1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

1 Pareció bien a Darío constituir sobre el reino a ciento veinte sátrapas que estuviesen en todo el reino.

2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

2 Y sobre ellos a tres gobernadores, de los cuales Daniel era uno, a quienes los sátrapas diesen cuenta, para que el rey no fuese perjudicado.

3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

3 Pero Daniel mismo era superior a estos sátrapas y gobernadores, porque había en él un espíritu excelente; y el rey pensaba ponerlo sobre todo el reino.

4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

4 Entonces los gobernadores y los sátrapas buscaron ocasión para acusar a Daniel con respecto a los asuntos del reino, pero no pudieron hallar ocasión alguna o falta, porque él era fiel, y ningún motivo de acusación ni falta fue hallado en él.

5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

5 Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna para acusarle, si no la hallamos contra él en relación con la ley de su Dios.

6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

6 Entonces estos sátrapas y gobernadores se juntaron delante del rey y le dijeron así: Rey Darío, vive para siempre;

7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

7 todos los gobernadores del reino, magistrados, sátrapas, consejeros y capitanes han acordado por consejo que se promulgue un edicto del rey, y se confirme que cualquiera que haga petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de ti, en el espacio de treinta días, oh rey, sea echado al foso de los leones.

8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

8 Ahora, oh rey, publica el edicto y firma el documento, para que no se pueda revocar, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no puede ser abrogada.

9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

9 Firmó, pues, el rey Darío el documento y el edicto.

10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

10 Y Daniel, cuando supo que el documento había sido firmado, entró en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su aposento que daban hacia Jerusalén, se hincaba de rodillas tres veces al día, y oraba y daba gracias delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.

11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

11 Entonces se juntaron aquellos hombres y hallaron a Daniel orando y rogando delante de su Dios.

12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

12 Se acercaron luego y hablaron ante el rey acerca del edicto real: ¿No has firmado el edicto de que cualquiera que pida a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de ti, en el espacio de treinta días, oh rey, sea echado al foso de los leones? Respondió el rey y dijo: Verdad es, conforme a la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no puede ser abrogada.

13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

13 Entonces respondieron y dijeron delante del rey: Daniel, que es de los hijos de los cautivos de Judá, no te tiene en cuenta, oh rey, ni acata el edicto que firmaste, sino que tres veces al día hace su petición.

14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

14 Entonces cuando el rey oyó el asunto, le pesó en gran manera y resolvió librar a Daniel; y hasta la puesta del sol trabajó para librarle.

15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

15 Pero aquellos hombres rodearon al rey y le dijeron: Sabe, oh rey, que es la ley de Media y de Persia que ningún edicto o estatuto que el rey promulgue puede ser abrogado.

16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

16 Entonces el rey mandó, y trajeron a Daniel y le echaron en el foso de los leones. Y habló el rey y le dijo a Daniel: El Dios tuyo, a quien tú continuamente sirves, él te libre.

17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

17 Y fue traída una piedra que fue puesta sobre la puerta del foso, la cual selló el rey con su anillo y con el anillo de sus nobles, para que el acuerdo acerca de Daniel no se cambiara.

18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

18 Luego el rey se fue a su palacio y se acostó en ayuno; no trajeron ante él instrumentos de música, y se le fue el sueño.

19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

19 El rey, por tanto, se levantó muy de mañana y fue apresuradamente al foso de los leones.

20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

20 Y acercándose al foso, llamó a voces a Daniel con voz triste; habló el rey y le dijo a Daniel: Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, el Dios tuyo, a quien tú continuamente sirves, ¿te ha podido librar de los leones?

21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

21 Entonces Daniel respondió al rey: ¡Oh rey, vive para siempre!

22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

22 Mi Dios envió a su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen daño, porque ante él fui hallado inocente; y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho nada malo.

23 Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

23 Entonces se alegró el rey en gran manera a causa de él y mandó sacar a Daniel del foso; y fue Daniel sacado del foso, y ninguna lesión se halló en él, porque había confiado en su Dios.

24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

24 Y mandó el rey, y fueron traídos aquellos hombres que habían acusado a Daniel, y fueron echados al foso de los leones ellos, sus hijos y sus esposas; y aún no habían llegado al fondo del foso cuando los leones se apoderaron de ellos y quebraron todos sus huesos.

25 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

25 Entonces el rey Darío escribió a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que habitaban en toda esa tierra: Paz os sea multiplicada;

26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

26 de parte mía se da el decreto de que en todo el dominio de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen ante la presencia del Dios de Daniel, porque él es el Dios viviente y permanece para siempre, y su reino no será destruido, y su dominio perdurará hasta el fin.

27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

27 Él salva y libra, y hace señales y maravillas en el cielo y en la tierra; él ha librado a Daniel del poder de los leones.

28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

28 Y este Daniel fue prosperado durante el reinado de Darío y durante el reinado de Ciro el Persa.
