1 And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you.

1 Y dijo Samuel a todo Israel: He aquí, yo he escuchado vuestra voz en todas las cosas que me habéis dicho, y os he puesto un rey.

2 And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.

2 Ahora, pues, he aquí que vuestro rey va delante de vosotros. Yo soy ya viejo y estoy lleno de canas; y he aquí, mis hijos están con vosotros, y yo he andado delante de vosotros desde mi juventud hasta este día.

3 Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.

3 Aquí estoy; atestiguad contra mí delante de Jehová y delante de su ungido, si he tomado el buey de alguno, o si he tomado el asno de alguno, o si he calumniado a alguien, o si he agraviado a alguno o si de alguien he aceptado soborno por el cual haya cerrado mis ojos; y os lo restituiré.

4 And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man's hand.

4 Entonces dijeron: Nunca nos has calumniado ni agraviado, ni has tomado nada de mano de ningún hombre.

5 And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

5 Y él les dijo: Jehová es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido también es testigo en este día, de que no habéis hallado en mis manos cosa alguna. Y ellos respondieron: Él es testigo.

6 And Samuel said unto the people, It is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

6 Entonces Samuel dijo al pueblo: Jehová es quien designó a Moisés y a Aarón, y quien sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto.

7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.

7 Ahora, pues, aguardad, y yo expondré ante vosotros delante de Jehová todos los actos de justicia que Jehová ha hecho por vosotros y por vuestros padres.

8 When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your fathers cried unto the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your fathers out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

8 Cuando Jacob hubo entrado en Egipto y entonces vuestros padres clamaron a Jehová, Jehová envió a Moisés y a Aarón, quienes sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

9 And when they forgat the LORD their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

9 Pero olvidaron a Jehová su Dios, y él los vendió en manos de Sísara, capitán del ejército de Hazor, y en manos de los filisteos y en manos del rey de Moab, que les hicieron la guerra.

10 And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

10 Y ellos clamaron a Jehová y dijeron: Hemos pecado, porque hemos abandonado a Jehová y hemos servido a los baales y a Astarot; líbranos, pues, ahora de manos de nuestros enemigos, y te serviremos.

11 And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe.

11 Entonces Jehová envió a Jerobaal, y a Bedán, y a Jefté y a Samuel, y os libró de manos de vuestros enemigos de alrededor, y habitasteis seguros.

12 And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God was your king.

12 Y habiendo visto que Nahas, rey de los hijos de Amón, venía contra vosotros, me dijisteis: No, sino que ha de reinar un rey sobre nosotros, cuando vuestro rey era Jehová vuestro Dios.

13 Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.

13 Ahora, pues, he aquí el rey que habéis elegido, el cual pedisteis; ya veis que Jehová ha puesto rey sobre vosotros.

14 If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:

14 Si teméis a Jehová, y le servís, y escucháis su voz y no sois rebeldes a la palabra de Jehová, entonces, tanto vosotros como el rey que reina sobre vosotros, continuaréis yendo en pos de Jehová vuestro Dios.

15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.

15 Mas si no escucháis la voz de Jehová y si sois rebeldes a las palabras de Jehová, la mano de Jehová estará contra vosotros como estuvo contra vuestros padres.

16 Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.

16 Esperad aún ahora y mirad esta gran cosa que Jehová hará delante de vuestros ojos.

17 Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.

17 ¿No es ahora la siega del trigo? Yo clamaré a Jehová, y él dará truenos y lluvia, para que conozcáis y veáis que es grande vuestra maldad que habéis hecho ante los ojos de Jehová al haber pedido un rey para vosotros.

18 So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

18 Y Samuel clamó a Jehová, y Jehová dio truenos y lluvia en aquel día; y todo el pueblo temió en gran manera a Jehová y a Samuel.

19 And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.

19 Entonces dijo todo el pueblo a Samuel: Ruega por tus siervos a Jehová tu Dios para que no muramos, porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido este mal de pedir un rey para nosotros.

20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

20 Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: No temáis; vosotros habéis cometido todo este mal, pero con todo eso, no os apartéis de ir en pos de Jehová, sino servid a Jehová con todo vuestro corazón.

21 And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.

21 No os apartéis yendo en pos de las vanidades que no aprovechan ni libran, porque son vanidades.

22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

22 Pues Jehová no desamparará a su pueblo por su gran nombre, porque Jehová ha querido haceros pueblo suyo.

23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:

23 Así que, en cuanto a mí, lejos esté de mí que peque yo contra Jehová cesando de rogar por vosotros; antes bien, yo os enseñaré el camino bueno y recto.

24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

24 Solamente temed a Jehová y servidle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón, pues considerad cuán grandes cosas ha hecho por vosotros.

25 But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.

25 Mas si perseveráis en hacer el mal, vosotros y vuestro rey pereceréis.
