1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

1 Y después de seis días, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, y a Jacobo y a Juan, su hermano, y los llevó aparte a un monte alto;

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

2 y se transfiguró delante de ellos; y resplandeció su rostro como el sol, y sus vestidos se hicieron blancos como la luz.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

3 Y he aquí se les aparecieron Moisés y Elías, hablando con él.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

4 Y respondiendo Pedro, dijo a Jesús: Señor, bueno es que estemos aquí; si quieres, hagamos aquí tres enramadas: una para ti, una para Moisés y otra para Elías.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

5 Y mientras él aún hablaba, he aquí una nube de luz los cubrió; y he aquí una voz desde la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien me complazco; a él oíd.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

6 Y al oír esto, los discípulos se postraron sobre sus rostros y temieron en gran manera.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

7 Entonces Jesús, acercándose, los tocó y dijo: Levantaos y no temáis.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

8 Y alzando ellos sus ojos, no vieron a nadie, sino a Jesús solo.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

9 Y cuando descendieron del monte, Jesús les mandó, diciendo: No digáis a nadie la visión, hasta que el Hijo del Hombre resucite de entre los muertos.

10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

10 Entonces sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué, pues, dicen los escribas que es menester que Elías venga primero?

11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

11 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: A la verdad, Elías vendrá primero y restaurará todas las cosas.

12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

12 Mas os digo que Elías ya vino, y no le reconocieron, sino que hicieron con él todo lo que quisieron; así también el Hijo del Hombre padecerá a manos de ellos.

13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

13 Los discípulos entonces entendieron que les había hablado de Juan el Bautista.

14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

14 Y cuando ellos llegaron al gentío, vino a él un hombre que se arrodilló delante de él, diciendo:

15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

15 Señor, ten misericordia de mi hijo, que es lunático y padece terriblemente; porque muchas veces cae en el fuego, y muchas otras en el agua.

16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

16 Y lo he traído a tus discípulos, pero no lo han podido sanar.

17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

17 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os he de soportar? Traédmelo acá.

18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

18 Y Jesús reprendió al demonio, y este salió del muchacho, y quedó sano desde aquella hora.

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

19 Entonces, los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús aparte y dijeron: ¿Por qué nosotros no pudimos echarlo fuera?

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

20 Y Jesús les dijo: Por vuestra incredulidad; porque de cierto os digo que si tuviereis fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis a este monte: Pásate de aquí allá, y se pasará; y nada os será imposible.

21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

21 Pero este género no sale sino con oración y ayuno.

22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

22 Y estando ellos en Galilea, Jesús les dijo: El Hijo del Hombre será entregado en manos de hombres,

23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

23 y le matarán; mas al tercer día resucitará. Y ellos se entristecieron en gran manera.

24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

24 Y cuando llegaron a Capernaúm, fueron a Pedro los que cobraban las dos dracmas y dijeron: ¿Vuestro Maestro no paga las dos dracmas?

25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

25 Él dijo: Sí. Y entrando él en la casa, Jesús le habló antes, diciendo: ¿Qué te parece, Simón? Los reyes de la tierra, ¿de quiénes cobran los tributos o los impuestos? ¿De sus hijos o de los extraños?

26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

26 Pedro le dijo: De los extraños. Jesús le dijo: Luego los hijos están exentos.

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

27 Mas para no ofenderlos, ve al mar y echa el anzuelo, y al primer pez que salga, ábrele la boca y hallarás un estatero; tómalo y dáselo por mí y por ti.
