1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

1 Y en los días de David hubo hambre durante tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó a Jehová, y Jehová le dijo: Es por causa de Saúl, y por aquella casa sanguinaria, porque mató a los gabaonitas.

2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

2 Entonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas y les habló. (Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del resto de los amorreos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento; pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá).

3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

3 Dijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué haré por vosotros, y cómo os compensaré para que bendigáis la heredad de Jehová?

4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

4 Y los gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl ni con su casa, ni queremos que muera ningún hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que digáis, eso haré por vosotros.

5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,

5 Y ellos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó y que maquinó contra nosotros, para exterminarnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el territorio de Israel,

6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

6 que se nos den siete hombres de entre sus hijos para que los ahorquemos delante de Jehová en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Os los daré.

7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

7 Y perdonó el rey a Mefi-boset hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán hijo de Saúl.

8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:

8 Mas tomó el rey a dos hijos de Rizpa hija de Aja, los cuales ella había dado a luz a Saúl, a Armoni y a Mefi-boset, y a cinco hijos de Mical hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había dado a luz a Adriel hijo de Barzilai, el meholatita,

9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

9 y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová; y murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en los primeros días de la siega, al principio de la siega de la cebada.

10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

10 Y tomó Rizpa hija de Aja, una tela de cilicio y la tendió para sí sobre un peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó que ninguna ave del cielo se posara sobre ellos de día, ni las fieras del campo de noche.

11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

11 Y le dijeron a David lo que hacía Rizpa hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl.

12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:

12 Entonces David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán, su hijo, de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Bet-sán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos cuando estos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa;

13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

13 e hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de su hijo Jonatán; y también recogieron los huesos de los ahorcados.

14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.

14 Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonatán en la tierra de Benjamín, en Zela, en el sepulcro de su padre Cis; e hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Después de esto, Dios escuchó las súplicas para con la tierra.

15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.

15 Y cuando los filisteos volvieron a hacer la guerra contra Israel, descendió David y sus siervos con él y pelearon contra los filisteos; y David se cansó.

16 And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.

16 E Isbi-benob, uno de los descendientes del gigante, cuya lanza pesaba trescientos siclos de bronce, y que llevaba ceñida una espada nueva, trató de matar a David;

17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.

17 pero Abisai hijo de Sarvia llegó en su ayuda, e hirió al filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí en adelante saldrás con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que apagues la lámpara de Israel.

18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.

18 Y aconteció que después hubo una segunda guerra en Gob contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecai, el husatita, mató a Saf, que era de los hijos del gigante.

19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Beth-lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.

19 Y hubo guerra en Gob contra los filisteos, en la cual Elhanán hijo de Jaare-oregim, de Belén, mató a Goliat, el geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.

20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

20 Después hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro en total; y también era de los hijos del gigante.

21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.

21 Este desafió a Israel, y lo mató Jonatán hijo de Simea, hermano de David.

22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

22 Estos cuatro eran descendientes del gigante de Gat, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y por mano de sus siervos.
