1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

1 Entonces el rey mandó reunir ante él a todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

2 Y subió el rey a la casa de Jehová con todos los hombres de Judá, y con todos los moradores de Jerusalén, y con los sacerdotes y profetas y con todo el pueblo, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande; y leyó a oídos de ellos todas las palabras del libro del convenio que había sido hallado en la casa de Jehová.

3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

3 Y el rey se puso de pie junto a la columna e hizo convenio delante de Jehová, de que irían en pos de Jehová y guardarían sus mandamientos, y sus testimonios y sus estatutos, con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, y que cumplirían las palabras del convenio que estaban escritas en aquel libro. Y todo el pueblo confirmó el pacto.

4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el.

4 Entonces mandó el rey al sumo sacerdote Hilcías, y a los sacerdotes de segundo orden y a los guardianes de la puerta, que sacasen del templo de Jehová todos los utensilios que habían sido hechos para Baal, y para la imagen de Asera y para todas las huestes del cielo; y los quemó fuera de Jerusalén en los campos del Cedrón, y llevó las cenizas de ellos a Bet-el.

5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

5 Y quitó a los sacerdotes idólatras que habían puesto los reyes de Judá para que quemasen incienso en los lugares altos en las ciudades de Judá y en los alrededores de Jerusalén; y asimismo a los que quemaban incienso a Baal, al sol y a la luna, y a las constelaciones y a todas las huestes del cielo.

6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

6 Hizo también sacar la imagen de Asera fuera de la casa de Jehová, fuera de Jerusalén, al torrente Cedrón, y la quemó junto al torrente Cedrón, y la redujo a polvo y echó el polvo de ella sobre los sepulcros de los hijos del pueblo.

7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

7 Además derribó las casas de los sodomitas que estaban en la casa de Jehová, en las cuales las mujeres tejían para la imagen de Asera.

8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.

8 E hizo venir a todos los sacerdotes de las ciudades de Judá, y profanó los lugares altos donde los sacerdotes quemaban incienso, desde Geba hasta Beerseba; y derribó los lugares altos de las puertas que estaban a la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de la ciudad, que estaban a la izquierda de la puerta de la ciudad.

9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

9 Pero los sacerdotes de los lugares altos no subían al altar de Jehová en Jerusalén, sino que comían panes sin levadura entre sus hermanos.

10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

10 Asimismo profanó el Tofet, que está en el valle del hijo de Hinom, para que ninguno pasase su hijo o su hija por fuego ante Moloc.

11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

11 Quitó también los caballos que los reyes de Judá habían dedicado al sol a la entrada del templo de Jehová, junto a la habitación de Natán-melec, el oficial, el que estaba en los recintos; y quemó con fuego los carros del sol.

12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

12 Además derribó el rey los altares que estaban sobre el techo de la sala de Acaz, que los reyes de Judá habían hecho, y los altares que había hecho Manasés en los dos atrios de la casa de Jehová; y los destrozó, y de allí corrió y arrojó el polvo al torrente Cedrón.

13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

13 Asimismo profanó el rey los lugares altos que estaban delante de Jerusalén, a la derecha del monte de la destrucción, los cuales Salomón, rey de Israel, había edificado a Astoret, la abominación de los sidonios, y a Quemos, la abominación de Moab, y a Milcom, la abominación de los hijos de Amón.

14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.

14 Y quebró las estatuas, y derribó las imágenes de Asera y llenó sus lugares de huesos de hombres.

15 Moreover the altar that was at Beth-el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.

15 Igualmente el altar que estaba en Bet-el y el lugar alto que había hecho Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel; destruyó aquel altar y el lugar alto; y quemó el lugar alto y lo redujo a polvo, y quemó la imagen de Asera.

16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.

16 Y se volvió Josías, y al ver los sepulcros que estaban allí en el monte, envió y sacó los huesos de los sepulcros y los quemó sobre el altar para contaminarlo, conforme a la palabra de Jehová que había profetizado el hombre de Dios, el cual había anunciado estas cosas.

