1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

1 Digo pues: ¿Ha desechado Dios a su pueblo? ¡De ninguna manera! Porque también yo soy israelita, descendiente de Abraham, de la tribu de Benjamín.

2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

2 No ha desechado Dios a su pueblo, al cual desde antes conoció. ¿O no sabéis lo que dice la Escritura en cuanto a Elías, de cómo habló con Dios contra Israel, diciendo:

3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

3 Señor, a tus profetas han matado, y tus altares han derribado; y yo he quedado solo, y procuran matarme?

4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

4 Pero, ¿qué le dice la respuesta divina? Me he reservado para mí siete mil hombres que no han doblado la rodilla delante de Baal.

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

5 Así también, aun en este tiempo ha quedado un remanente según la elección por gracia.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

6 Y si por gracia, ya no por obras; de otra manera la gracia ya no es gracia. Y si por obras, ya no sería gracia; de otra manera la obra ya no sería obra.

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

7 ¿Qué, pues? Lo que buscaba Israel, no lo ha alcanzado; pero la elección lo ha alcanzado; y los demás fueron endurecidos;

8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

8 como está escrito: Les dio Dios espíritu de sopor, ojos con los que no ven, y oídos con los que no oyen, hasta el día de hoy.

9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

9 Y David dice: Séales vuelta su mesa en trampa y en red, y en piedra de tropiezo, y en retribución para ellos.

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

10 Sus ojos sean oscurecidos para que no vean, y agóbiales la espalda para siempre.

11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

11 Digo pues: ¿Han tropezado para que cayesen? ¡De ninguna manera! Más bien, por la transgresión de ellos vino la salvación a los gentiles, para que aquellos fuesen provocados a celos.

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

12 Y si la transgresión de ellos es la riqueza del mundo, y el fracaso de ellos la riqueza de los gentiles, ¿cuánto más lo será la plenitud de ellos?

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

13 Porque a vosotros hablo, gentiles. Por cuanto yo soy apóstol de los gentiles, honro mi ministerio,

14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

14 por si de alguna manera provoco a celos a los de mi carne, y salvo a algunos de ellos.

15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

15 Porque si el rechazo a ellos es la reconciliación del mundo, ¿qué será la admisión de ellos, sino vida de entre los muertos?

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

16 Y si las primicias son santas, también lo es la masa restante, y si la raíz es santa, también lo son las ramas.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

17 Pero si algunas de las ramas fueron desgajadas, y tú, siendo olivo silvestre, has sido injertado en lugar de ellas y has sido hecho participante de la raíz y de la rica savia del olivo,

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

18 no te jactes contra las ramas; y si te jactas, recuerda que no sustentas tú a la raíz, sino la raíz a ti.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

19 Pues las ramas, dirás, fueron desgajadas para que yo fuese injertado.

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

20 Bien, por su incredulidad fueron desgajadas, pero tú por la fe estás en pie. No te ensoberbezcas, sino teme;

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

21 porque si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, a ti tampoco te perdonará.

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

22 Mira, pues, la bondad y la severidad de Dios: la severidad ciertamente para con los que cayeron, pero la bondad para contigo, si permaneces en esa bondad; pues de otra manera tú también serás talado.

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

23 Y aun ellos, si no permanecen en la incredulidad, serán injertados, porque poderoso es Dios para volverlos a injertar.

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

24 Porque si tú fuiste cortado del que por naturaleza es olivo silvestre, y contra naturaleza fuiste injertado en el buen olivo, ¿cuánto más estos, que son las ramas naturales, serán injertados en su propio olivo?

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

25 Porque no quiero, hermanos, que ignoréis este misterio, para que no seáis arrogantes acerca de vosotros mismos: que el endurecimiento ha acontecido a Israel, en parte, hasta que haya entrado la plenitud de los gentiles;

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

26 y así, todo Israel será salvo; como está escrito: Vendrá de Sion el Libertador, que quitará de Jacob la impiedad;

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

27 y este será mi convenio con ellos, cuando yo quite sus pecados.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

28 Así que, en cuanto al evangelio, son enemigos por causa de vosotros; pero en cuanto a la elección son muy amados por causa de los padres,

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

29 porque los dones y el llamamiento de Dios son irrevocables.

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

30 Porque como también vosotros en otro tiempo desobedecisteis a Dios, pero ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia por la desobediencia de ellos,

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

31 así también estos ahora han desobedecido, para que, por la misericordia mostrada a vosotros, también a ellos ahora les sea mostrada misericordia.

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

32 Porque Dios ha sujetado a todos en desobediencia, para tener misericordia de todos.

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

33 ¡Oh la profundidad de las riquezas, de la sabiduría y del conocimiento de Dios! ¡Cuán incomprensibles son sus juicios e inescrutables sus caminos!

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

34 Porque, ¿quién entendió la mente del Señor? ¿O quién fue su consejero?

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

35 ¿O quién le dio a él primero, para que le fuese recompensado?

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

36 Porque de él, y por él, y para él son todas las cosas. A él sea la gloria por los siglos. Amén.
