1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

1 Y Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

2 por cuarenta días, y era tentado por el diablo. Y no comió nada en aquellos días; y pasados estos, tuvo hambre.

3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

3 Entonces el diablo le dijo: Si eres el Hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

4 Y Jesús, respondiéndole, dijo: Escrito está: No solo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra de Dios.

5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

5 Y le llevó el diablo a un alto monte y le mostró en un momento todos los reinos de la tierra.

6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

6 Y le dijo el diablo: A ti te daré toda esta potestad y la gloria de ellos, porque a mí me ha sido entregada, y a quien quiero la doy;

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

7 pues si tú me adorares, todos serán tuyos.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

8 Y respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Vete de mí, Satanás, porque escrito está: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él solamente servirás.

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

9 Entonces le llevó a Jerusalén y le puso sobre el pináculo del templo y le dijo: Si eres el Hijo de Dios, lánzate de aquí abajo,

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

10 porque escrito está: A sus ángeles mandará para que te guarden;

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

11 y en las manos te llevarán, para que no tropiece tu pie en piedra.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

12 Y respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Dicho está: No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

13 Y cuando el diablo hubo acabado toda tentación, se alejó de él por un tiempo.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

14 Y Jesús volvió en el poder del Espíritu a Galilea, y se difundió su fama por toda la región de alrededor,

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

15 y enseñaba en las sinagogas de ellos y era glorificado por todos.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

16 Y vino a Nazaret, donde se había criado; y, conforme a su costumbre, el día de reposo entró en la sinagoga y se levantó a leer.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

17 Y se le dio el libro del profeta Isaías; y habiendo abierto el rollo, halló el lugar donde estaba escrito:

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

18 El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para dar buenas nuevas a los pobres; me ha enviado a sanar a los quebrantados de corazón, a pregonar libertad a los cautivos y dar vista a los ciegos; a poner en libertad a los quebrantados,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

19 a predicar el año agradable del Señor.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

20 Y enrollando el libro, lo dio al ayudante y se sentó; y los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

21 Y comenzó a decirles: Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura en vuestros oídos.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

22 Y todos daban testimonio de él y estaban maravillados de las palabras de gracia que salían de su boca, y decían: ¿No es este el hijo de José?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

23 Y les dijo: Sin duda me diréis este refrán: Médico, cúrate a ti mismo; de tantas cosas que hemos oído que se han hecho en Capernaúm, haz también aquí en tu tierra.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

24 Y dijo: De cierto os digo que ningún profeta es aceptado en su propia tierra.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

25 Mas en verdad os digo que muchas viudas había en Israel en los días de Elías, cuando el cielo fue cerrado por tres años y seis meses, y hubo una gran hambre en toda la tierra;

26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

26 pero a ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a una mujer viuda en Sarepta de Sidón.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

27 Y muchos leprosos había en Israel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, sino Naamán el sirio.

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

28 Entonces todos en la sinagoga se llenaron de ira al oír estas cosas;

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

29 y levantándose, le echaron fuera de la ciudad y le llevaron hasta la cumbre del monte sobre el cual estaba edificada la ciudad de ellos, para despeñarle.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

30 Pero él pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue.

31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

31 Y descendió a Capernaúm, ciudad de Galilea. Y les enseñaba en los días de reposo.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

32 Y se maravillaban de su doctrina, porque su palabra era con autoridad.

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

33 Y había en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía un espíritu de demonio inmundo, el cual exclamó a gran voz,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

34 diciendo: ¡Déjanos!, ¿qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

35 Y Jesús le reprendió, diciendo: ¡Enmudece y sal de él! Entonces el demonio, derribándole en medio de ellos, salió de él y no le hizo daño alguno.

36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

36 Y hubo asombro en todos, y hablaban entre sí, diciendo: ¿Qué palabra es esta, que con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen?

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

37 Y su fama se divulgaba en todas partes por todos los lugares de la comarca.

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

38 Entonces Jesús se levantó, salió de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón; y la suegra de Simón tenía mucha fiebre, y le rogaron por ella.

39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

39 E inclinándose hacia ella, reprendió la fiebre, y la fiebre la dejó; y enseguida ella se levantó y les servía.

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

40 Y al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diversas enfermedades los traían a él; y él, poniendo las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, los sanaba.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

41 Y también salían demonios de muchos, dando voces y diciendo: ¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios! Pero él los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar, porque sabían que él era el Cristo.

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

42 Y siendo ya de día, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto; y la gente le buscaba y, llegando hasta él, le detenían para que no se apartase de ellos.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

43 Mas él les dijo: Es necesario que anuncie el evangelio del reino de Dios también a otras ciudades, porque para esto he sido enviado.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

44 Y predicaba en las sinagogas de Galilea.
