1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

1 Y otra vez comenzó a enseñar junto al mar, y se reunió alrededor de él tanta gente, que entró él en una barca y se sentó en ella; y toda la gente estaba en tierra junto al mar.

2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

2 Y les enseñaba por parábolas muchas cosas; y les decía en su doctrina:

3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

3 Oíd: He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar.

4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

4 Y aconteció, al sembrar, que una parte cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves del cielo y se la comieron.

5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

5 Y otra parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha tierra; y brotó pronto, porque la tierra no era profunda.

6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

6 Pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y por cuanto no tenía raíz, se secó.

7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

7 Y otra parte cayó entre espinos; y crecieron los espinos y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto.

8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

8 Y otra parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto que brotó y creció; y dio a treinta, y a sesenta y a ciento por uno.

9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9 Entonces les dijo: El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

10 Y cuando estuvo solo, los que estaban cerca de él, con los doce, le preguntaron sobre la parábola.

11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

11 Y les dijo: A vosotros os es dado saber el misterio del reino de Dios; mas a los que están fuera, por parábolas reciben todas las cosas,

12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

12 para que viendo, vean y no perciban; y oyendo, oigan y no entiendan; no sea que se conviertan y les sean perdonados los pecados.

13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

13 Y les dijo: ¿No conocéis esta parábola? ¿Cómo, pues, entenderéis todas las parábolas?

14 The sower soweth the word.

14 El sembrador es el que siembra la palabra.

15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

15 Y estos son los de junto al camino en los que se siembra la palabra; mas después que la han oído, inmediatamente viene Satanás y quita la palabra que se sembró en sus corazones.

16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

16 Y de igual manera, estos son los que son sembrados en pedregales, los que cuando han oído la palabra, enseguida la toman con gozo;

17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

17 pero no tienen raíz en sí, sino que son temporales; y cuando viene la tribulación o la persecución por causa de la palabra, enseguida tropiezan.

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

18 Y estos son los que son sembrados entre espinos, los que oyen la palabra,

19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

19 pero los afanes de este mundo, y el engaño de las riquezas, y las codicias de otras cosas entran y ahogan la palabra, y esta se hace infructuosa.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

20 Y estos son los que son sembrados en buena tierra, los que oyen la palabra, y la reciben y dan fruto, a treinta, a sesenta y a ciento por uno.

21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

21 También les dijo: ¿Acaso se trae la luz para ponerla debajo del almud o debajo de la cama? ¿No es para ponerla en el candelero?

22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

22 Porque no hay nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado, ni nada secreto que no haya de descubrirse.

23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

23 Si alguno tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

24 Les dijo también: Atended a lo que oís; porque con la medida que medís, os será medido, y a vosotros los que oís, os será añadido.

25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

25 Porque al que tiene, le será dado; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

26 Decía además: Así es el reino de Dios, como cuando un hombre echa semilla en la tierra;

27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

27 y duerme y se levanta, de noche y de día, y la semilla brota y crece sin que él sepa cómo.

28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

28 Porque de sí fructifica la tierra: primero hierba, luego espiga, después grano lleno en la espiga;

29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

29 y cuando el fruto se produce, enseguida se mete la hoz, porque la siega ha llegado.

30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

30 Y decía: ¿A qué haremos semejante el reino de Dios? ¿O con qué parábola lo compararemos?

31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

31 Es como el grano de mostaza que, cuando se siembra en tierra, es la más pequeña de todas las semillas que hay en la tierra;

32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

32 mas después de sembrado, crece y se hace la mayor de todas las hortalizas, y echa grandes ramas, de tal manera que las aves del cielo pueden morar bajo su sombra.

33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

33 Y con muchas parábolas semejantes les hablaba la palabra, conforme a lo que podían oír.

34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

34 Y sin parábolas no les hablaba; mas a sus discípulos en privado les declaraba todo.

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

35 Y les dijo aquel día cuando anochecía: Pasemos al otro lado.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

36 Y despidiendo a la multitud, le llevaron así como estaba en la barca; y había también con él otras barcas.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

37 Entonces se levantó una gran tempestad de viento, y echaba las olas en la barca, de tal manera que ya se anegaba.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

38 Y él estaba en la popa, durmiendo sobre un cabezal, y le despertaron y le dijeron: Maestro, ¿no tienes cuidado que perecemos?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

39 Y levantándose, reprendió al viento y dijo al mar: ¡Calla, enmudece! Y cesó el viento y se hizo grande bonanza.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

40 Y a ellos les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis así amedrentados? ¿Cómo no tenéis fe?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

41 Y tuvieron gran temor y se decían el uno al otro: ¿Quién es este, que aun el viento y el mar le obedecen?
