1 And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

1 Y aconteció un día que, enseñando Jesús al pueblo en el templo y predicando el evangelio, llegaron los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, con los ancianos,

2 And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

2 y le hablaron, diciendo: Dinos: ¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, o quién es el que te ha dado esta autoridad?

3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

3 Respondiendo entonces Jesús, les dijo: Os haré yo también una pregunta; respondedme:

4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

4 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres?

5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

5 Y ellos discutían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos, del cielo, dirá: ¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis?

6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

6 Y si decimos, de los hombres, todo el pueblo nos apedreará, porque están convencidos de que Juan era profeta.

7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

7 Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde era.

8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

8 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Tampoco yo os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

9 Y comenzó a decir al pueblo esta parábola: Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a labradores y se ausentó por mucho tiempo.

10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

10 Y a su tiempo, envió un siervo a los labradores para que le diesen del fruto de la viña; pero los labradores le golpearon y le enviaron con las manos vacías.

11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

11 Y volvió a enviar otro siervo; pero ellos a este también le golpearon y le afrentaron y le enviaron con las manos vacías.

12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

12 Y volvió a enviar un tercer siervo; pero ellos también a este echaron fuera, herido.

13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

13 Entonces el señor de la viña dijo: ¿Qué haré? Enviaré a mi hijo amado; quizá cuando vean a este, le tendrán respeto.

14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

14 Pero los labradores, al verle, pensaron entre sí, diciendo: Este es el heredero; venid, matémosle para que la heredad sea nuestra.

15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

15 Y le echaron fuera de la viña y le mataron. ¿Qué, pues, les hará el señor de la viña?

16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

16 Vendrá y destruirá a estos labradores, y dará su viña a otros. Y cuando ellos lo oyeron, dijeron: ¡Dios nos libre!

17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

17 Mas él, mirándolos, dijo: ¿Qué, pues, es lo que está escrito: La piedra que desecharon los edificadores, esta ha llegado a ser cabeza del ángulo?

18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

18 Todo el que cayere sobre aquella piedra será quebrantado; mas sobre el que la piedra cayere, le desmenuzará.

19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

19 Y procuraban los principales sacerdotes y los escribas echarle mano en aquella hora, porque entendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola; pero temían al pueblo.

20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

20 Y, acechándole, enviaron espías que simulasen ser justos, a fin de sorprenderle en sus palabras, para entregarle al poder y a la autoridad del gobernador.

21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

21 Y le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que dices y enseñas con rectitud, y que no haces acepción de personas, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad.

22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?

22 ¿Nos es lícito dar tributo a César, o no?

23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

23 Pero él, entendiendo la astucia de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis?

24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cæsar's.

24 Mostradme la moneda. ¿De quién tiene la imagen y la inscripción? Y respondiendo, dijeron: De César.

25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

25 Entonces les dijo: Pues dad a César lo que es de César y a Dios lo que es de Dios.

26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

26 Y no pudieron sorprenderle en sus palabras delante del pueblo, sino que, maravillados de su respuesta, callaron.

27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

27 Y acercándose unos de los saduceos, los cuales niegan que haya resurrección, le preguntaron,

28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

28 diciendo: Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: Si el hermano de alguno muere teniendo esposa, y muere sin hijos, que su hermano la tome a ella y levante descendencia a su hermano.

29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

29 Había, pues, siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa y murió sin hijos.

30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

30 Y la tomó el segundo, el cual también murió sin hijos.

31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

31 Y la tomó el tercero; asimismo también todos los siete. Y murieron sin dejar descendientes.

32 Last of all the woman died also.

32 Y finalmente, murió también la mujer.

33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

33 En la resurrección, pues, ¿de cuál de ellos será esposa? Porque los siete la tuvieron por esposa.

34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

34 Entonces, respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los hijos de este mundo se casan y se dan en casamiento;

35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

35 pero los que fueren considerados dignos de alcanzar aquel mundo y de la resurrección de entre los muertos, no se casan ni se dan en casamiento.

36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

36 Porque ya no pueden morir, pues son iguales a los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios al ser hijos de la resurrección.

37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

37 Pero en cuanto a que los muertos han de resucitar, aun Moisés lo enseñó en el pasaje de la zarza, cuando llama al Señor: Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac y Dios de Jacob.

38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

38 Porque Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos, pues para él todos viven.

39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

39 Y respondiéndole algunos de los escribas, dijeron: Maestro, bien has dicho.

40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

40 Y no osaron preguntarle nada más.

41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

41 Y él les dijo: ¿Cómo es que dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David?

42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

42 Pues el mismo David dice en el libro de los Salmos: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi diestra,

43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

43 hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.

44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

44 Así que David le llama Señor; ¿cómo, pues, es su hijo?

45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

45 Y oyéndole todo el pueblo, dijo a sus discípulos:

46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

46 Guardaos de los escribas, que gustan de andar con ropas largas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas y los primeros asientos en las cenas;

47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

47 que devoran las casas de las viudas y, como pretexto, hacen largas oraciones; estos recibirán mayor condenación.
