1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

1 Y llegaron al otro lado del mar, a la región de los gadarenos.

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

2 Y cuando salió él de la barca, enseguida le salió al encuentro, de entre los sepulcros, un hombre con un espíritu inmundo,

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

3 que moraba en los sepulcros, y ni aun con cadenas podían atarle;

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

4 porque muchas veces había sido atado con grilletes y cadenas, mas las cadenas habían sido hechas pedazos por él, y los grilletes desmenuzados; y nadie le podía dominar.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

5 Y siempre, de día y de noche, andaba dando voces en los montes y en los sepulcros, e hiriéndose con piedras.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

6 Y cuando vio a Jesús de lejos, corrió y le adoró.

7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

7 Y clamando a gran voz, dijo: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te imploro por Dios que no me atormentes.

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

8 Porque le decía: Sal de este hombre, espíritu inmundo.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

9 Y le preguntó: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y respondió, diciendo: Legión me llamo, porque somos muchos.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

10 Y le rogaba mucho que no los enviase fuera de aquella región.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

11 Y había allí cerca del monte un gran hato de cerdos paciendo.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

12 Y le rogaron todos los demonios, diciendo: Envíanos a los cerdos para que entremos en ellos.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

13 Y Jesús se lo permitió. Y saliendo aquellos espíritus inmundos, entraron en los cerdos, y el hato se lanzó al mar por un despeñadero, los cuales eran como dos mil; y en el mar se ahogaron.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

14 Y los que apacentaban los cerdos huyeron y dieron aviso en la ciudad y en los campos. Y salieron para ver qué era aquello que había acontecido.

15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

15 Y vinieron a Jesús y vieron al que había sido atormentado por el demonio, y que había tenido la legión, sentado y vestido y en su juicio cabal; y tuvieron miedo.

16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

16 Y los que lo habían visto les contaron lo que le había acontecido al que había tenido el demonio, y lo de los cerdos.

17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

17 Y comenzaron a rogarle a Jesús que se fuese de sus contornos.

18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

18 Y entrando él en la barca, el que había estado poseído por el demonio le rogaba que le dejase estar con él.

19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

19 Mas Jesús no se lo permitió, sino que le dijo: Vete a tu casa, a los tuyos, y cuéntales cuán grandes cosas el Señor ha hecho contigo y cómo ha tenido misericordia de ti.

20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

20 Entonces se fue y comenzó a publicar en Decápolis cuán grandes cosas Jesús había hecho con él; y todos se maravillaban.

21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

21 Y pasando otra vez Jesús en una barca al otro lado, se reunió alrededor de él una gran multitud; y él estaba junto al mar.

22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

22 Y vino uno de los principales de la sinagoga, llamado Jairo; y cuando le vio, se postró a sus pies

23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

23 y le rogaba mucho, diciendo: Mi hija está al borde de la muerte; ven y pon las manos sobre ella para que sea salva, y viva.

24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

24 Y fue con él, y le seguía una gran multitud, y le apretaban.

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

25 Y una mujer que padecía de flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

26 y había sufrido mucho a manos de muchos médicos, y había gastado todo lo que tenía, y de nada le había aprovechado, sino que le iba peor,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

27 cuando oyó hablar de Jesús, se acercó por detrás entre la multitud y tocó su manto.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

28 Porque decía: Si tocare tan solo su manto, quedaré sana.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

29 Y al instante la fuente de sangre se secó, y sintió en el cuerpo que estaba sana de aquel padecimiento.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

30 E inmediatamente Jesús, conociendo en sí mismo que había salido virtud de él, volviéndose a la multitud, dijo: ¿Quién ha tocado mis vestidos?

31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

31 Y le dijeron sus discípulos: Ves que la multitud te aprieta, y dices: ¿Quién me ha tocado?

32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

32 Y él miraba alrededor para ver a la que había hecho esto.

33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

33 Entonces la mujer, temiendo y temblando, sabiendo lo que en ella se había hecho, vino y se postró delante de él, y le dijo toda la verdad.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

34 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado; ve en paz y queda sana de tu aflicción.

35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

35 Y mientras él aún hablaba, vinieron de la casa del principal de la sinagoga, diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto, ¿para qué molestas más al Maestro?

36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

36 Pero Jesús, oyendo lo que se decía, dijo al principal de la sinagoga: No temas, cree solamente.

37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

37 Y no permitió que nadie fuese con él sino Pedro, y Jacobo y Juan, hermano de Jacobo.

38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

38 Y vino a la casa del principal de la sinagoga, y vio el alboroto y a los que lloraban y gemían mucho.

39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

39 Y entrando, les dijo: ¿Por qué alborotáis y lloráis? La muchacha no está muerta, sino duerme.

40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

40 Y hacían burla de él; mas él, echando fuera a todos, tomó al padre y a la madre de la muchacha, y a los que estaban con él, y entró donde estaba la muchacha.

41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

41 Y tomando la mano de la muchacha, le dijo: Talita cumi; que interpretado es: Muchacha, a ti te digo, levántate.

42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

42 Y al instante la muchacha se levantó y andaba, pues tenía doce años. Y se espantaron con gran espanto.

43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

43 Mas él les mandó mucho que nadie lo supiese, y dijo que le diesen de comer a la muchacha.
