1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:

1 Acaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David, su padre,

2 For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.

2 sino que anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición a los baales.

3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

3 Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, y quemó a sus hijos en el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que Jehová había arrojado delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

4 Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, y en los collados y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

5 Por lo cual Jehová su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales le derrotaron y tomaron de él un gran número de cautivos que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual le causó una gran mortandad.

6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

6 Porque Peka hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día a ciento veinte mil, todos hombres valientes, por cuanto habían abandonado a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres.

7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

7 Asimismo Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, y a Azricam, su mayordomo, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

8 Y los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas, además de haber tomado de ellos un gran botín, el cual llevaron a Samaria.

9 But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.

9 Pero había allí un profeta de Jehová que se llamaba Obed, y él salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria y les dijo: He aquí, Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, por su enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis matado con una ira tan grande que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

10 And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?

10 Y ahora pensáis sujetar a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como vuestros siervos y siervas; pero, ¿no habéis vosotros pecado contra Jehová vuestro Dios?

11 Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

11 Ahora pues, oídme y devolved a los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos, porque el furor de la ira de Jehová está contra vosotros.

12 Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

12 Entonces se levantaron algunos hombres de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, y Ezequías hijo de Salum y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.

13 And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

13 Y les dijeron: No traigáis aquí a los cautivos, porque el pecado contra Jehová estará sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo ya muy grande nuestro delito y el furor de la ira sobre Israel.

14 So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

14 Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y el botín delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.

15 And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

15 Y se levantaron los hombres nombrados, y tomaron a los cautivos y vistieron del botín a todos los que estaban desnudos; y los vistieron y los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los débiles y los llevaron hasta Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos volvieron a Samaria.

16 At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

16 En aquel tiempo el rey Acaz envió a pedir a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudasen;

17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

17 porque también los edomitas habían venido de nuevo y habían atacado a los de Judá y habían llevado cautivos.

18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

18 Asimismo, los filisteos habían invadido las ciudades de la llanura y al sur de Judá, y habían tomado Bet-semes, y Ajalón, y Gederot, y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaron en ellas.

19 For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.

19 Porque Jehová había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz, rey de Israel, por cuanto él había permitido el desenfreno en Judá y había pecado gravemente contra Jehová.

20 And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

20 Y vino contra él Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, y lo afligió en vez de fortalecerlo.

21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.

21 Aunque Acaz había tomado una porción del tesoro de la casa de Jehová, y de la casa real y de las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de Asiria, pero él no le ayudó.

22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

22 Además el rey Acaz, en el tiempo de su angustia, añadió mayor pecado contra Jehová;

23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

23 porque ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que le habían derrotado, y dijo: Puesto que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también haré sacrificios a ellos para que me ayuden; pero estos fueron la causa de su ruina y la de todo Israel.

24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

24 Además de eso, recogió Acaz los utensilios de la casa de Dios, y los hizo pedazos, y cerró las puertas de la casa de Jehová y se hizo altares en Jerusalén en todos los rincones.

25 And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.

25 Hizo también lugares altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando así a ira a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres.

26 Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

26 Los demás de sus hechos y todos sus caminos, los primeros y los postreros, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

27 Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén; pero no le pusieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ezequías.
