1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

1 En el año duodécimo de Acaz, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Oseas hijo de Ela en Samaria sobre Israel, y reinó nueve años.

2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

2 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él.

3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

3 Contra este subió Salmanasar, rey de los asirios; y Oseas fue hecho su siervo y le pagaba tributo.

4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

4 Pero el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba, porque había enviado mensajeros a So, rey de Egipto, y no había pagado tributo al rey de Asiria, como había hecho cada año, por lo que el rey de Asiria le detuvo y le hizo prisionero en la casa de la cárcel.

5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

5 Y el rey de Asiria subió contra todo el país, y subió contra Samaria y la sitió durante tres años.

6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

6 En el año nueve de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria y llevó cautivo a Israel a Asiria; y los puso en Halah y en Habor, junto al río de Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos.

7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

7 Y esto sucedió porque los hijos de Israel pecaron contra Jehová su Dios, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto de bajo la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto, y temieron a dioses ajenos,

8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

8 y anduvieron en los estatutos de las naciones que Jehová había echado de delante de los hijos de Israel, y en los que hicieron los reyes de Israel.

9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

9 Y los hijos de Israel hicieron secretamente cosas no rectas contra Jehová su Dios, edificándose lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de los atalayas hasta las ciudades fortificadas,

10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

10 y levantaron estatuas e imágenes de Asera en todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

11 Y quemaron allí incienso en todos los lugares altos, a la manera de las naciones que Jehová había echado de delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas para provocar a ira a Jehová,

12 For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

12 pues sirvieron a los ídolos, acerca de los cuales Jehová les había dicho: Vosotros no habéis de hacer esto.

13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

13 Jehová entonces testificó contra Israel y contra Judá, por medio de todos los profetas y de todos los videntes, diciendo: Volveos de vuestros malos caminos y guardad mis mandamientos y mis estatutos, conforme a todas las leyes que yo ordené a vuestros padres y que os he enviado por medio de mis siervos los profetas.

14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

14 Pero ellos no obedecieron, sino que endurecieron su cerviz, como la cerviz de sus padres, que no creyeron en Jehová su Dios.

15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

15 Y desecharon sus estatutos y su convenio que él había concertado con sus padres, y los testimonios que él había dicho contra ellos; y siguieron la vanidad y se hicieron vanos, y fueron en pos de las naciones que estaban alrededor de ellos, de las cuales Jehová les había mandado que no hiciesen como ellas.

16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

16 Y dejaron todos los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros, y también imágenes de Asera, y adoraron a todo el ejército del cielo y sirvieron a Baal.

17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

17 E hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por fuego; y se dieron a adivinaciones y sortilegios, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, provocándole a ira.

18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

18 Por tanto, Jehová se airó en gran manera contra Israel, y los quitó de delante de su rostro y solo quedó la tribu de Judá.

19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

19 Pero ni aun Judá guardó los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, sino que anduvieron en los estatutos de Israel, los cuales ellos habían hecho.

20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

20 Y desechó Jehová a toda la descendencia de Israel, y los afligió y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia.

21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.

21 Por eso separó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat; y Jeroboam apartó a Israel de seguir a Jehová y les hizo cometer un gran pecado.

22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

22 Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados de Jeroboam que él hizo, sin apartarse de ellos,

23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

23 hasta que Jehová quitó a Israel de delante de su rostro, como él lo había dicho por medio de todos los profetas, sus siervos; e Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta hoy.

24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

24 Y trajo el rey de Asiria gente de Babilonia, y de Cuta, y de Ava, y de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y tomaron posesión de Samaria y habitaron en sus ciudades.

25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

25 Y aconteció que al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, como no temían ellos a Jehová, envió Jehová contra ellos leones que los mataban.

26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

26 Entonces hablaron ellos al rey de Asiria, diciendo: Las gentes que tú trajiste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria no conocen la costumbre del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado leones en medio de ellos; y he aquí, los leones los matan, porque no conocen la costumbre del Dios de la tierra.

27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

27 Y el rey de Asiria mandó, diciendo: Llevad allá a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de allá, que vaya y habite allí y les enseñe la costumbre del Dios de esa tierra.

28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

28 Y fue uno de los sacerdotes que habían llevado cautivo de Samaria y habitó en Bet-el, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Jehová.

29 Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

29 Pero cada nación se hizo sus propios dioses, y los pusieron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían hecho los de Samaria, cada nación en la ciudad donde habitaba.

30 And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

30 Los de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot, y los de Cuta hicieron a Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron a Asima;

31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

31 los aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac; y los de Sefarvaim quemaban sus hijos en el fuego a Adramelec y a Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.

32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

32 También temían a Jehová, y nombraron sacerdotes de entre la gente común para los lugares altos, quienes sacrificaban para ellos en los templos de los lugares altos.

33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

33 Temían a Jehová, pero servían a sus propios dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido trasladados.

34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

34 Hasta el día de hoy siguen las costumbres de antes; no temen a Jehová, ni guardan sus estatutos, ni sus decretos, ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que ordenó Jehová a los hijos de Jacob, al que puso el nombre de Israel;

35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

35 con los cuales Jehová había hecho convenio, y les había mandado, diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses, ni los adoraréis, ni les serviréis ni les ofreceréis sacrificios;

36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

36 pero a Jehová, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con gran poder y brazo extendido, a él temeréis, y a él adoraréis y a él haréis sacrificio.

37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

37 Los estatutos, y los decretos, y la ley y los mandamientos que os dio por escrito, cuidaréis siempre de ponerlos por obra; y no temeréis a dioses ajenos.

38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

38 Y no olvidaréis el convenio que hice con vosotros ni temeréis a dioses ajenos;

39 But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

39 mas temed a Jehová vuestro Dios, y él os librará de manos de todos vuestros enemigos.

40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

40 Pero ellos no escucharon, sino que hicieron según sus antiguas costumbres.

41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

41 Así temieron a Jehová aquellas naciones, y a la vez sirvieron a sus ídolos, y también sus hijos y los hijos de sus hijos; tal como hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy.
