1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

1 Levantándose entonces toda la multitud de ellos, le llevaron a Pilato.

2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

2 Y comenzaron a acusarle, diciendo: A este hemos hallado que pervierte a la nación y que prohíbe dar tributo a César, diciendo que él es el Cristo, un rey.

3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

3 Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos? Y respondiéndole él, dijo: Tú lo dices.

4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

4 Y Pilato dijo a los principales sacerdotes y a la gente: Ninguna culpa hallo en este hombre.

5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

5 Pero ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.

6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.

6 Entonces Pilato, al oír decir Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era galileo.

7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

7 Y al saber que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, lo remitió a Herodes, que en aquellos días también estaba en Jerusalén.

8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

8 Y Herodes, al ver a Jesús, se alegró mucho, porque hacía mucho tiempo que deseaba verle; porque había oído acerca de él muchas cosas y tenía esperanzas de que le vería hacer algún milagro.

9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

9 Y le preguntaba con muchas palabras, pero él nada le respondió.

10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

10 Y estaban allí los principales sacerdotes y los escribas acusándole con gran vehemencia.

11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

11 Entonces Herodes, con sus soldados, le menospreció y le escarneció, vistiéndole con un manto espléndido; y volvió a enviarle a Pilato.

12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

12 Y se hicieron amigos Pilato y Herodes aquel mismo día, porque antes estaban enemistados entre sí.

13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

13 Entonces Pilato, convocando a los principales sacerdotes, y a los oficiales y al pueblo,

14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

14 les dijo: Me habéis presentado a este como un hombre que desvía al pueblo; y he aquí, habiéndole interrogado yo delante de vosotros, no he hallado culpa alguna en este hombre de lo que le acusáis.

15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

15 Ni tampoco Herodes, porque os remití a él; y he aquí, ninguna cosa digna de muerte ha hecho.

16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

16 Le soltaré, pues, después de castigar le.

17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

17 Y tenía necesidad de soltarles un preso en cada fiesta.

18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

18 Pero toda la multitud dio voces a una, diciendo: ¡Fuera con ese, y suéltanos a Barrabás!

19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

19 (Este había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición en la ciudad y por un homicidio).

20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

20 Y les habló otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar a Jesús.

21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

21 Pero ellos volvieron a dar voces, diciendo: ¡Crucifícale, crucifícale!

22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

22 Y él les dijo por tercera vez: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho este? Ninguna culpa de muerte he hallado en él; le castigaré, pues, y le soltaré.

23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

23 Mas ellos insistían a grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado. Y las voces de ellos y de los principales sacerdotes prevalecieron.

24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

24 Entonces Pilato determinó que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían.

25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

25 Y les soltó a aquel que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y homicidio, a quien habían pedido; y entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos.

26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

26 Y, al llevarle, tomaron a un tal Simón de Cirene, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús.

27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

27 Y le seguía una gran multitud del pueblo, y de mujeres que lloraban y hacían lamentación por él.

28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

28 Mas Jesús, volviéndose hacia ellas, les dijo: Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloréis por mí, sino llorad por vosotras mismas y por vuestros hijos,

29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

29 porque he aquí vendrán días en que dirán: Bienaventuradas las estériles, y los vientres que no concibieron y los pechos que no criaron.

30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

30 Entonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: Caed sobre nosotros, y a los collados: Cubridnos,

31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

31 porque si en el árbol verde hacen estas cosas, ¿en el seco, qué no se hará?

32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

32 Y llevaban también con él a otros dos, que eran malhechores, para ser ejecutados.

33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

33 Y cuando llegaron al lugar que se llama de la Calavera, le crucificaron allí, y a los malhechores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda.

34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

34 Y Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y repartieron entre sí sus vestidos, echando suertes.

35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

35 Y el pueblo estaba mirando; y aun los gobernantes se burlaban de él junto con ellos, diciendo: A otros salvó; sálvese a sí mismo, si este es el Mesías, el escogido de Dios.

36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

36 También los soldados se burlaban de él, acercándose y ofreciéndole vinagre,

37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

37 y diciendo: Si tú eres el Rey de los judíos, sálvate a ti mismo.

38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38 Y había también sobre él un título escrito con letras griegas, y latinas y hebreas: ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS.

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

39 Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

40 Y respondiendo el otro, le reprendió, diciendo: ¿Ni siquiera temes tú a Dios, estando en la misma condenación?

41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

41 Y nosotros, a la verdad, justamente padecemos, porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos; pero este ningún mal hizo.

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

42 Y dijo a Jesús: Acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

43 Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.

44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

44 Y cuando era como la hora sexta, hubo tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena.

45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

45 Y el sol se oscureció, y el velo del templo se rasgó por en medio.

46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

46 Entonces Jesús, clamando a gran voz, dijo: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y habiendo dicho esto, expiró.

47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

47 Y cuando el centurión vio lo que había acontecido, dio gloria a Dios, diciendo: Verdaderamente este hombre era justo.

48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

48 Y toda la multitud de los que estaban presentes en este espectáculo, al ver lo que había acontecido, se volvían golpeándose el pecho.

49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

49 Mas todos sus conocidos y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea estaban mirando desde lejos estas cosas.

50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

50 Y he aquí, había un hombre llamado José que era miembro del concilio, hombre bueno y justo

51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

51 (quien no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos), de Arimatea, ciudad de Judea, que también esperaba el reino de Dios;

52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

52 este fue a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.

53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

53 Y bajándolo, lo envolvió en una sábana y lo puso en un sepulcro abierto en una peña, en el cual aún no se había puesto a nadie.

54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

54 Y era día de la preparación, y estaba para comenzar el día de reposo.

55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

55 Y las mujeres que habían venido con él desde Galilea le siguieron también y vieron el sepulcro y cómo fue puesto su cuerpo.

56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

56 Y regresaron y prepararon especias aromáticas y perfumes; y reposaron el día de reposo, conforme al mandamiento.
