1 These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

1 Estas son las palabras que habló Moisés a todo Israel a este lado del Jordán, en el desierto, en el llano delante del mar Rojo, entre Parán, y Tofel, y Labán, y Hazerot y Dizahab.

2 (There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)

2 Once días de viaje hay desde Horeb, camino del monte Seir, hasta Cades-barnea.

3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

3 Y aconteció que a los cuarenta años, en el mes undécimo, el primer día del mes, Moisés habló a los hijos de Israel conforme a todas las cosas que Jehová le había mandado acerca de ellos,

4 After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

4 después que hirió a Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que habitaba en Hesbón, y a Og, rey de Basán, que habitaba en Astarot, en Edrei.

5 On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

5 De este lado del Jordán, en la tierra de Moab, resolvió Moisés declarar esta ley, diciendo:

6 The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

6 Jehová nuestro Dios nos habló en Horeb, diciendo: Bastante tiempo habéis estado en este monte.

7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

7 Volveos, partid e id al monte del amorreo y a todas sus comarcas, en el llano, en el monte, y en los valles, y al sur y a la costa del mar, a la tierra del cananeo y el Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Éufrates.

8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

8 Mirad, yo he puesto la tierra delante de vosotros; entrad y poseed la tierra que Jehová juró a vuestros padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, que les daría a ellos y a su descendencia después de ellos.

9 And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

9 Y yo os hablé en ese entonces, diciendo: Yo solo no puedo llevaros.

10 The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

10 Jehová vuestro Dios os ha multiplicado, y he aquí hoy sois vosotros como las estrellas del cielo en multitud.

11 (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

11 ¡Jehová, Dios de vuestros padres, os haga mil veces más de lo que sois y os bendiga, como os ha prometido!

12 How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

12 ¿Cómo llevaré yo solo vuestros problemas, vuestras cargas y vuestros pleitos?

13 Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

13 Dad me de entre vosotros, de vuestras tribus, hombres sabios, y entendidos y expertos, para que yo los ponga como vuestros jefes.

14 And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

14 Y me respondisteis y dijisteis: Bueno es hacer lo que has dicho.

15 So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

15 Y tomé los principales de vuestras tribus, hombres sabios y expertos, y los puse como jefes sobre vosotros, jefes de millares, y jefes de centenas, y jefes de cincuenta, y jefes de diez y oficiales para vuestras tribus.

16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

16 Y entonces mandé a vuestros jueces, diciendo: Oíd la causa entre vuestros hermanos y juzgad justamente entre el hombre y su hermano, y el que es extranjero.

17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

17 No hagáis distinción de personas en el juicio; tanto al pequeño como al grande oiréis. No tendréis temor de ninguno, porque el juicio es de Dios; y la causa que os sea muy difícil, la traeréis a mí, y yo la oiré.

18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

18 Os mandé, pues, en aquel tiempo todo lo que habíais de hacer.

19 And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

19 Y cuando partimos de Horeb, anduvimos por todo aquel grande y terrible desierto que habéis visto, por el camino del monte del amorreo, como Jehová nuestro Dios nos lo mandó; y llegamos hasta Cades-barnea.

20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

20 Entonces os dije: Habéis llegado al monte del amorreo, el cual Jehová nuestro Dios nos da.

21 Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

21 Mira, Jehová tu Dios ha puesto delante de ti la tierra; sube y poséela, como Jehová, el Dios de tus padres, te ha dicho; no temas ni desmayes.

22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

22 Y os acercasteis a mí todos vosotros y dijisteis: Enviemos hombres delante de nosotros, que reconozcan la tierra y nos traigan razón del camino por donde hemos de subir y de las ciudades adonde hemos de llegar.

23 And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

23 Y la propuesta me pareció bien, y tomé doce hombres de entre vosotros, un hombre por cada tribu.

24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

24 Y se encaminaron, y subieron al monte, y llegaron hasta el valle de Escol y reconocieron la tierra.

25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

25 Y tomaron en sus manos del fruto del país y nos lo trajeron, y nos dieron un informe y dijeron: Es buena la tierra que Jehová nuestro Dios nos da.

26 Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:

26 Sin embargo, no quisisteis subir, sino que fuisteis rebeldes al mandato de Jehová vuestro Dios;

27 And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

27 y murmurasteis en vuestras tiendas, diciendo: Porque Jehová nos aborrece, nos ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en manos del amorreo para destruirnos.

28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

28 ¿A dónde subiremos? Nuestros hermanos han hecho desfallecer nuestro corazón, diciendo: Este pueblo es más grande y más alto que nosotros; las ciudades son grandes y están amuralladas hasta el cielo, y también vimos allí a los hijos de Anac.

29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

29 Entonces os dije: No temáis ni tengáis miedo de ellos.

30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

30 Jehová vuestro Dios, que va delante de vosotros, él peleará por vosotros, conforme a todas las cosas que hizo por vosotros en Egipto delante de vuestros ojos;

31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

31 y en el desierto has visto que Jehová tu Dios te ha llevado, como lleva el hombre a su hijo, por todo el camino que habéis andado, hasta que habéis llegado a este lugar.

32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,

32 Y aun con esto no creísteis a Jehová vuestro Dios,

33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

33 el que iba delante de vosotros por el camino para buscaros el lugar donde habíais de acampar, con fuego de noche para mostraros el camino por donde habíais de andar, y con nube de día.

34 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

34 Y oyó Jehová la voz de vuestras palabras, y se enojó y juró, diciendo:

35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

35 No verá hombre alguno de esta mala generación la buena tierra que juré dar a vuestros padres,

36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.

36 excepto Caleb hijo de Jefone; él la verá, y a él le daré la tierra que pisó, y a sus hijos, porque ha seguido fielmente a Jehová.

37 Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

37 Y también contra mí se airó Jehová por causa de vosotros, diciendo: Tampoco tú entrarás allá.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

38 Josué hijo de Nun, que está delante de ti, él entrará allá; anímale, porque él hará que Israel la herede.

39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

39 Y vuestros pequeños, de los cuales dijisteis que servirían de botín, y vuestros hijos que no saben hoy ni lo bueno ni lo malo, ellos entrarán allá, y a ellos la daré, y ellos la heredarán.

40 But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

40 Pero vosotros volveos y partid al desierto camino del mar Rojo.

41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

41 Entonces respondisteis y me dijisteis: Hemos pecado contra Jehová; nosotros subiremos y pelearemos, conforme a todo lo que Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha mandado. Y cada uno de vosotros se armó con sus armas de guerra y os preparasteis para subir al monte.

42 And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

42 Y Jehová me dijo: Diles: No subáis ni peleéis, pues no estoy entre vosotros, para que no seáis derrotados delante de vuestros enemigos.

43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

43 Y os hablé, pero no disteis oídos; antes fuisteis rebeldes al mandato de Jehová, y persistiendo con altivez, subisteis al monte.

44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

44 Y el amorreo que habitaba en aquel monte salió a vuestro encuentro, y os persiguieron como hacen las avispas y os derrotaron desde Seir hasta Horma.

45 And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

45 Y volvisteis y llorasteis delante de Jehová, pero Jehová no escuchó vuestra voz ni os prestó oídos.

46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

46 Y así estuvisteis en Cades por muchos días, los días que habéis estado allí.
