1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

1 Y cuando David y sus hombres llegaron a Siclag al tercer día, los de Amalec habían invadido el sur y Siclag, y habían asolado Siclag y la habían quemado con fuego.

2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

2 Y se habían llevado cautivas a las mujeres y a todos los que estaban allí, desde el menor hasta el mayor; pero a nadie habían dado muerte, sino que se los llevaron cautivos y siguieron su camino.

3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

3 Llegó, pues, David con sus hombres a la ciudad, y he aquí que estaba quemada, y sus esposas y sus hijos e hijas habían sido llevados cautivos.

4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

4 Entonces David y la gente que estaba con él alzaron su voz y lloraron hasta que les faltaron las fuerzas para llorar.

5 And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

5 Las dos esposas de David, Ahinoam, la jezreelita, y Abigail, la que fue esposa de Nabal, el de Carmel, también habían sido llevadas cautivas.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

6 Y David estaba muy angustiado, porque el pueblo hablaba de apedrearlo; porque todo el pueblo estaba con amargura de alma, cada uno por sus hijos y por sus hijas; pero David se fortaleció en Jehová su Dios.

7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.

7 Y dijo David al sacerdote Abiatar hijo de Ahimelec: Yo te ruego que me traigas el efod. Y Abiatar trajo el efod a David.

8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

8 Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Perseguiré a esta tropa? ¿La podré alcanzar? Y él le dijo: Persíguela, porque de cierto la alcanzarás y sin falta librarás a todos los cautivos.

9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.

9 Partió, pues, David, él y los seiscientos hombres que estaban con él, y llegaron hasta el torrente de Besor, donde se quedaron algunos de ellos.

10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.

10 Y David los persiguió con cuatrocientos hombres, porque se quedaron atrás doscientos que estaban cansados y no pudieron pasar el torrente de Besor.

11 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;

11 Y hallaron en el campo a un hombre egipcio y se lo llevaron a David, y le dieron pan para comer y agua para beber.

12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.

12 Le dieron también un pedazo de masa de higos secos y dos racimos de pasas. Y luego que comió, volvió en él su espíritu, porque no había comido pan ni bebido agua en tres días y tres noches.

13 And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.

13 Y le dijo David: ¿De quién eres tú? ¿Y de dónde eres? Y respondió el joven egipcio: Yo soy siervo de un amalecita, y me dejó mi amo hace tres días porque yo estaba enfermo.

14 We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.

14 Hicimos una incursión en la parte del sur de los cereteos, y en la de Judá y en el sur de Caleb; y pusimos fuego a Siclag.

15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.

15 Y le dijo David: ¿Me llevarás tú a esa tropa? Y él dijo: Júrame por Dios que no me matarás ni me entregarás en manos de mi amo, y yo te llevaré a esa gente.

16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

16 Lo llevó, pues; y he aquí que estaban dispersos sobre la faz de toda aquella tierra, comiendo y bebiendo y haciendo fiesta por todo aquel gran botín que habían tomado de la tierra de los filisteos y de la tierra de Judá.

17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

17 Y los atacó David desde aquella mañana hasta el atardecer del día siguiente; y no escapó ninguno de ellos, salvo cuatrocientos jóvenes que montaron en camellos y huyeron.

18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.

18 Y recuperó David todo lo que los amalecitas habían tomado, y asimismo rescató David a sus dos esposas.

19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.

19 Y no les faltó cosa alguna, ni chica ni grande, ni hijos ni hijas, ni nada de lo robado, ni nada de todas las cosas que les habían tomado; todo lo recuperó David.

20 And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.

20 Tomó también David todas las ovejas y el ganado mayor; y llevándolo todo delante, decían: Este es el botín de David.

21 And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.

21 Y vino David a los doscientos hombres que habían quedado cansados y que no habían podido seguir a David, a los que habían hecho quedarse en el torrente de Besor; y ellos salieron a recibir a David y al pueblo que con él estaba. Y cuando David se acercó a la gente, los saludó con paz.

22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.

22 Entonces todos los malos y perversos de entre los que habían ido con David respondieron y dijeron: Porque no fueron con nosotros, no les daremos del botín que hemos recuperado, sino solo a cada uno su esposa y sus hijos; que los tomen y se vayan.

23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.

23 Y David dijo: No hagáis eso, hermanos míos, con lo que nos ha dado Jehová, quien nos ha guardado y ha entregado en nuestras manos la banda que vino contra nosotros.

24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.

24 ¿Y quién os escuchará en este caso? Porque igual parte ha de ser la de los que descienden a la batalla y la de los que se quedan con el bagaje; se repartirá por igual.

25 And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.

25 Y desde aquel día en adelante, él lo estableció como estatuto y decreto en Israel, hasta hoy.

26 And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;

26 Y cuando David llegó a Siclag, envió del botín a los ancianos de Judá, sus amigos, diciendo: He aquí, un presente para vosotros del botín de los enemigos de Jehová.

27 To them which were in Beth-el, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir,

27 Lo envió a los que estaban en Bet-el, y a los que estaban en Ramot, al sur, y a los que estaban en Jatir,

28 And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa,

28 y a los que estaban en Aroer, y a los que estaban en Sifmot, y a los que estaban en Estemoa,

29 And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,

29 y a los que estaban en Racal, y a los que estaban en las ciudades de Jerameel, y a los que estaban en las ciudades de los ceneos,

30 And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chor-ashan, and to them which were in Athach,

30 y a los que estaban en Horma, y a los que estaban en Corasán, y a los que estaban en Atac,

31 And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.

31 y a los que estaban en Hebrón y en todos los lugares donde David había estado con sus hombres.
