1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

1 ¿Qué, pues, diremos? ¿Continuaremos en el pecado para que abunde la gracia?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

2 ¡De ninguna manera! Porque los que hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo viviremos aún en él?

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

3 ¿O no sabéis que todos los que hemos sido bautizados en Cristo Jesús, hemos sido bautizados en su muerte?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

4 Porque somos sepultados juntamente con él para muerte por medio del bautismo, a fin de que como Cristo resucitó de los muertos por la gloria del Padre, así también nosotros andemos en vida nueva.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

5 Porque si fuimos plantados juntamente con él en la semejanza de su muerte, así también lo seremos en la de su resurrección;

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

6 sabiendo esto, que nuestro viejo hombre fue crucificado juntamente con él, para que el cuerpo del pecado sea deshecho, a fin de que no sirvamos más al pecado.

7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

7 Porque el que está muerto, libre está del pecado.

8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

8 Y si morimos con Cristo, creemos que también viviremos con él,

9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

9 sabiendo que Cristo, habiendo resucitado de entre los muertos, ya no muere; la muerte no se enseñorea más de él.

10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

10 Porque al haber muerto, murió al pecado de una vez y para siempre; mas al vivir, para Dios vive.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

11 Así también vosotros, considerad que de cierto estáis muertos al pecado, pero vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

12 No reine, pues, el pecado en vuestro cuerpo mortal, no sea que le obedezcáis en sus concupiscencias;

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

13 ni tampoco presentéis vuestros miembros al pecado como instrumentos de iniquidad; antes bien, presentaos a Dios como vivos de entre los muertos, y vuestros miembros a Dios como instrumentos de justicia.

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

14 Porque el pecado no se enseñoreará de vosotros, pues no estáis bajo la ley, sino bajo la gracia.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

15 Entonces, ¿qué? ¿Pecaremos, porque no estamos bajo la ley, sino bajo la gracia? ¡De ninguna manera!

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

16 ¿No sabéis que a quien os entregáis vosotros mismos por siervos para obedecer le, sois siervos de aquel a quien obedecéis, ya sea del pecado para muerte, o de la obediencia para justicia?

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

17 Pero gracias a Dios, que aunque erais siervos del pecado, habéis obedecido de corazón a aquella forma de doctrina a la cual fuisteis entregados;

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

18 y libertados del pecado, vinisteis a ser siervos de la justicia.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

19 Hablo como humano, por la debilidad de vuestra carne; porque así como para maldad ofrecisteis vuestros miembros para servir a la inmundicia y a la iniquidad, así ahora, para santificación, ofreced vuestros miembros para servir a la justicia.

20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

20 Porque cuando erais siervos del pecado, erais libres en cuanto a la justicia.

21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

21 ¿Qué fruto, pues, teníais de aquellas cosas de las cuales ahora os avergonzáis? Porque el fin de ellas es muerte.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

22 Mas ahora que habéis sido librados del pecado y hechos siervos de Dios, tenéis por vuestro fruto la santificación, y como fin, la vida eterna.

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

23 Porque la paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.
