1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

1 Verdad digo en Cristo, no miento, y mi conciencia me da testimonio en el Espíritu Santo,

2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

2 que tengo gran tristeza y continuo dolor en mi corazón.

3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

3 Porque deseara yo mismo ser anatema, apartado de Cristo, por el bien de mis hermanos, los que son mis parientes según la carne;

4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

4 que son israelitas, de los cuales son la adopción, y la gloria, y los convenios, y la promulgación de la ley, y el culto y las promesas;

5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

5 de quienes son los padres, y de quienes, según la carne, procede Cristo, el que es Dios sobre todas las cosas, bendito por los siglos. Amén.

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

6 Pero no es que la palabra de Dios haya fallado, porque no todos los que son de Israel son israelitas,

7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

7 ni por ser descendientes de Abraham son todos hijos, sino: En Isaac te será llamada descendencia.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

8 Es decir: No los que son hijos según la carne son los hijos de Dios, sino que los que son hijos según la promesa son contados en la descendencia.

9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.

9 Porque la palabra de la promesa es esta: Por este tiempo vendré, y Sara tendrá un hijo.

10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

10 Y no solo esto; sino que también Rebeca concibió de uno, de Isaac nuestro padre

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

11 (pues no habían aún nacido, ni habían hecho aún ni bien ni mal, para que el propósito de Dios conforme a la elección permaneciese, no por las obras sino por el que llama),

12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

12 se le dijo que el mayor serviría al menor.

13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

13 Como está escrito: A Jacob amé, mas a Esaú aborrecí.

14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

14 ¿Qué, pues, diremos? ¿Que hay injusticia en Dios? ¡De ninguna manera!

15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

15 Pues a Moisés dice: Tendré misericordia del que yo tenga misericordia, y me compadeceré del que yo me compadezca.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

16 Así que no depende del que quiere, ni del que corre, sino de Dios que tiene misericordia.

17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

17 Porque la Escritura dice a Faraón: Para esto mismo te he levantado, para mostrar en ti mi poder, y para que mi nombre sea proclamado por toda la tierra.

18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

18 De manera que del que quiere, tiene misericordia, y al que quiere endurecer, endurece.

19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

19 Me dirás entonces: ¿Por qué, pues, inculpa? Porque, ¿quién ha resistido a su voluntad?

20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

20 Antes bien, oh hombre, ¿quién eres tú, para que alterques con Dios? ¿Dirá el vaso de barro al que lo labró: Por qué me has hecho así?

21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

21 ¿O no tiene potestad el alfarero para hacer de la misma masa un vaso para honra, y otro para deshonra?

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

22 ¿Y qué, si Dios, queriendo mostrar la ira y hacer notorio su poder, soportó con mucha paciencia los vasos de ira preparados para destrucción,

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

23 y para hacer notorias las riquezas de su gloria, las mostró para con los vasos de misericordia que él preparó de antemano para gloria;

24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

24 a los cuales también ha llamado, a saber, a nosotros, no solo de los judíos, sino también de los gentiles?

25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

25 Como también en Oseas dice: Llamaré pueblo mío al que no era mi pueblo; y a la no amada, amada.

26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

26 Y acontecerá que en el lugar donde se les dijo: Vosotros no sois pueblo mío, allí serán llamados hijos del Dios viviente.

27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

27 También Isaías proclama tocante a Israel: Si fuere el número de los hijos de Israel como la arena del mar, tan solo el remanente será salvo;

28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

28 porque terminará la obra y la acortará en justicia, porque obra abreviada hará el Señor sobre la tierra.

29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

29 Y como antes dijo Isaías: Si el Señor de los ejércitos no nos hubiera dejado descendencia, como Sodoma habríamos llegado a ser, y a Gomorra seríamos semejantes.

30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

30 ¿Qué, pues, diremos? Que los gentiles que no iban tras la justicia han alcanzado la justicia, es decir, la justicia que es por la fe;

31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

31 en cambio Israel, que buscaba la ley de justicia, no ha alcanzado esa ley de justicia.

32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

32 ¿Por qué no? Porque no la buscaban por la fe, sino por las obras de la ley, por lo cual tropezaron en la piedra de tropiezo,

33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

33 como está escrito: He aquí pongo en Sion piedra de tropiezo y roca de caída; y aquel que creyere en él, no será avergonzado.
