1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

1 Y cuando Jesús nació en Belén de Judea en los días del rey Herodes, he aquí, unos magos vinieron del oriente a Jerusalén,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

2 diciendo: ¿Dónde está el Rey de los judíos que ha nacido? Porque su estrella hemos visto en el oriente y venimos a adorarle.

3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

3 Y al oír esto, el rey Herodes se turbó, y toda Jerusalén con él.

4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

4 Y, habiendo convocado a todos los principales sacerdotes y a los escribas del pueblo, les preguntó dónde había de nacer el Cristo.

5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judæa: for thus it is written by the prophet,

5 Y ellos le dijeron: En Belén de Judea, porque así está escrito por el profeta:

6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

6 Y tú, Belén, de tierra de Judá, no eres la más pequeña entre los príncipes de Judá; porque de ti saldrá un guiador, que apacentará a mi pueblo Israel.

7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

7 Entonces Herodes, llamando en secreto a los magos, indagó de ellos diligentemente el tiempo en que había aparecido la estrella;

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

8 y enviándolos a Belén, dijo: Id allá, y preguntad con diligencia acerca del niño y, cuando le halléis, hacédmelo saber, para que yo también vaya y le adore.

9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

9 Y ellos, habiendo oído al rey, se fueron; y he aquí la estrella que habían visto en el oriente iba delante de ellos, hasta que, llegando, se detuvo sobre donde estaba el niño.

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

10 Y cuando vieron la estrella, se regocijaron con gran gozo.

11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

11 Y cuando entraron en la casa, vieron al niño con su madre María, y postrándose, le adoraron; y abriendo sus tesoros, le ofrecieron presentes: oro, e incienso y mirra.

12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

12 Pero avisados por revelación, en sueños, que no volviesen a Herodes, regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.

13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

13 Y cuando hubieron partido, he aquí un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José, diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y a su madre, y huye a Egipto, y quédate allá hasta que yo te lo diga, porque acontecerá que Herodes buscará al niño para matarlo.

14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

14 Y él, despertando, tomó de noche al niño y a su madre, y se fue a Egipto;

15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

15 y estuvo allá hasta la muerte de Herodes, para que se cumpliese lo que el Señor declaró por medio del profeta, cuando dijo: De Egipto llamé a mi Hijo.

16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

16 Herodes entonces, cuando se vio burlado por los magos, se enojó mucho, y mandó matar a todos los niños menores de dos años que había en Belén y en todos sus alrededores, conforme al tiempo que había averiguado de los magos.

17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,

17 Entonces se cumplió lo dicho por medio del profeta Jeremías, cuando dijo:

18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

18 Voz fue oída en Ramá, grande lamentación, lloro y gemido; Raquel que llora por sus hijos, y no quiso ser consolada, porque perecieron.

19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

19 Pero cuando hubo muerto Herodes, he aquí, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José en Egipto,

20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.

20 diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, que ya han muerto los que procuraban la muerte del niño.

21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

21 Entonces él se levantó, y tomó al niño y a su madre, y se fue a la tierra de Israel.

22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judæa in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:

22 Pero cuando oyó que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de Herodes, su padre, temió ir allá; y advertido por revelación, en sueños, se fue a la región de Galilea.

23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

23 Y vino y habitó en la ciudad que se llama Nazaret, para que se cumpliese lo que fue dicho por medio de los profetas, que había de ser llamado nazareno.
