1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.

1 Oíd esta palabra que yo levanto para lamentación contra vosotros, oh casa de Israel.

2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

2 Cayó la virginal Israel; no podrá levantarse ya más; fue dejada sobre su tierra, y no hay quien la levante.

3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.

3 Porque así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: La ciudad que salga con mil volverá con cien, y la que salga con cien volverá con diez, en la casa de Israel.

4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:

4 Pero así dice Jehová a la casa de Israel: Buscadme y viviréis;

5 But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.

5 y no busquéis a Bet-el, ni entréis en Gilgal ni paséis a Beerseba, porque Gilgal será ciertamente llevada en cautiverio, y Bet-el será deshecha.

6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el.

6 Buscad a Jehová y vivid, no sea que acometa como fuego a la casa de José y la consuma, sin haber en Bet-el quien lo apague.

7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,

7 Los que convertís en ajenjo el juicio y echáis por tierra la justicia,

8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

8 buscad al que hizo las Pléyades y el Orión, y las tinieblas vuelve en mañana y hace oscurecer el día como noche; el que llama a las aguas del mar y las derrama sobre la faz de la tierra: Jehová es su nombre;

9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.

9 Él es el que desencadena destrucción sobre el fuerte y hace que la destrucción venga contra la fortaleza.

10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

10 Ellos aborrecen al reprensor en la puerta de la ciudad, y al que habla lo recto abominan.

11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.

11 Por tanto, puesto que pisoteáis al pobre y tomáis de él carga de trigo, aun cuando edificasteis casas de piedra labrada, no las habitaréis; plantasteis hermosas viñas, pero no beberéis el vino de ellas.

12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

12 Porque yo sé de vuestras muchas rebeliones y de vuestros grandes pecados; afligís al justo, y recibís cohecho y apartáis a los pobres en la puerta.

13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

13 Por tanto, el prudente en tal tiempo calla, porque el tiempo es malo.

14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

14 Buscad lo bueno y no lo malo, para que viváis, porque así Jehová Dios de los ejércitos estará con vosotros, como decís.

15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

15 Aborreced el mal, y amad el bien y poned juicio en la puerta; quizá Jehová Dios de los ejércitos tendrá piedad del remanente de José.

16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

16 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, el Señor: En todas las plazas habrá llanto, y en todas las calles dirán: ¡Ay! ¡ay!; y al labrador llamarán a duelo, y a llorar a los que sepan lamentarse.

17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.

17 Y en todas las viñas habrá llanto, porque pasaré por en medio de ti, dice Jehová.

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

18 ¡Ay de los que desean el día de Jehová! ¿Para qué queréis este día de Jehová? Será de tinieblas y no de luz,

19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

19 como el que huye de delante del león y se topa con el oso; o como el que, al entrar en casa, apoya su mano en la pared y le muerde una culebra.

20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

20 ¿No será el día de Jehová tinieblas y no luz; oscuridad, que no tiene resplandor?

21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

21 Aborrezco, desprecio vuestras fiestas, y no me darán olor grato vuestras asambleas.

22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

22 Y si me ofrecéis holocaustos y vuestras ofrendas de grano, no los recibiré ni miraré a las ofrendas de paz de vuestros animales engordados.

23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

23 Quita de mí el ruido de tus cantares, pues no escucharé las salmodias de tus arpas.

24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

24 Antes bien, corra el juicio como las aguas y la justicia como impetuoso arroyo.

25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

25 ¿Me ofrecisteis sacrificios y ofrendas en el desierto en cuarenta años, oh casa de Israel?

26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

26 Antes bien, llevabais el tabernáculo de vuestros Moloc y Quiún, ídolos vuestros, la estrella de vuestros dioses que os hicisteis.

27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.

27 Os haré, pues, entrar en cautividad más allá de Damasco, ha dicho Jehová, cuyo nombre es Dios de los ejércitos.
