1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

1 Y salió de allí y fue a su tierra, y le siguieron sus discípulos.

2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

2 Y cuando llegó el día de reposo, comenzó a enseñar en la sinagoga; y muchos, oyéndole, estaban atónitos y decían: ¿De dónde saca este estas cosas? ¿Y qué sabiduría es esta que le es dada, y tales maravillas que por sus manos son hechas?

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

3 ¿No es este el carpintero, hijo de María, hermano de Jacobo, y de José, y de Judas y de Simón? ¿No están también aquí con nosotros sus hermanas? Y se escandalizaban de él.

4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

4 Mas Jesús les decía: No hay profeta sin honra sino en su propia tierra, y entre sus parientes y en su casa.

5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

5 Y no pudo hacer allí ningún milagro; solamente sanó a unos pocos enfermos, poniendo sobre ellos las manos.

6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

6 Y estaba asombrado de la incredulidad de ellos. Y recorría las aldeas de alrededor, enseñando.

7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

7 Y llamó a los doce y comenzó a enviarlos de dos en dos; y les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos.

8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

8 Y les mandó que no llevasen nada para el camino: ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero en la bolsa, sino solamente bastón,

9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

9 y que calzasen sandalias y no vistiesen dos túnicas.

10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

10 Y les dijo: Dondequiera que entréis en una casa, quedaos en ella hasta que salgáis de aquel lugar.

11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

11 Y por todos aquellos que no os recibieren ni os oyeren, saliendo de allí, sacudid el polvo que está debajo de vuestros pies, en testimonio contra ellos. De cierto os digo que en el día del juicio será más tolerable el castigo para los de Sodoma y Gomorra que para aquella ciudad.

12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

12 Y saliendo, predicaban que los hombres se arrepintiesen.

13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

13 Y echaban fuera muchos demonios, y ungían con aceite a muchos enfermos y los sanaban.

14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

14 Y oyó el rey Herodes la fama de Jesús, porque su nombre se había hecho notorio, y dijo: Juan el Bautista ha resucitado de entre los muertos, y por tanto, poderes milagrosos actúan en él.

15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.

15 Otros decían: Es Elías. Y otros decían: Es profeta, o alguno de los profetas.

16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

16 Y oyéndo lo Herodes, dijo: Este es Juan, el que yo decapité; él ha resucitado de los muertos.

17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

17 Porque el mismo Herodes había enviado a apresar a Juan y le había encadenado en la cárcel a causa de Herodías, esposa de Felipe, su hermano; pues la había tomado por esposa.

18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

18 Porque Juan decía a Herodes: No te es lícito tener la esposa de tu hermano.

19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

19 Mas Herodías le acechaba y deseaba matarle. Pero no podía,

20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

20 porque Herodes temía a Juan, sabiendo que era un hombre justo y santo, y le tenía respeto; y oyéndole, hacía muchas cosas; y le oía de buena gana.

21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

21 Y llegó un día oportuno en que Herodes, en la fiesta de su cumpleaños, daba una cena a sus príncipes y tribunos, y a los principales de Galilea;

22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

22 y entró la hija de Herodías y danzó, y agradó a Herodes y a los que estaban con él a la mesa, y el rey dijo a la muchacha: Pídeme lo que quieras, que yo te lo daré.

23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

23 Y le juró: Todo lo que me pidas te daré, hasta la mitad de mi reino.

24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.

24 Y saliendo ella, dijo a su madre: ¿Qué pediré? Y ella le dijo: La cabeza de Juan el Bautista.

25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

25 Entonces ella entró prontamente ante el rey, y pidió diciendo: Quiero que ahora mismo me des en un plato la cabeza de Juan el Bautista.

26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

26 Y el rey se entristeció mucho, pero a causa del juramento y de los que estaban con él a la mesa, no quiso desairarla.

27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

27 Y enseguida el rey, enviando a uno de la guardia, mandó que fuese traída la cabeza de Juan;

28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.

