1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

1 Y los habitantes de Jerusalén hicieron rey en su lugar a Ocozías, su hijo menor, porque la banda de hombres que vinieron con los árabes al campamento había matado a todos los mayores, por lo cual reinó Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.

2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

2 Cuando Ocozías comenzó a reinar, tenía cuarenta y dos años, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Atalía hija de Omri.

3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.

3 También él anduvo en los caminos de la casa de Acab, porque su madre le aconsejaba a actuar impíamente.

4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.

4 Hizo, pues, lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, como la casa de Acab; porque después de la muerte de su padre, ellos le aconsejaron para su perdición.

5 He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead: and the Syrians smote Joram.

5 Y él también anduvo en los consejos de ellos y fue a la guerra con Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, contra Hazael, rey de Siria, a Ramot de Galaad, donde los sirios hirieron a Joram.

6 And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.

6 Y volvió a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que le habían hecho en Ramá, peleando con Hazael, rey de Siria. Y descendió Azarías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, para visitar a Joram hijo de Acab, en Jezreel, porque allí estaba enfermo.

7 And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

7 Pero esto venía de Dios, para que Ocozías fuese destruido al venir a Joram; porque cuando llegó, salió con Joram contra Jehú hijo de Nimsi, al cual Jehová había ungido para que exterminase a la casa de Acab.

8 And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.

8 Y aconteció que cuando Jehú ejecutaba juicio contra la casa de Acab y halló a los príncipes de Judá y a los hijos de los hermanos de Ocozías, que servían a Ocozías, los mató.

9 And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.

9 Y buscó a Ocozías, y lo capturaron cuando estaba escondido en Samaria; y lo llevaron a Jehú y le mataron, y le dieron sepultura, porque dijeron: Es hijo de Josafat, quien buscó a Jehová con todo su corazón. Y la casa de Ocozías no tenía fuerzas para retener el reino.

10 But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.

10 Cuando Atalía, madre de Ocozías, vio que su hijo había muerto, se levantó y exterminó a toda la descendencia real de la casa de Judá.

11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.

11 Pero Josabet, hija del rey, tomó a Joás hijo de Ocozías, y lo sacó de entre los hijos del rey, a los cuales estaban matando, y le puso a él y a su nodriza en una alcoba. Así lo escondió Josabet, hija del rey Joram, esposa del sacerdote Joiada (porque ella era hermana de Ocozías), de la vista de Atalía, y esta no lo mató.

12 And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.

12 Y él estuvo escondido con ellos en la casa de Dios seis años. Entretanto, Atalía reinaba en el país.