17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth-el.

17 Y después dijo: ¿Qué monumento es este que veo? Y los hombres de la ciudad le respondieron: Este es el sepulcro del hombre de Dios que vino de Judá y profetizó estas cosas que tú has hecho contra el altar de Bet-el.

18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

18 Y él dijo: Dejadlo; nadie mueva sus huesos; y así dejaron sus huesos con los huesos del profeta que había venido de Samaria.

19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth-el.

19 Y todas las casas de los lugares altos que estaban en las ciudades de Samaria, las cuales habían hecho los reyes de Israel para provocar a ira a Jehová, las quitó también Josías, e hizo con ellas como había hecho en Bet-el.

20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.

20 Además mató sobre los altares a todos los sacerdotes de los lugares altos que allí estaban, y quemó sobre ellos huesos de hombres y volvió a Jerusalén.

21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

21 Entonces mandó el rey a todo el pueblo, diciendo: Celebrad la Pascua a Jehová vuestro Dios, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de este convenio.

22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

22 Ciertamente no se había celebrado tal Pascua desde los tiempos en que los jueces gobernaban a Israel, ni en todos los tiempos de los reyes de Israel y de los reyes de Judá.

23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.

23 En el año dieciocho del rey Josías se celebró aquella Pascua a Jehová en Jerusalén.

24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

24 Asimismo quitó Josías a los encantadores, adivinos y terafines, y todas las abominaciones que se veían en la tierra de Judá y en Jerusalén, para cumplir las palabras de la ley que estaban escritas en el libro que el sacerdote Hilcías había hallado en la casa de Jehová.

25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.

25 No hubo otro rey antes de él que se convirtiese a Jehová con todo su corazón, y con toda su alma y con todas su fuerzas, conforme a toda la ley de Moisés, ni después de él se levantó otro igual.

26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.

26 Con todo eso, no desistió Jehová del ardor de su gran ira, que se había encendido contra Judá por todas las provocaciones con que Manasés le había irritado.

27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

27 Y dijo Jehová: También quitaré de mi presencia a Judá, como quité a Israel, y desecharé a esta ciudad que había escogido, a Jerusalén, y a la casa de la cual yo había dicho: Mi nombre estará allí.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

28 Los demás hechos de Josías y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

29 In his days Pharaoh-nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.

29 En aquellos días Faraón Necao, rey de Egipto, subió contra el rey de Asiria al río Éufrates, y salió contra él el rey Josías; pero aquel, en cuanto le vio, lo mató en Meguido.

30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.

30 Y sus siervos lo pusieron en un carro, y lo trajeron muerto de Meguido a Jerusalén y lo sepultaron en su sepulcro. Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz hijo de Josías, y lo ungieron y lo proclamaron rey en lugar de su padre.

31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

31 Joacaz tenía veintitrés años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó tres meses en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Hamutal hija de Jeremías, de Libna.

32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

32 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

33 And Pharaoh-nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

33 Y Faraón Necao lo tuvo preso en Ribla en la provincia de Hamat, para que no reinase en Jerusalén; e impuso sobre la tierra un tributo de cien talentos de plata y uno de oro.

34 And Pharaoh-nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.

34 Entonces Faraón Necao puso como rey a Eliaquim hijo de Josías en lugar de Josías, su padre, y le cambió el nombre por el de Joacim; y tomó a Joacaz y lo llevó a Egipto y este allí murió.

35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh-nechoh.

35 Y Joacim pagó a Faraón la plata y el oro; pero hizo valuar la tierra para dar el dinero conforme al mandamiento de Faraón, sacando la plata y el oro del pueblo de la tierra, de cada uno según la tasación de su hacienda, para darlo a Faraón Necao.

36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

36 Joacim tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó once años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Zebuda hija de Pedaías, de Ruma.

37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

37 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.
