1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

1 Y aconteció que, cuando Jesús hubo acabado todas estas palabras, dijo a sus discípulos:

2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

2 Sabéis que dentro de dos días se celebra la Pascua, y el Hijo del Hombre será entregado para ser crucificado.

3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

3 Entonces los principales sacerdotes, y los escribas y los ancianos del pueblo se reunieron en el patio del sumo sacerdote, que se llamaba Caifás;

4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

4 y se confabularon para prender con engaño a Jesús, y matarle.

5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

5 Pero decían: No durante la fiesta, para que no se haga alboroto en el pueblo.

6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

6 Y estando Jesús en Betania, en casa de Simón el leproso,

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

7 vino a él una mujer con un vaso de alabastro de perfume de gran precio, y lo derramó sobre la cabeza de él, estando sentado a la mesa.

8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

8 Al ver esto, sus discípulos se enojaron y dijeron: ¿Para qué este desperdicio?

9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

9 Porque este perfume hubiera podido venderse por gran precio y haberse dado a los pobres.

10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

10 Y entendiéndolo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué molestáis a esta mujer? Pues ha hecho conmigo una buena obra.

11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

11 Porque siempre tendréis pobres con vosotros, pero a mí no siempre me tendréis.

12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

12 Porque al derramar este perfume sobre mi cuerpo, lo ha hecho a fin de prepararme para la sepultura.

13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

13 De cierto os digo que dondequiera que se predique este evangelio, en todo el mundo, también se contará lo que esta ha hecho, para memoria de ella.

14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

14 Entonces uno de los doce, que se llamaba Judas Iscariote, fue a los principales sacerdotes

15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

15 y les dijo: ¿Qué me queréis dar, y yo os lo entregaré? Y ellos le pesaron treinta piezas de plata.

16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

16 Y desde entonces buscaba oportunidad para entregarle.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

17 Y el primer día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, vinieron los discípulos a Jesús, diciéndole: ¿Dónde quieres que te hagamos los preparativos para comer la Pascua?

18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

18 Y él dijo: Id a la ciudad, a cierto hombre, y decidle: El Maestro dice: Mi tiempo está cerca; en tu casa celebraré la Pascua con mis discípulos.

19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

19 Y los discípulos hicieron como Jesús les mandó y prepararon la Pascua.

20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

20 Y al anochecer, se sentó a la mesa con los doce.

21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

21 Y mientras comían, dijo: De cierto os digo que uno de vosotros me va a entregar.

22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

22 Y entristecidos en gran manera, comenzó cada uno de ellos a decirle: ¿Soy yo, Señor?

23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

23 Entonces él, respondiendo, dijo: El que mete la mano conmigo en el plato, ese me va a entregar.

24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

24 A la verdad el Hijo del Hombre va, como está escrito de él, mas, ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del Hombre es entregado! Bueno le fuera a ese hombre no haber nacido.

25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

25 Entonces, respondiendo Judas, el que le iba a entregar, dijo: ¿Soy yo, Maestro? Y él le dijo: Tú lo has dicho.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

26 Y mientras comían, tomó Jesús el pan, y lo bendijo, y lo partió y dio a sus discípulos, y dijo: Tomad, comed; esto es mi cuerpo.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

27 Y tomando la copa, y habiendo dado gracias, les dio, diciendo: Bebed de ella todos;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

28 porque esto es mi sangre del nuevo convenio, que por muchos es derramada para remisión de los pecados.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

29 Y os digo que desde ahora no beberé más de este fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día cuando lo beba nuevo con vosotros en el reino de mi Padre.

30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

30 Y cuando hubieron cantado el himno, salieron al monte de los Olivos.

31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

31 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Todos vosotros os escandalizaréis de mí esta noche; porque escrito está: Heriré al Pastor, y las ovejas del rebaño serán dispersadas.

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

32 Pero después que haya resucitado, iré delante de vosotros a Galilea.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

33 Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Aunque todos se escandalicen de ti, yo nunca me escandalizaré.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

34 Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo que esta noche, antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

35 Le dijo Pedro: Aunque me sea menester morir contigo, no te negaré. Y todos los discípulos dijeron lo mismo.

36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

36 Entonces llegó Jesús con ellos a un lugar que se llama Getsemaní, y dijo a sus discípulos: Sentaos aquí, mientras voy allí y oro.

37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

37 Y tomando consigo a Pedro y a los dos hijos de Zebedeo, comenzó a entristecerse y a angustiarse en gran manera.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

38 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Mi alma está muy triste, hasta la muerte; quedaos aquí y velad conmigo.

39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

39 Y yéndose un poco más adelante, se postró sobre su rostro, orando y diciendo: Padre mío, si es posible, pase de mí esta copa; pero no sea como yo quiero, sino como tú.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

40 Y vino a sus discípulos y los halló durmiendo, y dijo a Pedro: ¿Así que no habéis podido velar conmigo una hora?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

41 Velad y orad, para que no entréis en tentación; el espíritu a la verdad está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil.

