1 And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

1 Y cuando oyó el hijo de Saúl que Abner había muerto en Hebrón, las manos se le debilitaron, y todo Israel se atemorizó.

2 And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:

2 Y tenía el hijo de Saúl dos hombres, los cuales eran capitanes de tropa; el nombre de uno era Baana, y el del otro, Recab, hijos de Rimón, el beerotita, de los hijos de Benjamín (porque Beerot era también contado con Benjamín,

3 And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

3 pues los beerotitas habían huido a Gitaim, y moran allí como forasteros hasta el día de hoy).

4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

4 Y Jonatán hijo de Saúl tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies. Tenía cinco años de edad cuando llegó de Jezreel la noticia de la muerte de Saúl y de Jonatán, y su nodriza le tomó y huyó; y mientras iba huyendo apresuradamente, se le cayó el niño y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mefi-boset.

5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

5 Los hijos, pues, de Rimón, el beerotita, Recab y Baana, en el mayor calor del día, fueron y entraron en casa de Is-boset, quien estaba durmiendo la siesta.

6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

6 Y he aquí que entraron ellos en medio de la casa como si fuesen mercaderes de grano, y le hirieron en la quinta costilla. Y luego Recab y su hermano Baana escaparon.

7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

7 Pues cuando entraron en la casa, Is-boset dormía sobre su lecho en su cámara de dormir; y lo hirieron y lo mataron, y le cortaron la cabeza; y tomándola, caminaron toda la noche por el camino de la llanura.

8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

8 Y llevaron la cabeza de Is-boset a David, en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: He aquí la cabeza de Is-boset hijo de Saúl, tu enemigo, que procuraba matarte; y Jehová ha vengado hoy a mi señor el rey de Saúl y de sus descendientes.

9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

9 Y David respondió a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón, el beerotita, y les dijo: Vive Jehová que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia,

10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

10 que cuando uno me dio nuevas, diciendo: He aquí, Saúl ha muerto, imaginándose que traía buenas nuevas, yo lo prendí y le maté en Siclag, en pago de la nueva.

11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

11 ¿Cuánto más a los hombres malos que mataron a un hombre justo en su casa y sobre su cama? Ahora, pues, ¿no he de demandar yo su sangre de vuestras manos y quitaros de la tierra?

12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

12 Entonces David mandó a los jóvenes, y ellos los mataron, y les cortaron las manos y los pies, y los colgaron junto al estanque en Hebrón. Luego tomaron la cabeza de Is-boset y la enterraron en el sepulcro de Abner, en Hebrón.