28 el guardia fue y lo decapitó en la cárcel, y trajo su cabeza en un plato y se la dio a la muchacha, y la muchacha se la dio a su madre.

29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

29 Y oyéndo lo sus discípulos, vinieron y tomaron su cuerpo, y lo pusieron en un sepulcro.

30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

30 Y los apóstoles se reunieron con Jesús y le contaron todo lo que habían hecho y lo que habían enseñado.

31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

31 Y él les dijo: Venid vosotros aparte a un lugar desierto, y reposad un poco. Porque eran muchos los que iban y venían, de modo que ni aun tenían oportunidad de comer.

32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

32 Y se fueron solos en una barca a un lugar desierto.

33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

33 Pero muchos los vieron ir y le reconocieron; y concurrieron allá muchos a pie desde las ciudades, y llegaron antes que ellos y se reunieron con él.

34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

34 Y saliendo Jesús, vio una gran multitud y tuvo compasión de ellos, porque eran como ovejas que no tenían pastor; y comenzó a enseñarles muchas cosas.

35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

35 Y cuando ya era muy avanzada la hora, sus discípulos se acercaron a él, diciendo: El lugar es desierto y la hora ya muy entrada.

36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

36 Despídelos para que vayan a los campos y las aldeas de alrededor y compren para sí pan, porque no tienen qué comer.

37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

37 Y respondiendo él, les dijo: Dadles de comer vosotros. Y le dijeron: ¿Quieres que vayamos y compremos pan por doscientos denarios y les demos de comer?

38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

38 Y él les dijo: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Id y vedlo. Y al saberlo, dijeron: Cinco, y dos peces.

39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.

39 Y les mandó que hiciesen recostar a todos por grupos sobre la hierba verde.

40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

40 Y se recostaron por grupos, de ciento en ciento, y de cincuenta en cincuenta.

41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

41 Y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, y mirando al cielo, bendijo y partió los panes, y dio a sus discípulos para que los pusiesen delante; y repartió entre todos los dos peces.

42 And they did all eat, and were filled.

42 Y comieron todos y se saciaron.

43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.

43 Y recogieron doce cestas llenas de los pedazos y de lo sobrante de los peces.

44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.

44 Y los que comieron eran cinco mil hombres.

45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

45 Y enseguida dio prisa a sus discípulos a subir en la barca e ir delante de él a Betsaida, al otro lado, entretanto que él despedía a la multitud.

46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

46 Y después que los hubo despedido, se fue al monte a orar.

47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.

47 Y cuando fue ya tarde, la barca estaba en medio del mar, y él solo en tierra.

48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

48 Y los vio fatigados, remando, porque el viento les era contrario; y cerca de la cuarta vigilia de la noche, vino a ellos caminando sobre el mar, y quería adelantárseles.

49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:

49 Y viéndole ellos andar sobre el mar, pensaron que era un fantasma y dieron voces;

50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

50 porque todos le veían y se turbaron. Pero enseguida habló con ellos y les dijo: ¡Tened buen ánimo; yo soy, no temáis!

51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

51 Y subió a ellos en la barca, y se calmó el viento; y ellos estaban asombrados en gran manera y se maravillaban;

52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

52 porque aún no habían entendido lo de los panes, por cuanto estaban endurecidos sus corazones.

53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

53 Y cuando pasaron al otro lado, llegaron a la tierra de Genesaret y arribaron a la orilla.

54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

54 Y saliendo ellos de la barca, de inmediato le reconocieron.

55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

55 Y recorriendo toda la tierra de alrededor, comenzaron a traer enfermos en lechos de todas partes a donde oían que él estaba.

56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

56 Y dondequiera que entraba, en aldeas, o en ciudades o en campos, ponían en las calles a los que estaban enfermos y le rogaban que les permitiese tocar siquiera el borde de su manto; y todos los que le tocaban quedaban sanos.
