1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

1 Y vino el espíritu de Dios sobre Azarías hijo de Obed,

2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

2 y salió al encuentro de Asa y le dijo: Oídme, Asa y todo Judá y Benjamín: Jehová estará con vosotros si vosotros estáis con él; y si le buscáis, vosotros le hallaréis; pero si le dejáis, él también os dejará.

3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

3 Muchos días ha estado Israel sin el Dios verdadero y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley;

4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

4 pero cuando en su tribulación se volvieron a Jehová, el Dios de Israel, y le buscaron, ellos le hallaron.

5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

5 En aquellos tiempos no había paz, ni para el que entraba ni para el que salía, sino muchas aflicciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras.

6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

6 Y una nación destruía a otra, y una ciudad a otra ciudad, porque Dios los afligió con toda clase de adversidades.

7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

7 Pero esforzaos vosotros, y no desfallezcan vuestras manos, pues hay recompensa para vuestra obra.

8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

8 Y cuando Asa oyó estas palabras y la profecía del profeta Oded, cobró ánimo y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá, y de Benjamín y de las ciudades que él había tomado en los montes de Efraín; y reparó el altar de Jehová que estaba delante del pórtico de Jehová.

9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

9 Después reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín, y con ellos a los forasteros de Efraín, y de Manasés y de Simeón, porque muchos de Israel se habían pasado a él al ver que Jehová su Dios estaba con él.

10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

10 Se reunieron, pues, en Jerusalén, en el mes tercero del año decimoquinto del reinado de Asa.

11 And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

11 Y aquel mismo día sacrificaron para Jehová, del botín que habían traído, setecientos bueyes y siete mil ovejas.

12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

12 E hicieron convenio de buscar a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma;

13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

13 y que todo el que no buscase a Jehová, el Dios de Israel, muriese, grande o pequeño, hombre o mujer.

14 And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

14 Y juraron a Jehová en alta voz y con gritos de júbilo, y al son de trompetas y de cuernos.

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.

15 Y todos los de Judá se alegraron de este juramento, porque de todo su corazón lo juraban, y con toda su voluntad lo buscaban; y ellos le hallaron, y Jehová les dio reposo por todas partes.

16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

16 Y aun a Maaca, madre del rey Asa, él mismo la depuso de ser reina, porque ella había hecho una imagen de Asera; y Asa derribó la imagen, y la desmenuzó y la quemó junto al torrente Cedrón.

17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

17 Pero los lugares altos no fueron quitados de Israel, aunque el corazón de Asa fue perfecto en todos sus días.

18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

18 Y él trajo a la casa de Dios lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él mismo había consagrado: plata, y oro y utensilios.

19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

19 Y no hubo más guerra hasta los treinta y cinco años del reinado de Asa.
