1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

1 Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram, su hijo.

2 And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

2 Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josafat: Azarías, y Jehiel, y Zacarías, y Azarías, y Micael y Sefatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.

3 And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.

3 Y su padre les había dado muchos presentes de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas y ciudades fortificadas en Judá; pero había dado el reino a Joram, porque él era el primogénito.

4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.

4 Cuando Joram fue elevado al reino de su padre y se hizo fuerte, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos y también a algunos de los príncipes de Israel.

5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

5 Joram tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

6 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab, porque tenía por esposa a la hija de Acab; e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

7 Pero Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa del convenio que había hecho con David, y porque le había dicho que le daría una lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

8 In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

8 En sus días se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y proclamaron su propio rey.

9 Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.

9 Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y todos sus carros con él; y sucedió que se levantó de noche y derrotó a los edomitas que le habían sitiado a él y a todos los capitanes de los carros.

10 So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

10 Así se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá hasta hoy. En ese mismo tiempo también se rebeló Libna contra su dominio, por cuanto Joram había dejado a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres.

11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.

11 Además de esto, hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyesen e indujo a Judá a ello.

12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

12 Y le llegó una carta del profeta Elías, que decía: Jehová, el Dios de David, tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat, tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:

13 sino que has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que se prostituyesen Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén, como se prostituyó la casa de Acab; y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la familia de tu padre, quienes eran mejores que tú,

14 Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

14 he aquí, Jehová herirá a tu pueblo con una gran plaga, y a tus hijos y a tus esposas y todas tus posesiones;

15 And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

15 y a ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad de cada día.

16 Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:

16 Entonces Jehová despertó contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes;

17 And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

17 y subieron contra Judá, y la invadieron y se llevaron todos los bienes que se hallaban en la casa del rey, y también a sus hijos y a sus esposas; y no le quedó más hijo que Joacaz, el menor de sus hijos.

18 And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

18 Después de todo esto, Jehová lo hirió con una enfermedad incurable en las entrañas.

19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

19 Y aconteció que al pasar muchos días, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron a causa de la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y los de su pueblo no encendieron fuego en su honor, como lo habían hecho con sus padres.

20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

20 Cuando comenzó a reinar, tenía treinta y dos años; y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y murió sin que le quisieran. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.
