1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

1 Después de esto, aconteció que David derrotó a los filisteos y los sometió; y tomó David Meteg-ama de manos de los filisteos.

2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

2 Y derrotó también a los de Moab y los midió con cordel, haciéndolos tenderse en tierra; y midió dos cordeles para darles muerte, y un cordel entero para dejarlos con vida; y fueron los moabitas siervos de David que le llevaban tributo.

3 David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

3 Asimismo derrotó David a Hadar-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, al ir este a recuperar sus dominios hasta el río Éufrates.

4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

4 Y tomó David de él mil setecientos hombres de a caballo y veinte mil hombres de a pie; y desjarretó David los caballos de todos los carros, pero dejó suficientes de ellos para cien carros.

5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

5 Y vinieron los sirios de Damasco a dar ayuda a Hadar-ezer, rey de Soba; y David mató de los sirios a veintidós mil hombres.

6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

6 Entonces puso luego David guarnición en Siria de Damasco, y llegaron los sirios a ser siervos de David, sujetos a tributo. Y Jehová guardaba a David por dondequiera que iba.

7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

7 Y tomó David los escudos de oro que llevaban los siervos de Hadar-ezer y los llevó a Jerusalén.

8 And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

8 Asimismo de Beta y de Berotai, ciudades de Hadar-ezer, tomó el rey David gran cantidad de bronce.

9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

9 Y cuando Toi, rey de Hamat, oyó que David había derrotado a todo el ejército de Hadar-ezer,

10 Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

10 Toi envió a su hijo Joram al rey David para saludarle pacíficamente y para bendecirle, porque había peleado con Hadar-ezer y lo había vencido, porque Toi era enemigo de Hadar-ezer. Y Joram llevaba en su mano utensilios de plata y de oro y de bronce,

11 Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

11 los cuales el rey David dedicó a Jehová, junto con la plata y el oro que había dedicado de todas las naciones que había sometido:

12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

12 de los sirios, de los moabitas, de los amonitas, de los filisteos, de los amalecitas y del botín de Hadar-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.

13 And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

13 Así ganó David fama cuando regresó de la derrota de los sirios, donde hirió a dieciocho mil hombres en el valle de la Sal.

14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

14 Y puso guarniciones en Edom, por toda Edom puso guarniciones; y todos los edomitas fueron siervos de David. Y Jehová guardaba a David por dondequiera que iba.

15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

15 Y reinó David sobre todo Israel, y David administraba justicia y equidad a todo su pueblo.

16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

16 Y Joab hijo de Sarvia era general de su ejército, y Josafat hijo de Ahilud era cronista;

17 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

17 y Sadoc hijo de Ahitob y Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar eran sacerdotes; y Seraías era escriba;

18 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.

18 y Benaía hijo de Joiada estaba sobre los cereteos y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran los príncipes.
