1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

1 Dijo entonces Eliseo: Oíd la palabra de Jehová: Así dice Jehová: Mañana a estas horas valdrá el seah de flor de harina un siclo, y dos seahs de cebada un siclo, a la puerta de Samaria.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

2 Y un oficial real, sobre cuya mano el rey se apoyaba, respondió al hombre de Dios y dijo: He aquí que si Jehová hiciese ahora ventanas en el cielo, ¿sería esto así? Y él dijo: He aquí tú lo verás con tus ojos, pero no comerás de ello.

3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

3 Y había cuatro hombres leprosos a la entrada de la puerta, los cuales se dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Para qué nos quedamos sentados aquí hasta morir?

4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

4 Si tratamos de entrar en la ciudad, por el hambre que hay en la ciudad moriremos allí; y si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Vamos pues, ahora, y pasémonos al ejército de los sirios; si ellos nos dan la vida, viviremos; y si nos dan la muerte, moriremos.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

5 Se levantaron, pues, al anochecer, para ir al campamento de los sirios; y al llegar a las afueras del campamento de los sirios, he aquí que no había nadie allí.

6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

6 Porque el Señor había hecho que en el campamento de los sirios se oyese estruendo de carros, ruido de caballos y estrépito de un gran ejército; y se dijeron unos a otros: He aquí, el rey de Israel ha contratado contra nosotros a los reyes de los heteos y a los reyes de los egipcios para que vengan contra nosotros.

7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

7 Así que se habían levantado y huido al anochecer, abandonando sus tiendas, sus caballos, sus asnos y el campamento como estaba; y habían huido para salvar sus vidas.

8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

8 Y cuando los leprosos llegaron a las afueras del campamento, entraron en una tienda, y comieron y bebieron, y tomaron de allí plata, y oro y ropa, y fueron y lo escondieron; y volvieron y entraron en otra tienda, y de allí también tomaron botín, y fueron y lo escondieron.

9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.

9 Y se dijeron el uno al otro: No estamos haciendo bien; hoy es día de buenas nuevas, y nosotros estamos callados; y si esperamos hasta la luz de la mañana, nos alcanzará nuestra maldad. Vamos pues, ahora, entremos y demos la nueva en casa del rey.

10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

10 Y fueron y dieron voces a los guardias de la puerta de la ciudad, y les dijeron: Nosotros fuimos al campamento de los sirios, y he aquí que no había nadie allí, ni voz de hombre, sino caballos atados, asnos también atados y las tiendas como estaban.

11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.

11 Y los porteros dieron voces y lo anunciaron dentro, en el palacio del rey.

12 And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

12 Y se levantó el rey de noche y dijo a sus siervos: Yo os diré lo que nos han hecho los sirios. Ellos saben que tenemos hambre, y han salido de las tiendas y se han escondido en el campo, diciendo: Cuando hayan salido de la ciudad, los capturaremos vivos y entraremos en la ciudad.

13 And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.

13 Entonces respondió uno de sus siervos y dijo: Tomen ahora cinco de los caballos que han quedado en la ciudad (porque he aquí, ellos son como toda la multitud de Israel que ha quedado en la ciudad; he aquí, son como toda la multitud de Israel que ya ha perecido), y enviemos y veamos qué hay.

14 They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

14 Tomaron, pues, dos carros con caballos, y los envió el rey tras el ejército de los sirios, diciendo: Id y ved.

15 And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

15 Y ellos fueron y los siguieron hasta el Jordán; y he aquí que todo el camino estaba lleno de ropa y enseres que los sirios habían arrojado por la premura. Y volvieron los mensajeros y lo hicieron saber al rey.

16 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

16 Entonces el pueblo salió y saqueó el campamento de los sirios. Y fue vendido un seah de flor de harina por un siclo, y dos seahs de cebada por un siclo, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.

17 And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

17 Y el rey puso a cargo de la puerta a aquel oficial real sobre cuya mano él se apoyaba; y le atropelló el pueblo a la entrada, y murió, conforme a lo que había dicho el hombre de Dios cuando el rey descendió a él.

18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

18 Y aconteció, pues, de la manera que el hombre de Dios había hablado al rey cuando dijo: Dos seahs de cebada por un siclo, y un seah de flor de harina será vendido por un siclo mañana a estas horas, a la puerta de Samaria.

19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

19 A lo cual aquel oficial real había respondido al hombre de Dios, diciendo: He aquí que si Jehová hiciese ventanas en el cielo, ¿sería eso así? Y él dijo: He aquí que tú lo verás con tus ojos, pero no comerás de ello.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

20 Y así le sucedió, porque el pueblo le atropelló a la entrada, y murió.
