1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

1 E Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió sus siervos a Salomón cuando oyó que lo habían ungido rey en lugar de su padre, porque Hiram siempre había amado a David.

2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

2 Entonces Salomón envió a decir a Hiram:

3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

3 Tú sabes que mi padre David no pudo edificar una casa al nombre de Jehová su Dios, a causa de las guerras en que se vio envuelto, hasta que Jehová puso a sus enemigos bajo las plantas de sus pies.

4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

4 Y ahora Jehová mi Dios me ha dado paz por todas partes, pues no hay adversarios ni mal que temer.

5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

5 Y he aquí que he determinado edificar una casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, como Jehová habló a mi padre David, diciendo: Tu hijo, a quien yo pondré en tu trono en tu lugar, él edificará la casa a mi nombre.

6 Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

6 Manda, pues, ahora, que me corten cedros del Líbano; y mis siervos estarán con los tuyos, y yo te daré por tus siervos el salario que tú digas, porque tú sabes bien que no hay ninguno entre nosotros que sepa labrar la madera como los sidonios.

7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.

7 Y aconteció que cuando Hiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, se alegró en gran manera y dijo: Bendito sea hoy Jehová, que ha dado un hijo sabio a David sobre este pueblo tan grande.

8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

8 Y envió Hiram a decir a Salomón: He oído lo que me mandaste decir; yo haré todo lo que tú desees acerca de la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés.

9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

9 Mis siervos las bajarán desde el Líbano hasta el mar; y yo haré de ellas balsas para ir por mar hasta el lugar que tú me señales; y allí haré que las desaten, y tú te las llevarás y cumplirás mi deseo al dar de comer a mi casa.

10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

10 Dio, pues, Hiram a Salomón toda la madera de cedro y de ciprés que quiso.

11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

11 Y Salomón daba a Hiram veinte mil coros de trigo para el sustento de su familia, y veinte coros de aceite puro; esto daba Salomón a Hiram cada año.

12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

12 Y Jehová dio a Salomón sabiduría como le había prometido; y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón, e hicieron un pacto entre ambos.

13 And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

13 Y el rey Salomón impuso una leva a todo Israel, y la leva fue de treinta mil hombres,

14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.

14 y los enviaba al Líbano en relevos de diez mil cada mes, por turno; y así se quedaban un mes en el Líbano y dos meses en sus casas. Y Adoniram estaba encargado de la leva.

15 And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;

15 Tenía también Salomón setenta mil que llevaban las cargas, y ochenta mil canteros en el monte,

16 Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

16 sin contar los principales oficiales de Salomón que estaban sobre la obra, tres mil trescientos, los cuales tenían a su cargo la gente que hacía la obra.

17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

17 Y mandó el rey que trajesen piedras grandes, piedras costosas y piedras labradas para los cimientos de la casa.

18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

18 Y los obreros de Salomón, y los de Hiram y los giblitas cortaron y prepararon la madera y las piedras para edificar la casa.
