1 Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

1 Y aconteció que cuando David ya moraba en su casa, dijo David al profeta Natán: He aquí, yo habito en casa de cedro mientras el arca del convenio de Jehová está bajo cortinas.

2 Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

2 Y Natán dijo a David: Haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, porque Dios está contigo.

3 And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

3 Y sucedió que aquella misma noche vino la palabra de Dios a Natán, diciendo:

4 Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

4 Ve y di a David mi siervo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Tú no me edificarás casa en que yo habite.

5 For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

5 Porque no he habitado en casa alguna desde el día en que saqué a los hijos de Israel hasta hoy, sino que he ido de tienda en tienda y de tabernáculo en tabernáculo.

6 Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?

6 Por dondequiera que anduve con todo Israel, ¿acaso hablé una palabra a alguno de los jueces de Israel, a los cuales mandé que apacentasen a mi pueblo, para decirles: ¿Por qué no me edificáis una casa de cedro?

7 Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

7 Por tanto, ahora dirás a mi siervo David: Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: Yo te tomé del redil, de detrás de las ovejas, para que fueses príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel;

8 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

8 y he estado contigo en todo cuanto has andado, y he talado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti y te he hecho un gran nombre, como el nombre de los grandes de la tierra.

9 Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

9 Asimismo dispondré un lugar para mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré para que habite en él y no sea más removido; ni los hijos de iniquidad lo afligirán más, como antes,

10 And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.

10 como en el tiempo que puse jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; y humillaré a todos tus enemigos. Te hago saber, además, que Jehová te edificará casa.

11 And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

11 Y acontecerá que, cuando se cumplan tus días para que vayas a estar con tus padres, levantaré a uno de tu descendencia después de ti, a uno de tus hijos, y estableceré su reino.

12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.

12 Él me edificará casa, y yo estableceré su trono para siempre.

13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

13 Yo seré para él un padre, y él será para mí un hijo; y no quitaré de él mi misericordia, como la quité de aquel que fue antes de ti;

14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

14 sino que yo lo estableceré en mi casa y en mi reino eternamente, y su trono será establecido para siempre.

15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

15 Conforme a todas estas palabras y conforme a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

16 And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

16 Y entró el rey David y estuvo delante de Jehová, y dijo: Jehová Dios, ¿quién soy yo, y qué es mi casa, para que me hayas traído hasta este lugar?

17 And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

17 Y aun esto, oh Dios, te ha parecido poco, pues has hablado del porvenir de la casa de tu siervo, y me has mirado como a un hombre excelente, oh Jehová Dios.

18 What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

18 ¿Qué más puede añadir David a ti por haber glorificado a tu siervo? Pues tú conoces a tu siervo.

19 O LORD, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

19 Oh Jehová, por amor de tu siervo y según tu corazón, has hecho toda esta grandeza, para hacer notorias todas estas grandezas.

20 O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

20 Jehová, no hay nadie semejante a ti, ni hay Dios sino tú, según todas las cosas que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

21 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

21 ¿Y qué pueblo hay en la tierra como tu pueblo Israel, al cual Dios fue a redimir como pueblo para sí, a fin de hacerte un nombre grande y portentoso, echando las naciones de delante de tu pueblo, al que tú rescataste de Egipto?

22 For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.

22 Tú has establecido a tu pueblo Israel como pueblo tuyo para siempre; y tú, Jehová, has venido a ser su Dios.

23 Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

23 Ahora pues, Jehová, la palabra que has hablado acerca de tu siervo y de su casa sea establecida para siempre, y haz como has dicho.

24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

24 Permanezca, pues, y sea engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, a fin de que se diga: Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, es Dios para Israel. Y sea la casa de tu siervo David establecida delante de ti.

25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

25 Porque tú, Dios mío, revelaste al oído de tu siervo que le has de edificar casa; por eso ha hallado tu siervo motivo para orar delante de ti.

26 And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

26 Ahora pues, Jehová, tú eres el Dios que has prometido a tu siervo este bien;

27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.

27 y ahora has querido bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que permanezca perpetuamente delante de ti; porque tú, Jehová, la has bendecido, y será bendita para siempre.
