1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

1 Y Salomón hizo parentesco con Faraón, rey de Egipto, porque tomó a la hija de Faraón y la trajo a la ciudad de David, mientras acababa de edificar su casa, y la casa de Jehová y los muros alrededor de Jerusalén.

2 Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

2 Hasta entonces el pueblo sacrificaba en los lugares altos, porque en aquellos días no había aún casa edificada al nombre de Jehová.

3 And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

3 Y Salomón amó a Jehová y anduvo en los estatutos de su padre David; solamente sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

4 E iba el rey a Gabaón, porque aquel era el lugar alto principal, y sacrificaba allí. Salomón ofrecía mil holocaustos sobre aquel altar.

5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

5 Jehová se le apareció a Salomón en Gabaón una noche en sueños y le dijo Dios: Pide lo que quieras que yo te dé.

6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

6 Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia a tu siervo David, mi padre, porque él anduvo delante de ti en verdad, y en justicia y en rectitud de corazón para contigo; y tú le has guardado esta tu gran misericordia al darle un hijo que se sentase en su trono, como sucede en este día.

7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

7 Ahora pues, oh Jehová, Dios mío, tú has hecho a tu siervo rey en lugar de David, mi padre; y yo soy muy joven, y no sé cómo entrar ni salir.

8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

8 Y tu siervo está en medio de tu pueblo al que tú escogiste; un pueblo grande que no se puede contar ni numerar por su multitud.

9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

9 Da, pues, a tu siervo corazón con entendimiento para juzgar a tu pueblo, para discernir entre lo bueno y lo malo, porque, ¿quién podrá gobernar a este pueblo tuyo tan grande?

10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

10 Y le agradó al Señor que Salomón pidiese esto.

11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

11 Y le dijo Dios: Porque has pedido esto, y no has pedido para ti muchos días, ni has pedido para ti riquezas ni has pedido la vida de tus enemigos, sino que has pedido para ti entendimiento para discernir juicio,

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

12 he aquí, he hecho conforme a tus palabras. He aquí que te he dado un corazón sabio y entendido, tanto que no ha habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levantará otro como tú.

13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

13 Y también te he dado las cosas que no pediste, tanto riquezas como gloria, de tal manera que entre los reyes no habrá ninguno como tú en todos tus días.

14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

14 Y si andas en mis caminos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como anduvo tu padre David, yo alargaré tus días.

15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

15 Y cuando Salomón despertó, vio que había sido un sueño. Y fue a Jerusalén y se presentó delante del arca del convenio de Jehová; y ofreció holocaustos e hizo ofrendas de paz, y también hizo banquete a todos sus siervos.

16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

16 En aquel tiempo vinieron al rey dos mujeres rameras, y se presentaron delante de él.

17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

17 Y dijo una de ellas: ¡Ah, señor mío! Yo y esta mujer vivimos en la misma casa, y yo di a luz estando con ella en la casa.

18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

18 Y aconteció al tercer día después que yo di a luz, que esta dio a luz también, y estábamos juntas; ningún extraño estaba en casa, sino nosotras dos en la casa.

19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

19 Y una noche el hijo de esta mujer murió, porque ella se acostó sobre él.

20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

20 Y se levantó a medianoche, y tomó a mi hijo de junto a mí, mientras tu sierva estaba durmiendo, y lo puso a su lado, y puso a mi lado a su hijo muerto.

21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

21 Y cuando yo me levanté de madrugada para dar el pecho a mi hijo, he aquí que estaba muerto; pero lo observé por la mañana y vi que no era mi hijo, el que yo había dado a luz.

22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

22 Entonces la otra mujer dijo: No, mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra volvió a decir: No, tu hijo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive. Así hablaban delante del rey.

23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

23 El rey entonces dijo: Esta dice: Mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto; y la otra dice: No, el tuyo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive.

24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

24 Y dijo el rey: Traedme una espada. Y trajeron al rey una espada.

25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

25 Enseguida el rey dijo: Partid en dos al niño vivo, y dad la mitad a la una, y la otra mitad a la otra.

26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

26 Entonces la mujer de quien era el hijo vivo habló al rey (porque sus entrañas se conmovieron por su hijo), y dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! Dad a esta el niño vivo, y no lo matéis. Pero la otra dijo: Ni a mí ni a ti; partidlo.

27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

27 Entonces el rey respondió y dijo: Dad a aquella el hijo vivo, y no lo matéis; ella es su madre.

28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

28 Y todo Israel oyó aquel juicio que había dado el rey; y temieron al rey, porque vieron que había en él sabiduría de Dios para juzgar.
