1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

1 Y Ana oró y dijo: Mi corazón se regocija en Jehová; mi poder se exalta en Jehová; mi boca se ensancha contra mis enemigos, por cuanto me alegro en tu salvación.

2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

2 No hay santo como Jehová, porque no hay ninguno fuera de ti, ni hay roca como el Dios nuestro.

3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

3 No habléis excesivamente de grandezas; cesen las palabras arrogantes de vuestra boca, porque Jehová es el Dios de todo saber, y a él le toca pesar las acciones.

4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

4 Los arcos de los fuertes son quebrados, y los débiles se ciñen de fortaleza.

5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

5 Los saciados se alquilan por pan, y dejan de tener hambre los hambrientos; hasta la estéril da a luz siete, y la que tenía muchos hijos languidece.

6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

6 Jehová da la muerte y él da la vida; él hace descender al Seol y hace subir.

7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

7 Jehová da pobreza y da riqueza; abate y enaltece.

8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them.

8 Él levanta del polvo al pobre, y al menesteroso alza del muladar, para hacerlos sentar con los príncipes y heredar un trono de honor. Porque de Jehová son las columnas de la tierra, y él asentó sobre ellas el mundo.

9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

9 Él guarda los pies de sus santos, mas los impíos perecen en tinieblas, porque nadie será fuerte por su propia fuerza.

10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

10 Delante de Jehová serán quebrantados sus adversarios, y sobre ellos tronará desde los cielos; Jehová juzgará los confines de la tierra, y dará fortaleza a su Rey, y enaltecerá el poder de su Ungido.

11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

11 Y Elcana volvió a su casa en Ramá, y el niño servía a Jehová delante del sacerdote Elí.

12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

12 Mas los hijos de Elí eran hombres malos, que no conocían a Jehová.

13 And the priests' custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;

13 Y la costumbre de los sacerdotes con el pueblo era que, cuando alguno ofrecía sacrificio, venía el criado del sacerdote mientras la carne se cocía, trayendo en su mano un garfio de tres dientes,

14 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

14 y lo metía en el perol, o en la olla, o en el caldero o en el pote; y todo lo que sacaba el garfio, el sacerdote lo tomaba para sí. De esta manera hacían con todo israelita que venía a Silo.

15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.

15 Asimismo, antes de quemar la grasa, venía el criado del sacerdote y decía al que sacrificaba: Da carne para asar para el sacerdote, porque no tomará de ti carne cocida, sino cruda.

16 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.

16 Y si el hombre le respondía: Quemen primero la grasa, y después toma tanto como quieras, él respondía: No, sino dámela ahora mismo; de otra manera, yo la tomaré por la fuerza.

17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

17 Era, pues, muy grande el pecado de los jóvenes delante de Jehová, porque los hombres menospreciaban los sacrificios a Jehová.

18 But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

18 Y Samuel, siendo niño, ministraba delante de Jehová, vestido con un efod de lino.

19 Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

19 Y le hacía su madre una túnica pequeña y se la traía cada año, cuando subía con su marido para ofrecer el sacrificio anual.

20 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

20 Y Elí bendijo a Elcana y a su mujer, diciendo: Jehová te dé hijos de esta mujer en lugar del que dedicó a Jehová. Y se volvieron a su casa.

21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

21 Y visitó Jehová a Ana, y concibió y dio a luz tres hijos y dos hijas. Y el niño Samuel crecía delante de Jehová.

22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

22 Y Elí era ya muy anciano y oía todo lo que sus hijos hacían a todo Israel, y cómo dormían con las mujeres que velaban a la puerta del tabernáculo de reunión.

23 And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.

23 Y les dijo: ¿Por qué hacéis cosas semejantes? Porque yo oigo de todo este pueblo acerca de vuestros malos procederes.

24 Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD's people to transgress.

24 No, hijos míos, porque no es buena fama la que yo oigo, pues hacéis pecar al pueblo de Jehová.

25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

25 Si peca el hombre contra el hombre, Dios intercederá por él; pero si alguno peca contra Jehová, ¿quién intercederá por él? Pero ellos no oyeron la voz de su padre, porque Jehová quería hacerlos morir.

26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

26 Y el niño Samuel iba creciendo en estatura y en gracia delante de Dios y delante de los hombres.

27 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

27 Y vino un varón de Dios a Elí y le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿No me manifesté yo claramente a la casa de tu padre cuando estaban en Egipto en la casa de Faraón?

28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

28 Y yo le escogí para ser mi sacerdote entre todas las tribus de Israel, para que ofreciese sobre mi altar, y quemase incienso y vistiese el efod delante de mí; y di a la casa de tu padre todas las ofrendas de los hijos de Israel.

29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

29 ¿Por qué habéis hollado mis sacrificios y mis ofrendas que yo mandé ofrecer en mi morada; y has honrado a tus hijos más que a mí, engordándoos con lo principal de todas las ofrendas de mi pueblo Israel?

30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

30 Por tanto, Jehová el Dios de Israel dice: Yo había dicho que tu casa y la casa de tu padre andarían delante de mí perpetuamente; mas ahora ha dicho Jehová: Nunca haga yo tal cosa, porque yo honraré a los que me honran, y los que me desprecian serán tenidos en poco.

31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.

31 He aquí, vienen días en que cortaré tu brazo y el brazo de la casa de tu padre, de modo que no haya anciano en tu casa.

32 And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.

32 Y verás un adversario en mi morada, en todas las cosas buenas que haga a Israel; y nunca habrá anciano en tu casa.

33 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.

33 Y el varón tuyo que yo no excluya de mi altar será para hacer consumir tus ojos y llenar tu alma de dolor; mas todos los nacidos en tu casa morirán en la flor de la vida.

34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.

34 Y te será por señal esto que acontecerá a tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees: ambos morirán en el mismo día.

35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

35 Y yo me levantaré un sacerdote fiel, que haga conforme a mi corazón y a mi alma; y yo le edificaré una casa firme, y andará delante de mi ungido todos los días.

36 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.

36 Y acontecerá que el que haya quedado en tu casa vendrá a postrársele por una moneda de plata y un bocado de pan, diciéndole: Te ruego que me pongas en algún oficio sacerdotal para que coma un bocado de pan.
