1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

1 Y habló Eliseo a aquella mujer a cuyo hijo había hecho revivir, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa a vivir donde puedas, porque Jehová ha llamado al hambre, que vendrá también sobre la tierra durante siete años.

2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

2 Entonces la mujer se levantó e hizo como el hombre de Dios le dijo; y partió ella con su familia y vivió en la tierra de los filisteos durante siete años.

3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

3 Y sucedió que cuando pasaron los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos; después salió para implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras.

4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

4 Y el rey estaba hablando con Giezi, criado del hombre de Dios, diciéndole: Te ruego que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.

5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

5 Y aconteció que mientras él contaba al rey cómo había hecho revivir a un muerto, llegó la mujer a cuyo hijo él había hecho revivir, e imploró al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: Oh rey, señor mío, esta es la mujer y este es su hijo, al que Eliseo hizo revivir.

6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

6 Y cuando preguntó el rey a la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le asignó a un oficial, diciéndole: Devuélvele todas las cosas que eran suyas y todos los frutos de sus tierras, desde el día en que dejó el país hasta ahora.

7 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

7 Entonces Eliseo fue a Damasco; y Ben-adad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo, al que dieron aviso, diciendo: El hombre de Dios ha venido aquí.

8 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

8 Y el rey dijo a Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve a recibir al hombre de Dios y consulta por medio de él a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?

9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

9 Tomó, pues, Hazael en sus manos un presente de entre todo lo bueno de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y salió a recibirlo; y cuando llegó, se puso delante de él y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a ti, diciendo: ¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?

10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

10 Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, dile: Seguramente vivirás. Pero Jehová me ha mostrado que ciertamente él morirá.

11 And he settled his countenance steadfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

11 Y el hombre de Dios le miró fijamente, hasta avergonzarlo. Y lloró el hombre de Dios.

12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

12 Entonces le dijo Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que harás a los hijos de Israel: A sus fortalezas prenderás fuego, y a sus jóvenes matarás a espada, y estrellarás a sus niños y abrirás el vientre a sus mujeres encintas.

13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

13 Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿Es tu siervo un perro, para que haga tal cosa? Y respondió Eliseo: Jehová me ha mostrado que tú serás rey de Siria.

14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

14 Y él se fue de Eliseo y regresó a su señor, quien le dijo: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Y él respondió: Me dijo que seguramente vivirás.

15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

15 Y sucedió que al día siguiente tomó un paño grueso, y lo empapó en agua y lo puso sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, y este murió; y reinó Hazael en su lugar.

16 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

16 En el quinto año de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, y siendo Josafat rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joram hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.

17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

17 Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

18 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, tal como hizo la casa de Acab, porque una hija de Acab fue su esposa; y él hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

19 No obstante, Jehová no quiso destruir a Judá, por amor a David, su siervo, porque había prometido darle lámpara a sus hijos perpetuamente.

20 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

20 En sus días se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

21 Joram, por tanto, fue a Zair, y todos sus carros con él. Y aconteció que se levantó de noche y atacó a los edomitas, los cuales le habían sitiado a él y a los capitanes de los carros; y el pueblo huyó a sus tiendas.

22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

22 No obstante, se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, hasta el día de hoy. Además, Libna se rebeló al mismo tiempo.

23 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

23 Los demás hechos de Joram y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

24 And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

24 Y durmió Joram con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y reinó en su lugar Ocozías, su hijo.

25 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.

25 En el año doce de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.

26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

26 Tenía veintidós años Ocozías cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Atalía hija de Omri, rey de Israel.

27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

27 Y anduvo en el camino de la casa de Acab e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, tal como la casa de Acab, porque era yerno de la casa de Acab.

28 And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

28 Y fue a la guerra con Joram hijo de Acab a Ramot de Galaad, contra Hazael, rey de Siria; y los sirios hirieron a Joram.

29 And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

29 Y el rey Joram regresó a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le hicieron delante de Ramot, cuando peleó contra Hazael, rey de Siria. Y descendió Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, a visitar a Joram hijo de Acab en Jezreel, porque estaba enfermo.
