1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

1 En el año tercero del reinado del rey Belsasar, me apareció una visión a mí, Daniel, después de aquella que me había aparecido antes.

2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

2 Y vi en visión (y aconteció que cuando la vi, yo estaba en Susa, la ciudadela que está en la provincia de Elam), vi, pues, en visión, estando junto al río Ulai,

3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

3 y alcé mis ojos y miré, y he aquí que un carnero estaba delante del río, el cual tenía dos cuernos; y aunque los cuernos eran altos, uno era más alto que el otro, y a la postre el más alto creció.

4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

4 Vi que el carnero embestía con los cuernos al poniente, al norte y al sur, y que ninguna bestia podía estar delante de él, ni había quien escapase de su poder; y hacía conforme a su voluntad y se engrandeció.

5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

5 Y mientras yo consideraba esto, he aquí, un macho cabrío venía del poniente sobre la faz de toda la tierra, el cual no tocaba la tierra; y aquel macho cabrío tenía un cuerno notable entre sus ojos;

6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

6 y vino hasta el carnero que tenía los dos cuernos, que yo había visto que estaba delante del río, y corrió contra él con la furia de su fuerza.

7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

7 Y lo vi llegar junto al carnero, y se enfureció contra él, y lo hirió y le quebró sus dos cuernos, porque el carnero no tenía fuerzas para mantenerse delante de él; lo derribó, por tanto, en tierra y lo pisoteó; y no hubo quien librase al carnero de su poder.

8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

8 Y se engrandeció en gran manera el macho cabrío; y estando en su mayor fuerza, aquel gran cuerno fue quebrado, y en su lugar salieron otros cuatro cuernos notables hacia los cuatro vientos del cielo.

9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

9 Y de uno de ellos salió un cuerno pequeño que creció mucho hacia el sur, y hacia el oriente y hacia la tierra deseable.

10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

10 Y se engrandeció hasta llegar al ejército del cielo; y echó por tierra parte del ejército y de las estrellas, y las pisoteó.

11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

11 Aun se engrandeció contra el príncipe de los ejércitos, y por él fue quitado el continuo sacrificio, y el lugar de su santuario fue echado por tierra.

12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

12 Y el ejército le fue entregado a causa de la transgresión contra el continuo sacrificio; y echó por tierra la verdad, e hizo cuanto quiso y prosperó.

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

13 Entonces oí a un santo que hablaba; y otro de los santos dijo a aquel que hablaba: ¿Hasta cuándo durará la visión del continuo sacrificio, y la transgresión asoladora que pone al santuario y al ejército para ser pisoteados?

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

14 Y él me dijo: Hasta dos mil trescientas tardes y mañanas; luego el santuario será purificado.

15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

15 Y acaeció que mientras yo, Daniel, consideraba la visión y procuraba comprenderla, he aquí, se puso delante de mí uno con apariencia de hombre.

16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

16 Y oí una voz de hombre entre las riberas del Ulai, que gritó y dijo: Gabriel, haz comprender la visión a este hombre.

17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

17 Vino luego cerca de donde yo estaba, y con su venida me atemoricé y me postré sobre mi rostro. Pero él me dijo: Entiende, hijo de hombre, porque la visión es para el tiempo del fin.

18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

18 Y mientras él hablaba conmigo, caí profundamente dormido en tierra sobre mi rostro; y él me tocó y me hizo ponerme de pie.

19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

19 Y dijo: He aquí, yo te enseñaré lo que ha de venir al final de la indignación, porque el final será en el tiempo señalado.

20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

20 En cuanto al carnero que viste, que tenía dos cuernos, estos son los reyes de Media y de Persia.

21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

21 Y el peludo macho cabrío es el rey de Grecia; y el cuerno grande que tenía entre sus ojos es el primer rey.

22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

22 Y en cuanto al cuerno que fue quebrado, al que sucedieron cuatro en su lugar, significa que cuatro reinos se levantarán de esa nación, mas no con la fuerza de él.

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

23 Y al cabo del reinado de estos, cuando los transgresores hayan llegado al colmo, se levantará un rey altivo de rostro y hábil en intrigas.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

24 Y su poder se fortalecerá, mas no con fuerza propia; y destruirá asombrosamente, y prosperará, y actuará y destruirá a los fuertes y al pueblo de los santos.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

25 Y con su sagacidad hará prosperar el engaño en su mano; y en su propio corazón se engrandecerá y, en paz, destruirá a muchos; y se levantará contra el Príncipe de los príncipes pero, será quebrantado, aunque no por mano humana.

26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

26 Y la visión de la tarde y la mañana que se ha contado es verdadera; y tú guarda la visión, porque es para muchos días.

27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

27 Y yo, Daniel, me debilité y estuve enfermo algunos días; y cuando convalecí, atendí los asuntos del rey; pero yo estaba espantado a causa de la visión, y no había quien la entendiese.
