1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

1 Pero el rey Salomón amó, además de la hija de Faraón, a muchas mujeres extranjeras, a las de Moab, a las de Amón, a las de Edom, a las de Sidón y a las heteas;

2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

2 gentes de las cuales Jehová había dicho a los hijos de Israel: No os llegaréis a ellas, ni ellas se llegarán a vosotros, porque ciertamente harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A estas, pues, se juntó Salomón con amor.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

3 Y tuvo setecientas esposas que eran princesas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres le desviaron el corazón.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

4 Y aconteció que Salomón ya era viejo, y sus mujeres le inclinaron el corazón tras dioses ajenos, y su corazón ya no era perfecto para con Jehová su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

5 Porque Salomón siguió a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Milcom, dios abominable de los amonitas.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

6 E hizo Salomón lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y no siguió cumplidamente tras Jehová como David, su padre.

7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

7 Entonces edificó Salomón un lugar alto a Quemos, dios abominable de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalén, y a Moloc, ídolo abominable de los hijos de Amón.

8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

8 E hizo lo mismo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban incienso y ofrecían sacrificios a sus dioses.

9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

9 Y se enojó Jehová contra Salomón, por cuanto se había desviado su corazón de Jehová Dios de Israel, quien se le había aparecido dos veces,

10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

10 y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese a dioses ajenos; pero él no guardó lo que le había mandado Jehová.

11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

11 Y dijo Jehová a Salomón: Por cuanto has hecho esto, y no has guardado mi convenio y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, arrancaré el reino de ti y lo entregaré a tu siervo.

12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

12 Sin embargo, no lo haré en tus días, por amor a David, tu padre, sino que lo arrancaré de la mano de tu hijo.

13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

13 Pero no arrancaré todo el reino, sino que le daré una tribu a tu hijo, por amor a David, mi siervo, y por amor a Jerusalén, la que yo he elegido.

14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

14 Y Jehová levantó un adversario a Salomón: Hadad, el edomita, de sangre real, que estaba en Edom.

15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

15 Sucedió que cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab, el general del ejército, a enterrar los muertos, y mató a todos los hombres de Edom

16 (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

16 (porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado con todos los varones de Edom),

17 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

17 Hadad huyó, y con él algunos hombres edomitas de los siervos de su padre, y se fue a Egipto; era entonces Hadad un muchacho pequeño.

18 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

18 Y se levantaron de Madián y llegaron a Parán; y tomaron consigo hombres de Parán, y llegaron a Egipto, a Faraón, rey de Egipto, quien le dio casa, y le asignó alimentos y aun le dio tierra.

19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

19 Y halló Hadad gran favor delante de Faraón, el cual le dio por esposa a la hermana de su esposa, la hermana de la reina Tahpenes.

20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

20 Y la hermana de Tahpenes le dio a luz a su hijo Genubat, a quien Tahpenes destetó en casa de Faraón; y estaba Genubat en casa de Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.

21 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

21 Y al oír Hadad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que Joab, general del ejército, había muerto, Hadad dijo a Faraón: Déjame ir a mi tierra.

22 Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

22 Y le respondió Faraón: ¿Qué te falta conmigo que procuras irte a tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, te ruego que me dejes ir.

23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

23 Y Dios también le levantó otro adversario, Rezón hijo de Eliada, el cual había huido de su amo Hadar-ezer, rey de Soba.

24 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

24 Y había reunido consigo hombres y se había hecho capitán de una tropa cuando David mató a los de Soba. Después fueron a Damasco, y habitaron allí y reinaron en Damasco.

25 And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

25 Y él fue adversario de Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fue otro mal junto con el de Hadad, porque aborreció a Israel y reinó sobre Siria.

26 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

26 También Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, efrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón, cuya madre se llamaba Zerúa, la cual era viuda, alzó su mano contra el rey.

27 And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

27 Y la causa por la cual este alzó su mano contra el rey fue esta: Salomón edificó Milo y cerró la brecha de la ciudad de David, su padre.

28 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

28 Y Jeroboam era un hombre valiente y poderoso, y al ver Salomón que el joven era un hombre laborioso, le encomendó toda la carga de la casa de José.

29 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

29 Y aconteció en aquel tiempo que, al salir Jeroboam de Jerusalén, le encontró en el camino el profeta Ahías, el silonita, y este iba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo.

30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

30 Y tomó Ahías la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, y la rasgó en doce pedazos,

31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

31 y dijo a Jeroboam: Toma para ti diez pedazos, porque así dice Jehová Dios de Israel: He aquí que arrancaré el reino de manos de Salomón, y a ti te daré diez tribus

32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

32 (y él tendrá una tribu por amor a David, mi siervo, y por amor a Jerusalén, ciudad que yo he elegido de entre todas las tribus de Israel);

33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

33 por cuanto me han abandonado y han adorado a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Quemos, dios de Moab, y a Moloc, dios de los hijos de Amón; y no han andado en mis caminos para hacer lo recto delante de mis ojos, ni en mis estatutos, ni en mis decretos, como hizo su padre David.

34 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

34 Pero no quitaré todo el reino de sus manos, sino que lo haré gobernante todos los días de su vida, por amor a David, mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y quien guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos;

35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

35 pero yo quitaré el reino de manos de su hijo y te lo daré a ti, esto es, las diez tribus.

36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

36 Y a su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga una lámpara todos los días delante de mí en Jerusalén, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner allí mi nombre.

37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.

37 Yo, pues, te tomaré a ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que desee tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel.

38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

38 Y sucederá que si escuchas todas las cosas que te mande, y andas en mis caminos, y haces lo recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo mi siervo David, yo estaré contigo y te edificaré una casa firme, como la edifiqué a David, y te entregaré a Israel.

39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

39 Y yo afligiré a la descendencia de David a causa de esto, pero no para siempre.

40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

40 Procuró, por tanto, Salomón matar a Jeroboam, pero Jeroboam se levantó y huyó a Egipto, a Sisac, rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.

41 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

41 Los demás hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritos en el libro de los hechos de Salomón?

42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

42 Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel fueron cuarenta años.

43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

43 Y durmió Salomón con sus padres y fue sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David; y reinó en su lugar Roboam, su hijo.
