1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.

1 Naamán, general del ejército del rey de Siria, era un gran hombre delante de su señor y tenido en alta estima, porque por medio de él Jehová había librado a Siria. Este hombre era valeroso en extremo, pero leproso.

2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.

2 Y de Siria habían salido tropas y habían llevado cautiva de la tierra de Israel a una muchacha, la cual servía a la esposa de Naamán.

3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

3 Y ella dijo a su señora: Si rogase mi señor al profeta que está en Samaria, él lo sanaría de su lepra.

4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.

4 Y entró Naamán y habló a su señor, diciendo: Así y así ha dicho una muchacha que es de la tierra de Israel.

5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.

5 Y le dijo el rey de Siria: Anda, ve, y yo enviaré una carta al rey de Israel. Partió, pues, él, llevando consigo diez talentos de plata, y seis mil piezas de oro y diez mudas de ropa.

6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.

6 Y llevó la carta al rey de Israel, que decía así: Cuando llegue a ti esta carta, he aquí, sabrás que yo he enviado a ti a mi siervo Naamán, para que lo sanes de su lepra.

7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.

7 Y sucedió que cuando el rey de Israel leyó la carta, rasgó sus vestidos y dijo: ¿Acaso soy yo Dios, que da muerte y que da vida, para que este envíe a mí a un hombre a fin de que lo sane de su lepra? Considerad ahora, y ved cómo busca ocasión contra mí.

8 And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

8 Y aconteció que cuando Eliseo, el hombre de Dios, oyó que el rey de Israel había rasgado sus vestidos, envió a decir al rey: ¿Por qué has rasgado tus vestidos? Venga él ahora a mí y sabrá que hay profeta en Israel.

9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

9 Y llegó Naamán con sus caballos y con su carro, y se paró a las puertas de la casa de Eliseo.

10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

10 Entonces Eliseo le envió un mensajero, diciendo: Ve y lávate siete veces en el Jordán, y tu carne se te restaurará y serás limpio.

11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

11 Y Naamán se fue enojado, diciendo: He aquí yo decía para mí: Ciertamente él saldrá y, estando de pie, invocará el nombre de Jehová su Dios, y alzará su mano y, moviéndola sobre la parte enferma, sanará la lepra.

12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.

12 El Abana y el Farfar, ríos de Damasco, ¿no son mejores que todas las aguas de Israel? Si me lavo en ellos, ¿no seré también limpio? Y se volvió y se fue enojado.

13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

13 Pero sus criados se acercaron a él, y le hablaron, diciendo: Padre mío, si el profeta te mandara alguna gran cosa, ¿no la harías? ¡Cuánto más si solo te ha dicho: Lávate, y serás limpio!

14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

14 Él entonces descendió y se sumergió siete veces en el Jordán, conforme a la palabra del hombre de Dios; y su carne se volvió como la carne de un niño, y quedó limpio.

15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

15 Y regresó al hombre de Dios, él y toda su compañía, y se puso delante de él y dijo: He aquí, ahora reconozco que no hay Dios en toda la tierra, sino en Israel. Te ruego que aceptes algún presente de tu siervo.

16 But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.

16 Pero él dijo: Vive Jehová, delante de quien estoy, que no lo aceptaré. Y le insistió que lo aceptara, pero él no quiso.

17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

17 Entonces Naamán dijo: Te ruego, pues, ¿de esta tierra no se dará a tu siervo la carga de un par de mulas? Porque de aquí en adelante tu siervo no ofrecerá holocausto ni sacrificios a otros dioses, sino a Jehová.

18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

18 En esto perdone Jehová a tu siervo: Cuando mi señor entre en el templo de Rimón para adorar en él, y se apoye sobre mi mano, si yo también me inclino en el templo de Rimón, si me inclino en el templo de Rimón, Jehová perdone en esto a tu siervo.

19 And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.

19 Y él le dijo: Vete en paz. Se alejó, pues, de él a cierta distancia.

20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

20 Entonces Giezi, criado de Eliseo, el hombre de Dios, dijo: He aquí mi señor dispensó a este sirio Naamán, no tomando de su mano las cosas que había traído. Vive Jehová, que correré yo tras él y tomaré de él alguna cosa.

21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?

21 Y siguió Giezi a Naamán; y cuando le vio Naamán que venía corriendo tras él, se bajó del carro para recibirle y dijo: ¿Está todo bien?

22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

22 Y él dijo: Todo bien. Mi señor me envía a decir: He aquí, llegaron a mí en esta hora de los montes de Efraín dos jóvenes de los hijos de los profetas; te ruego que les des un talento de plata y dos mudas de ropa.

23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.

23 Y Naamán dijo: Toma, te ruego, dos talentos. Y él le insistió, y ató dos talentos de plata en dos bolsas, y dos mudas de ropa, y todo lo puso a cuestas de dos de sus criados para que lo llevasen delante de él.

24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.

24 Y cuando llegó al monte, él lo tomó todo de manos de ellos y lo guardó en la casa. Luego mandó a los hombres que se fuesen.

25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.

25 Y él entró y se puso delante de su señor. Y Eliseo le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes, Giezi? Y él dijo: Tu siervo no ha ido a ninguna parte.

26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

26 Él entonces le dijo: ¿No fue también mi corazón contigo cuando el hombre se bajó de su carro para recibirte? ¿Es este el momento de tomar plata y de tomar vestidos, olivares, viñas, ovejas, bueyes, siervos y siervas?

27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

27 Por tanto, la lepra de Naamán se te pegará a ti y a tu descendencia para siempre. Y salió de su presencia leproso, blanco como la nieve.
