1 And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

1 Aconteció después de esto que, teniendo Absalón hijo de David una hermana muy hermosa que se llamaba Tamar, Amnón hijo de David se enamoró de ella.

2 And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her.

2 Y Amnón estaba tan angustiado que se puso enfermo por su hermana Tamar; pues, por ser ella virgen, le parecía difícil a Amnón hacerle algo.

3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

3 Y Amnón tenía un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab hijo de Simea, hermano de David; y Jonadab era un hombre muy astuto.

4 And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

4 Y este le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿por qué de día en día vas enflaqueciendo así? ¿No me lo descubrirás a mí? Y Amnón le respondió: Yo amo a Tamar, la hermana de Absalón, mi hermano.

5 And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

5 Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre venga a visitarte, dile: Te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar, para que me dé de comer, y prepare delante de mí una comida, para que yo la vea y coma de su mano.

6 So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

6 Se acostó, pues, Amnón, y fingió que estaba enfermo, y vino el rey a visitarle; y dijo Amnón al rey: Yo te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar y haga delante de mí dos panes, para que coma yo de su mano.

7 Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

7 Y David envió a Tamar a su casa, diciendo: Ve ahora a casa de Amnón, tu hermano, y hazle de comer.

8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

8 Y fue Tamar a casa de su hermano Amnón, el cual estaba acostado; y tomó harina, y la amasó e hizo panes delante de él y los coció.

9 And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

9 Tomó luego la sartén y los sacó delante de él; pero él no quiso comer. Y dijo Amnón: Echad fuera de aquí a todos. Y todos salieron de allí.

10 And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

10 Entonces Amnón dijo a Tamar: Trae la comida a la alcoba para que yo coma de tu mano. Y tomando Tamar los panes que había cocido, los llevó a su hermano Amnón a la alcoba.

11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

11 Y cuando ella se los puso delante para que comiese, él asió de ella, diciéndole: Ven, hermana mía, acuéstate conmigo.

12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

12 Ella entonces le respondió: No, hermano mío, no me fuerces, porque no se debe hacer así en Israel. No hagas tal vileza.

13 And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

13 Porque, ¿adónde iría yo con mi deshonra? Y aun tú serías estimado como uno de los perversos en Israel. Te ruego, pues, ahora, que hables al rey, porque él no me negará a ti.

14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

14 Pero él no la quiso oír, sino que, pudiendo más que ella, la forzó y se acostó con ella.

15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

15 Después Amnón la aborreció con tan gran aborrecimiento, que el odio con que la aborreció fue mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y le dijo Amnón: Levántate y vete.

16 And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

16 Y ella le respondió: No hay razón; mayor mal es este de echarme que el que me has hecho. Pero él no la quiso oír,

17 Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

17 sino que, llamando a su criado que le servía, le dijo: Échame a esta fuera de aquí y cierra la puerta tras ella.

18 And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

18 Y ella llevaba puesto un vestido de colores, un traje que vestían las hijas vírgenes de los reyes. Y su criado la echó fuera y cerró la puerta tras ella.

19 And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

19 Entonces Tamar tomó ceniza y la esparció sobre su cabeza, y rasgó la ropa de colores que llevaba puesta y, con las manos sobre su cabeza, se fue gritando.

20 And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

20 Y le dijo su hermano Absalón: ¿Ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Calla pues, ahora, hermana mía; tu hermano es. No se angustie tu corazón por esto. Y se quedó Tamar desconsolada en casa de su hermano Absalón.

21 But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

21 Y cuando el rey David oyó todo esto, se enojó mucho.

22 And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

22 Pero Absalón no habló con Amnón ni malo ni bueno, pues Absalón aborrecía a Amnón, porque había forzado a su hermana Tamar.

23 And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

23 Y aconteció que, pasados dos años, Absalón tenía esquiladores en Baal-hazor, que está junto a Efraín; y convidó Absalón a todos los hijos del rey.

24 And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

24 Y vino Absalón al rey y le dijo: He aquí, tu siervo tiene ahora esquiladores; yo ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.

25 And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

25 Y respondió el rey a Absalón: No, hijo mío, no iremos todos, para no ser una carga para ti. Y aunque le insistió, no quiso ir, mas le bendijo.

26 Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?

26 Entonces dijo Absalón: Si no, te ruego que venga Amnón, mi hermano, con nosotros. Y el rey le respondió: ¿Para qué ha de ir contigo?

27 But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

27 Y como Absalón le insistió, dejó ir con él a Amnón y a todos los hijos del rey.

28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

28 Y Absalón dio órdenes a sus criados, diciendo: Ahora bien, mirad cuando el corazón de Amnón esté alegre por el vino; y cuando yo os diga: Herid a Amnón, entonces matadle; y no temáis, pues yo os lo he mandado. Esforzaos, pues, y sed valientes.

29 And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

29 Y los criados de Absalón hicieron con Amnón como Absalón lo había mandado. Entonces se levantaron todos los hijos del rey, y montó cada uno en su mula y huyeron.

30 And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

30 Y aconteció que cuando estaban ellos aún en camino, llegó a David el rumor que decía: Absalón ha matado a todos los hijos del rey, y ninguno de ellos ha quedado.

31 Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

31 Entonces se levantó David, y rasgó sus vestidos y se echó en tierra, y todos sus criados presentes rasgaron sus vestidos.

32 And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

32 Y Jonadab hijo de Simea, hermano de David, habló y dijo: No diga mi señor que han dado muerte a todos los jóvenes hijos del rey, pues solo Amnón ha sido muerto; porque en boca de Absalón estaba decidido desde el día en que Amnón forzó a su hermana Tamar.

33 Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

33 Por tanto, ahora no ponga mi señor el rey en su corazón ese rumor que dice: Todos los hijos del rey han sido muertos, porque solo Amnón ha sido muerto.

34 But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.

34 Y Absalón huyó. Y el joven que estaba en el atalaya alzó los ojos y miró, y he aquí que mucha gente venía por el camino que estaba a sus espaldas, del lado del monte.

35 And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

35 Y dijo Jonadab al rey: He allí los hijos del rey que vienen, tal como tu siervo ha dicho.

36 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

36 Y aconteció que cuando él acabó de hablar, he aquí que los hijos del rey llegaron, y alzando su voz, lloraron. Y también el mismo rey y todos sus siervos lloraron con muy grandes lamentos.

37 But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

37 Pero Absalón huyó y se fue a Talmai hijo de Amiud, rey de Gesur. Y David lloraba por su hijo todos los días.

38 So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

38 Así Absalón huyó, y se fue a Gesur y estuvo allá tres años.

39 And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

39 Y el rey David ansiaba ver a Absalón, porque ya se había consolado de la muerte de Amnón.
