1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

1 Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, que tenía dieciséis años de edad, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de Amasías, su padre.

2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

2 Uzías edificó Elot y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

3 Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

3 Uzías tenía dieciséis años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y dos años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

4 E hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías, su padre.

5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

5 Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, quien era entendido en visiones de Dios; y en los días en que él buscó a Jehová, Dios le prosperó.

6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

6 Y salió y peleó contra los filisteos, y derribó el muro de Gat, y el muro de Jabnia y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod y entre los filisteos.

7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.

7 Y Dios le ayudó contra los filisteos, y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal y contra los amonitas.

8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.

8 Y los amonitas pagaron tributo a Uzías, y se difundió su nombre hasta la entrada de Egipto, porque se había hecho sumamente poderoso.

9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

9 Uzías también edificó torres en Jerusalén, en la puerta del ángulo, y en la puerta del valle y en la esquina del muro; y las fortificó.

10 Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.

10 Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto y abrió muchas cisternas, porque tuvo mucho ganado, así en los campos como en las llanuras; y labradores y viñadores, tanto en los montes como en los llanos fértiles, porque amaba la tierra.

11 Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

11 Tuvo también Uzías un ejército de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra por escuadrones, de acuerdo con el número de la lista hecha por mano de Jehiel, el escriba, y de Maasías, el oficial, y bajo la dirección de Hananías, uno de los capitanes del rey.

12 The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.

12 El número total de los jefes de las casas paternas de los hombres fuertes y valientes era de dos mil seiscientos.

13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

13 Y bajo el mando de estos estaba un ejército poderoso de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra el enemigo.

14 And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.

14 Y Uzías preparó para todo el ejército escudos, y lanzas, y yelmos, y armaduras, y arcos y hondas para tirar piedras.

15 And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

15 E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas inventadas por hombres hábiles, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar flechas y grandes piedras; y su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue ayudado asombrosamente, hasta hacerse poderoso.

16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

16 Pero cuando se hizo fuerte, su corazón se enalteció para su ruina, porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso.

17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:

17 Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, hombres valientes.

18 And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.

18 Y se pusieron contra el rey Uzías y le dijeron: No te corresponde a ti, Uzías, el quemar incienso a Jehová, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para ello. Sal del santuario, porque has pecado, y no te será para honra de Jehová Dios.

19 Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.

19 Entonces Uzías, que tenía en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira; y en su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le brotó en la frente, delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del incienso.

20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

20 Y le miró el sumo sacerdote Azarías y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí, la lepra estaba en su frente; y le hicieron salir apresuradamente de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa en salir, porque Jehová lo había herido.

21 And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

21 Así el rey Uzías quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte y, siendo leproso, habitó en una casa apartada, porque había sido excluido de la casa de Jehová; y Jotam, su hijo, se hizo cargo de la casa real, juzgando al pueblo de la tierra.

22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.

22 Los demás hechos de Uzías, los primeros y los postreros, los escribió el profeta Isaías hijo de Amós.

23 So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

23 Y durmió Uzías con sus padres y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales, porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó su hijo Jotam en su lugar.
