1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

1 Estas son las últimas palabras de David. Dijo David hijo de Isaí, dijo aquel varón que fue levantado en alto, el ungido del Dios de Jacob, el dulce cantor de Israel:

2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

2 El Espíritu de Jehová ha hablado por medio de mí, y su palabra ha estado en mi lengua.

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

3 El Dios de Israel me ha hablado, me habló la Roca de Israel: El que gobierna a los hombres con justicia, que gobierna en el temor de Dios;

4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

4 es como la luz de la mañana cuando sale el sol en una mañana sin nubes; como la hierba de la tierra brota por el resplandor después de la lluvia.

5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

5 ¿No es así mi casa para con Dios? Pues él ha hecho convenio eterno conmigo, bien ordenado en todas las cosas y seguro. Aunque todavía no haya hecho florecer toda mi salvación y todo mi deseo.

6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

6 Pero los malvados, todos ellos, serán como espinos desechados, los cuales nadie toma con la mano;

7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

7 y quien quiere tocarlos se arma de un hierro y del asta de una lanza, y son del todo quemados en su lugar.

8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

8 Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David: Joseb-basebet, el tacmonita, principal de los capitanes; este era Adino, el eznita, que mató en una ocasión a ochocientos hombres.

9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

9 Después de este, Eleazar hijo de Dodo, el ahohíta, uno de los tres valientes que estaban con David cuando desafiaron a los filisteos que se habían reunido allí para la batalla, y los hombres de Israel se alejaron.

10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

10 Este se levantó e hirió a los filisteos hasta que su mano se cansó y se le quedó pegada a la espada. Aquel día Jehová dio una gran victoria, y el pueblo se volvió en pos de él solamente para tomar el botín.

11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

11 Después de este fue Sama hijo de Age, el ararita. Y los filisteos se habían reunido en Lehi, donde había un pequeño terreno lleno de lentejas, y el pueblo huyó delante de los filisteos.

12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

12 Él entonces se puso en medio del terreno, y lo defendió y mató a los filisteos; y así Jehová dio una gran victoria.

13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

13 Y tres de los treinta jefes descendieron y vinieron en tiempo de la siega a David a la cueva de Adulam; y el campamento de los filisteos estaba en el valle de Refaim.

14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

14 David entonces estaba en el lugar fuerte, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba en Belén.

15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

15 Y David tuvo un gran deseo y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber del agua del pozo de Belén que está junto a la puerta!

16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

16 Entonces los tres valientes irrumpieron en el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén que estaba junto a la puerta, se la llevaron, y la trajeron a David; pero él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó ante Jehová,

17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

17 y dijo: Lejos esté de mí, oh Jehová, que yo haga esto. ¿No es esto como la sangre de los hombres que fueron con peligro de su vida? Y no quiso beberla. Los tres valientes hicieron esto.

18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

18 Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, era el principal de los treinta; este alzó su lanza contra trescientos, a quienes mató, y tuvo renombre entre los tres.

19 Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

19 Él era el más destacado de los treinta, y llegó a ser su jefe, pero no igualó a los tres primeros.

20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

20 Después, Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de un hombre valiente, grande en hechos, de Cabseel. Este mató a dos leones de Moab; y él mismo descendió y mató a un león en medio de un foso un día de nieve.

21 And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

21 También mató él a un egipcio, hombre de gran estatura; y tenía el egipcio una lanza en la mano, pero descendió contra él con un palo, y le arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano y lo mató con su propia lanza.

22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

22 Esto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y tuvo renombre como los tres valientes.

23 He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

23 De los treinta fue el más destacado, pero no igualó a los tres primeros. Y lo puso David como jefe de su guardia personal.

24 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

24 Asael, hermano de Joab, era uno de los treinta; Elhanán hijo de Dodo, de Belén,

25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26 Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
