1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.

1 Determinó, pues, Salomón edificar una casa al nombre de Jehová, y otra casa para su reino.

2 And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

2 Y contó Salomón setenta mil hombres que llevasen cargas, y ochenta mil hombres que labrasen piedra en los montes y tres mil seiscientos que los dirigiesen.

3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

3 Y envió a decir Salomón a Hiram, rey de Tiro: Haz conmigo como hiciste con David, mi padre, enviándole cedros para que edificara para sí casa en que habitar.

4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

4 He aquí, yo voy a edificar una casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, para consagrársela, para quemar incienso aromático delante de él, y para la colocación continua de los panes de la proposición, y para los holocaustos de la mañana y de la tarde, y de los días de reposo, y de las lunas nuevas y de las fiestas solemnes de Jehová nuestro Dios; esto será perpetuo en Israel.

5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

5 Y la casa que voy a edificar ha de ser grande, porque el Dios nuestro es grande sobre todos los dioses.

6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

6 Pero, ¿quién será capaz de edificarle una casa, puesto que los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerle? ¿Quién, pues, soy yo, para que le edifique una casa, aunque solo sea para quemar ofrendas delante de él?

7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

7 Envíame, pues, ahora un hombre hábil, que sepa trabajar en oro, y en plata, y en bronce, y en hierro, y en púrpura, y en grana y en azul, y que sepa esculpir con los maestros que están conmigo en Judá y en Jerusalén, los cuales preparó mi padre David.

8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,

8 Envíame también del Líbano madera de cedro, de ciprés y de sándalo, porque yo sé que tus siervos saben cortar los árboles del Líbano; y he aquí, mis siervos estarán con los tuyos,

9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

9 para que me preparen mucha madera, porque la casa que voy a edificar ha de ser grande y maravillosa.

10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

10 Y he aquí, para tus siervos, los cortadores de madera, daré veinte mil coros de trigo en grano, y veinte mil coros de cebada, y veinte mil batos de vino y veinte mil batos de aceite.

11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.

11 Entonces Hiram, rey de Tiro, respondió por un escrito que envió a Salomón: Porque Jehová amó a su pueblo, te ha hecho rey sobre ellos.

12 Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.

12 Además decía Hiram: Bendito sea Jehová, el Dios de Israel, que hizo los cielos y la tierra, y que dio al rey David un hijo sabio, dotado de prudencia y entendimiento, que va a edificar una casa a Jehová y una casa para su reino.

13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father's,

13 Yo, pues, te he enviado un hombre hábil, dotado de entendimiento, Hiram-abi,

14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.

14 hijo de una mujer de las hijas de Dan, y su padre era de Tiro, el cual sabe trabajar en oro, y en plata, en bronce, en hierro, en piedra y en madera, en púrpura, en azul, y en lino fino y en carmesí; asimismo sabe tallar toda clase de figuras y sacar toda forma de diseño que se le pida, junto a tus hombres peritos y a los de mi señor David, tu padre.

15 Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:

15 Ahora pues, envíe mi señor a sus siervos el trigo y la cebada, el aceite y el vino, de que ha hablado;

16 And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.

16 y nosotros cortaremos en el Líbano la madera que necesites, y te la llevaremos en balsas por el mar hasta Jope, y tú la harás subir hasta Jerusalén.

17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.

17 Y Salomón hizo un censo de los hombres extranjeros que había en la tierra de Israel, después del censo que David, su padre, había hecho, y se halló que fueron ciento cincuenta y tres mil seiscientos.

18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

18 Y señaló de ellos setenta mil para llevar cargas, y ochenta mil canteros en los montes, y tres mil seiscientos como capataces para hacer trabajar al pueblo.
