1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

1 Y aconteció que cuando Jehová iba a alzar a Elías en un torbellino al cielo, Elías venía con Eliseo de Gilgal.

2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.

2 Y dijo Elías a Eliseo: Quédate ahora aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado a Bet-el. Y Eliseo dijo: Vive Jehová y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Descendieron, pues, a Bet-el.

3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

3 Y salieron al encuentro de Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Bet-el y le dijeron: ¿Sabes que Jehová te quitará hoy a tu señor de sobre ti? Y él dijo: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.

4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

4 Y Elías le volvió a decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado a Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Pasaron, pues, a Jericó.

5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

5 Y se acercaron a Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó y le dijeron: ¿Sabes que Jehová te quitará hoy a tu señor de sobre ti? Y él respondió: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.

6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

6 Y Elías le dijo: Te ruego que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Y se fueron los dos.

7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

7 Y llegaron cincuenta hombres de los hijos de los profetas y se pararon enfrente, a lo lejos; y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán.

8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

8 Tomó entonces Elías su manto, y lo dobló y golpeó las aguas, y estas se apartaron a uno y a otro lado, y ambos pasaron por lo seco.

9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

9 Y aconteció que cuando hubieron pasado, Elías dijo a Eliseo: Pide lo que quieras que haga por ti, antes que yo sea quitado de ti. Y dijo Eliseo: Te ruego que una doble porción de tu espíritu sea sobre mí.

10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

10 Y él le dijo: Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me ves cuando sea quitado de ti, te será concedido; pero si no, no.

11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

11 Y sucedió que, yendo ellos hablando, he aquí, un carro de fuego con caballos de fuego los apartó a los dos, y Elías subió al cielo en un torbellino.

12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

12 Al ver esto, Eliseo clamó: ¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de a caballo! Y no le vio más; y tomó sus vestidos y los rasgó en dos partes.

13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

13 Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y regresó y se paró a la orilla del Jordán.

14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

14 Y tomó el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y golpeó las aguas y dijo: ¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías? Y cuando también hubo golpeado las aguas, estas se apartaron a uno y a otro lado, y Eliseo pasó.

15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

15 Y cuando le vieron los hijos de los profetas que estaban al otro lado, en Jericó, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías reposa sobre Eliseo. Y fueron a recibirle y se postraron en tierra ante él.

16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

16 Y dijeron: He aquí, hay con tus siervos cincuenta hombres fuertes; te rogamos que dejes que vayan y busquen a tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el espíritu de Jehová y lo ha arrojado en algún monte o en algún valle. Y él les dijo: No los enviéis.

17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

17 Pero ellos le importunaron tanto que, avergonzándose, dijo: Enviadlos. Entonces ellos enviaron a cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron durante tres días, pero no lo hallaron.

18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

18 Y cuando volvieron a él, que se había quedado en Jericó, él les dijo: ¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?

19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

19 Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron a Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en donde está colocada esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; pero las aguas son malas y la tierra es estéril.

20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

20 Entonces él dijo: Traedme una vasija nueva y poned en ella sal. Y se la trajeron.

21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

21 Y él salió al manantial de las aguas, y echó dentro la sal y dijo: Así dice Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas y no habrá más en ellas ni muerte ni esterilidad.

22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

22 Y fueron saneadas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme a la palabra que habló Eliseo.

23 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

23 Después subió de allí a Bet-el; y subiendo por el camino, salieron unos muchachos de la ciudad y se burlaban de él, diciendo: ¡Sube, calvo! ¡Sube, calvo!

24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

24 Y miró él hacia atrás, y los vio y los maldijo en el nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osas del bosque y despedazaron a cuarenta y dos de esos muchachos.

25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

25 De allí se fue al monte Carmelo, y de allí regresó a Samaria.
