1 And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

1 Y habló Saúl a Jonatán, su hijo, y a todos sus criados, para que matasen a David; mas Jonatán hijo de Saúl apreciaba a David en gran manera.

2 But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

2 Y Jonatán le dio aviso a David, diciendo: Saúl, mi padre, procura matarte; por tanto, ten cuidado, te ruego, hasta la mañana y escóndete en un paraje oculto.

3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

3 Y yo saldré y estaré junto a mi padre en el campo donde estés; y hablaré de ti a mi padre y te haré saber lo que vea.

4 And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

4 Y Jonatán habló bien de David a su padre Saúl y le dijo: No peque el rey contra su siervo David, porque ninguna cosa ha cometido contra ti, y porque sus obras para contigo han sido muy buenas.

5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

5 Pues él puso su vida en su mano y mató al filisteo, y Jehová hizo una gran salvación a todo Israel. Tú lo viste y te regocijaste. ¿Por qué, pues, pecarás contra sangre inocente, matando a David sin causa?

6 And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

6 Y Saúl escuchó la voz de Jonatán, y Saúl juró: ¡Vive Jehová, que no morirá!

7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

7 Entonces Jonatán llamó a David y le declaró todas estas palabras; y él mismo llevó a David ante Saúl, y estuvo delante de él como antes.

8 And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.

8 Y volvió a haber guerra, y salió David y peleó contra los filisteos, y los hirió con gran mortandad, y huyeron delante de él.

9 And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

9 Y el espíritu malo de parte de Jehová vino sobre Saúl; y estando sentado en su casa, tenía una lanza en la mano, mientras David tocaba.

10 And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

10 Y Saúl procuró clavar a David con la lanza en la pared, pero él se apartó de delante de Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared; y David huyó y aquella noche escapó.

11 Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

11 Saúl envió luego mensajeros a casa de David para que lo vigilasen y lo matasen por la mañana. Pero Mical, su esposa, le avisó a David, diciendo: Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana estarás muerto.

12 So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

12 Y descolgó Mical a David por una ventana; y él se fue, y huyó y escapó.

13 And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.

13 Tomó luego Mical una estatua y la puso sobre la cama, y le acomodó por cabecera una almohada de pelo de cabra y la cubrió con ropa.

14 And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

14 Y cuando Saúl envió mensajeros para que prendiesen a David, ella respondió: Está enfermo.

15 And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

15 Y volvió Saúl a enviar mensajeros para que viesen a David, diciendo: Traédmelo en la cama para que lo mate.

16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

16 Y cuando los mensajeros entraron, he aquí la estatua estaba en la cama, y una almohada de pelo de cabra por cabecera.

17 And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

17 Entonces Saúl dijo a Mical: ¿Por qué me has engañado así y has dejado escapar a mi enemigo? Y Mical respondió a Saúl: Porque él me dijo: Déjame ir; si no, yo te mataré.

18 So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

18 Huyó, pues, David, y escapó, y fue a Samuel en Ramá y le dijo todo lo que Saúl había hecho con él. Y se fueron él y Samuel y moraron en Naiot.

19 And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.

19 Y le fue dado aviso a Saúl, diciendo: He aquí, que David está en Naiot, en Ramá.

20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

20 Y envió Saúl mensajeros para que trajesen a David, los cuales vieron un grupo de profetas que profetizaban, y a Samuel que estaba allí y los presidía. Y vino el espíritu de Dios sobre los mensajeros de Saúl, y ellos también profetizaron.

21 And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.

21 Y cuando le informaron a Saúl, él envió otros mensajeros, los cuales también profetizaron. Y Saúl volvió a enviar por tercera vez mensajeros, y ellos también profetizaron.

22 Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

22 Entonces él mismo fue a Ramá; y al llegar al pozo grande que está en Secú, preguntó, diciendo: ¿Dónde están Samuel y David? Y le respondieron: He aquí, están en Naiot, en Ramá.

23 And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

23 Y fue a Naiot, en Ramá; y también vino sobre él el espíritu de Dios, e iba profetizando hasta que llegó a Naiot, en Ramá.

24 And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

24 Y él también se quitó sus vestidos y profetizó igualmente delante de Samuel; y cayó desnudo todo aquel día y toda aquella noche. De aquí se dijo: ¿También Saúl entre los profetas?
