1 Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

1 Entonces todo Israel se congregó en torno a David en Hebrón, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tu hueso y tu carne.

2 And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.

2 Y además, en tiempos pasados, aun mientras Saúl reinaba, tú eras quien sacaba a Israel y lo volvías a traer. Y Jehová tu Dios te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel, mi pueblo.

3 Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

3 Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ungieron a David como rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra de Jehová por medio de Samuel.

4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

4 Entonces se fue David con todo Israel a Jerusalén, la cual es Jebús; y los jebuseos habitaban en aquella tierra.

5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.

5 Y los moradores de Jebús dijeron a David: No entrarás acá. Pero David tomó la fortaleza de Sion, que es la ciudad de David.

6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.

6 Y David había dicho: El que primero derrote a los jebuseos será jefe y capitán. Entonces Joab hijo de Sarvia subió primero y fue hecho jefe.

7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.

7 Y David habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto la llamaron la ciudad de David.

8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

8 Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde Milo hasta los alrededores; y Joab reparó el resto de la ciudad.

9 So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.

9 Y David se engrandecía cada vez más, y Jehová de los ejércitos estaba con él.

10 These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

10 Y estos son los jefes de los valientes que David tuvo, los que se fortalecieron junto con él en su reino, con todo Israel, para hacerle rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra de Jehová referente a Israel.

11 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.

11 Y este es el número de los valientes que David tuvo: Jasobeam hijo de Hacmoni, jefe de los treinta, el cual blandió su lanza contra trescientos, a los cuales mató en una sola batalla.

12 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.

12 Y después de este estaba Eleazar hijo de Dodo, el ahohíta, el cual era de los tres valientes.

13 He was with David at Pas-dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

13 Este estuvo con David en Pasdamim, donde se habían reunido los filisteos para la batalla; y había allí una parcela de tierra llena de cebada; y cuando el pueblo huyó delante de los filisteos,

14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.

14 se pusieron ellos en medio de la parcela, y la defendieron y vencieron a los filisteos; y los salvó Jehová con una gran victoria.

15 Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

15 Y tres de los treinta jefes descendieron a la peña donde estaba David, hasta la cueva de Adulam; y el campamento de los filisteos estaba en el valle de Refaim.

16 And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines' garrison was then at Beth-lehem.

16 Y David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba entonces en Belén.

17 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, that is at the gate!

17 David deseó entonces y dijo: ¡Quién me diera de beber del agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD,

18 Y aquellos tres irrumpieron en el campamento de los filisteos y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que estaba a la puerta, y se la llevaron y la trajeron a David; pero él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó ante Jehová, y dijo:

19 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

19 Guárdeme mi Dios de hacer esto. ¿He yo de beber la sangre y la vida de estos hombres que con peligro de sus vidas la han traído? Y no la quiso beber. Esto hicieron aquellos tres valientes.

20 And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.

20 Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era jefe de los tres, el cual blandió su lanza contra trescientos, a los cuales mató; y ganó renombre entre los tres.

21 Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.

21 De los tres fue más ilustre que los otros dos y fue el jefe de ellos; pero no igualó a los tres primeros.

22 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.

22 Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de un hombre valiente, de grandes hechos, de Cabseel; él venció a los dos leones de Moab; también descendió y mató un león en medio de un foso un día de nieve.

23 And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

23 Él mismo mató a un egipcio, hombre de cinco codos de estatura; y el egipcio traía una lanza como un rodillo de tejedor; pero él descendió contra él con un palo, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano y lo mató con su misma lanza.

24 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.

24 Esto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada y ganó renombre entre los tres valientes.

25 Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

25 He aquí que fue el más distinguido de los treinta, pero no igualó a los tres primeros. Y a este puso David sobre su guardia personal.

26 Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

26 Y los valientes de los ejércitos: Asael, hermano de Joab; y Elhanán hijo de Dodo, de Belén;

27 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

27 Samot, el harodita; Heles, el pelonita;

28 Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-ezer the Antothite,

28 Ira hijo de Iques, el tecoíta; Abiezer, el anatotita;

29 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

30 Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,

31 Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
