1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

1 Y volvimos y partimos al desierto, camino del mar Rojo, como Jehová me había dicho, y rodeamos el monte Seir durante muchos días.

2 And the LORD spake unto me, saying,

2 Y Jehová me habló, diciendo:

3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

3 Bastante habéis rodeado este monte; volveos al norte.

4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

4 Y manda al pueblo, diciendo: Al pasar vosotros por el territorio de vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Esaú, que habitan en Seir, ellos tendrán miedo de vosotros; mas vosotros guardaos mucho.

5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

5 No contendáis con ellos, porque no os daré de su tierra ni aun la huella de la planta de un pie, porque yo he dado como heredad a Esaú el monte Seir.

6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

6 Compraréis de ellos con dinero los alimentos, y comeréis; y también compraréis de ellos el agua, y beberéis;

7 For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

7 pues Jehová tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda obra de tus manos; él sabe que andas por este gran desierto. Durante estos cuarenta años Jehová tu Dios ha estado contigo, y nada te ha faltado.

8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

8 Y pasamos de largo a nuestros hermanos, los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seir, por el camino de la llanura de Elat y de Ezión-geber. Y volvimos y tomamos el camino del desierto de Moab.

9 And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

9 Y Jehová me dijo: No molestes a Moab ni los provoques a la guerra, pues no te daré posesión de su tierra, porque yo he dado Ar como heredad a los hijos de Lot.

10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

10 (Los emitas habitaron en ella antes, pueblo grande, y numeroso y alto como los anaceos.

11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.

11 Ellos también eran considerados gigantes, como los anaceos; y los moabitas los llaman emitas.

12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.

12 Y en Seir habitaron antes los horeos, a los cuales echaron los hijos de Esaú; y los destruyeron delante de sí y moraron en lugar de ellos, como hizo Israel en la tierra de su posesión que les dio Jehová).

13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

13 Levantaos ahora y pasad el arroyo de Zered. Y pasamos el arroyo de Zered.

14 And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

14 Y los días que anduvimos desde Cades-barnea hasta que pasamos el arroyo de Zered fueron treinta y ocho años, hasta que se acabó toda la generación de los hombres de guerra de en medio del campamento, como Jehová les había jurado.

15 For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

15 Y también la mano de Jehová estuvo contra ellos para destruirlos de en medio del campamento, hasta acabarlos.

16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

16 Y aconteció que cuando finalmente murieron todos los hombres de guerra de entre el pueblo,

17 That the LORD spake unto me, saying,

17 Jehová me habló, diciendo:

18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

18 Tú pasarás hoy el territorio de Moab, hacia Ar,

19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

19 y cuando te acerques a los hijos de Amón, no los molestes ni contiendas con ellos, pues no te daré posesión de la tierra de los hijos de Amón, porque a los hijos de Lot la he dado como heredad.

20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

20 (Como la tierra de los gigantes fue también ella conocida; allí habitaron gigantes en otro tiempo, a los cuales los amonitas llamaban zomzomeos.

21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

21 Eran un pueblo grande, y numeroso y alto, como los anaceos, a los cuales Jehová destruyó delante de los amonitas, quienes los desalojaron y habitaron en su lugar,

22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

22 como hizo con los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seir, delante de los cuales destruyó a los horeos; y ellos los desalojaron y habitaron en su lugar hasta hoy.

23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

23 Y a los aveos que habitaban en aldeas hasta Gaza, los caftoreos que salieron de Caftor los destruyeron y habitaron en su lugar).

24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

24 Levantaos, partid y pasad el arroyo Arnón. He aquí, he entregado en tus manos a Sehón, el amorreo, rey de Hesbón, y su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella y entra con él en guerra.

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

25 Hoy comenzaré a infundir miedo y terror de ti entre los pueblos debajo de todo el cielo, los cuales oirán tu fama, y temblarán y se angustiarán delante de ti.

26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

26 Y envié mensajeros desde el desierto de Cademot a Sehón, rey de Hesbón, con palabras de paz, diciendo:

27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

27 Pasaré por tu tierra por el camino; por el camino iré, sin apartarme ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda.

28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

28 La comida me venderás por dinero, y comeré; el agua también me la darás por dinero, y beberé; solamente pasaré a pie,

29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.

29 como lo hicieron conmigo los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seir y los moabitas que habitaban en Ar, hasta que cruce el Jordán a la tierra que nos da Jehová nuestro Dios.

30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

30 Mas Sehón, rey de Hesbón, no quiso que pasáramos por su territorio, porque Jehová tu Dios había endurecido su espíritu y obstinado su corazón para entregarlo en tus manos, como lo vemos hoy.

31 And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

31 Y me dijo Jehová: He aquí yo he comenzado a entregar delante de ti a Sehón y su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella, para que la heredes.

32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

32 Y nos salió Sehón al encuentro, él y todo su pueblo, para pelear en Jahaza.

33 And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

33 Mas Jehová nuestro Dios lo entregó delante de nosotros, y lo derrotamos a él, y a sus hijos y a todo su pueblo.

34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

34 Y tomamos entonces todas sus ciudades y destruimos por completo todas las ciudades: hombres, y mujeres y niños; no dejamos ninguno.

35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

35 Solamente tomamos para nosotros el ganado y los despojos de las ciudades que habíamos tomado.

36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:

36 Desde Aroer, que está junto a la ribera del arroyo Arnón, y la ciudad que está en el valle, hasta Galaad, no hubo ciudad que escapase de nosotros; todas las entregó Jehová nuestro Dios en nuestro poder.

37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.

37 Solamente no llegaste a la tierra de los hijos de Amón, ni a todo lo que está a la orilla del arroyo Jaboc, ni a las ciudades del monte ni a lugar alguno que Jehová nuestro Dios había prohibido.