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

42 Otra vez fue y oró por segunda vez, diciendo: Padre mío, si no puede pasar de mí esta copa sin que yo la beba, hágase tu voluntad.

43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

43 Y vino otra vez y los halló durmiendo, porque los ojos de ellos estaban cargados de sueño.

44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

44 Y dejándolos, se fue de nuevo y oró por tercera vez, diciendo las mismas palabras.

45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

45 Entonces vino a sus discípulos y les dijo: Dormid ya, y descansad. He aquí ha llegado la hora, y el Hijo del Hombre es entregado en manos de pecadores.

46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

46 ¡Levantaos, vamos! He aquí ha llegado el que me entrega.

47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

47 Mientras todavía hablaba, he aquí llegó Judas, uno de los doce, y con él mucha gente con espadas y con palos, de parte de los principales sacerdotes y de los ancianos del pueblo.

48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

48 Y el que le entregaba les había dado señal, diciendo: Al que yo bese, ese es; prendedle.

49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

49 Y enseguida se acercó a Jesús y dijo: Salve, Maestro. Y le besó.

50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

50 Y Jesús le dijo: Amigo, ¿a qué vienes? Entonces se acercaron, y echaron mano a Jesús y le prendieron.

51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

51 Y he aquí, uno de los que estaban con Jesús, extendiendo la mano, sacó su espada, e hirió a un siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja.

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

52 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Vuelve tu espada a su lugar, porque todos los que tomen espada, a espada perecerán.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

53 ¿Acaso piensas que no puedo orar a mi Padre ahora, y que él no me daría más de doce legiones de ángeles?

54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

54 ¿Cómo, pues, se cumplirían las Escrituras de que así debe suceder?

55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

55 En aquella hora dijo Jesús a la gente: ¿Así como contra un ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos para prenderme? Cada día me sentaba con vosotros enseñando en el templo, y no me prendisteis.

56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

56 Mas todo esto ha sucedido para que se cumplan las Escrituras de los profetas. Entonces todos los discípulos, dejándole, huyeron.

57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

57 Y los que prendieron a Jesús le llevaron a Caifás, el sumo sacerdote, donde los escribas y los ancianos estaban reunidos.

58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

58 Mas Pedro le seguía de lejos hasta el patio del sumo sacerdote; y entrando, se sentó con los guardias, para ver el fin.

59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

59 Y los principales sacerdotes, y los ancianos y todo el consejo buscaban falso testimonio contra Jesús, para entregarlo a la muerte;

60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

60 pero no lo hallaron, aunque muchos testigos falsos se presentaban; mas al fin vinieron dos testigos falsos,

61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

61 que dijeron: Este dijo: Puedo derribar el templo de Dios y en tres días reedificarlo.

62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

62 Y levantándose el sumo sacerdote, le dijo: ¿No respondes nada? ¿Qué testifican estos contra ti?

63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

63 Mas Jesús callaba. Entonces el sumo sacerdote le dijo: Te conjuro por el Dios viviente, que nos digas si eres tú el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios.

64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

64 Jesús le dijo: Tú lo has dicho; y además os digo que desde ahora veréis al Hijo del Hombre sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios, y viniendo en las nubes del cielo.

65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

65 Entonces el sumo sacerdote rasgó sus vestiduras, diciendo: ¡Ha blasfemado! ¿Qué más necesidad tenemos de testigos? He aquí, ahora mismo habéis oído su blasfemia.

66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

66 ¿Qué os parece? Y respondiendo ellos, dijeron: ¡Es culpable de muerte!

67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

67 Entonces le escupieron en el rostro y le dieron de puñetazos; y otros le abofeteaban,

68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

68 diciendo: Profetízanos tú, Cristo, quién es el que te ha golpeado.

69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

69 Y Pedro estaba sentado fuera en el patio; y se acercó a él una criada, diciendo: Tú también estabas con Jesús, el galileo.

70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

70 Pero él negó delante de todos, diciendo: No sé lo que dices.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

71 Y saliendo él a la puerta, le vio otra y dijo a los que estaban allí: También este estaba con Jesús de Nazaret.

72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

72 Y negó otra vez con juramento: No conozco al hombre.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

73 Y un poco después se acercaron los que estaban por allí y dijeron a Pedro: Verdaderamente también tú eres de ellos, porque aun tu manera de hablar te descubre.

74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

74 Entonces él comenzó a maldecir y a jurar, diciendo: ¡No conozco al hombre! Y enseguida cantó el gallo.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

75 Entonces se acordó Pedro de las palabras que Jesús le había dicho: Antes que cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces. Y saliendo fuera, lloró amargamente.
