1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

1 Y aconteció que, estando Jesús orando en un lugar, cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: Señor, enséñanos a orar, como también Juan enseñó a sus discípulos.

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

2 Y él les dijo: Cuando oréis, decid: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

3 El pan nuestro de cada día, dános lo hoy.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

4 Y perdónanos nuestros pecados, porque también nosotros perdonamos a todos los que nos deben. Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal.

5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

5 Les dijo también: ¿Quién de vosotros que tenga un amigo va a él a medianoche y le dice: Amigo, préstame tres panes,

6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

6 porque un amigo mío ha venido a mí de camino, y no tengo qué ofrecerle;

7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

7 y el de dentro, respondiendo, le dice: No me molestes; la puerta ya está cerrada, y mis niños están conmigo en cama; no puedo levantarme para dártelos?

8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

8 Os digo que, si no se levanta a dárselos por ser su amigo, sin embargo, por su importunidad se levantará y le dará todo lo que necesite.

9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

9 Y yo os digo: Pedid, y se os dará; buscad, y hallaréis; llamad, y se os abrirá,

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

10 porque todo aquel que pide, recibe; y el que busca, halla; y al que llama, se le abrirá.

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

11 ¿Y qué padre de vosotros, si su hijo le pide pan, le dará una piedra? ¿O si le pide pescado, en lugar de pescado, le dará una serpiente?

12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

12 O, si le pide un huevo, ¿le dará un escorpión?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

13 Pues si vosotros, siendo malos, sabéis dar buenas dádivas a vuestros hijos, ¿cuánto más vuestro Padre Celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a los que se lo pidan?

14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.

14 Y estaba Jesús echando fuera un demonio, el cual era mudo; y aconteció que, después de haber salido fuera el demonio, el mudo habló y la gente se maravilló.

15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

15 Pero algunos de ellos decían: Por Beelzebú, príncipe de los demonios, echa fuera los demonios.

16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

16 Y otros, para tentarle, le pedían una señal del cielo.

17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

17 Pero él, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, les dijo: Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado; y una casa dividida contra sí misma, cae.

18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.

18 Y si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo permanecerá en pie su reino? Porque decís que por Beelzebú yo echo fuera los demonios.

19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

19 Pues si yo echo fuera los demonios por Beelzebú, ¿vuestros hijos por quién los echan fuera? Por tanto, ellos serán vuestros jueces.

20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

20 Pero si por el dedo de Dios yo echo fuera los demonios, ciertamente el reino de Dios ha llegado a vosotros.

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

21 Cuando el hombre fuerte y armado guarda su casa, en paz está lo que posee.

22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

22 Pero si viene otro más fuerte que él y le vence, le quita todas sus armas en que confiaba y reparte sus despojos.

23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

23 El que no está conmigo, contra mí está; y el que conmigo no recoge, desparrama.

24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.

24 Cuando el espíritu inmundo sale del hombre, anda por lugares secos, buscando reposo; y, al no hallarlo, dice: Volveré a mi casa de donde salí.

25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.

25 Y cuando llega, la halla barrida y adornada.

26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

26 Entonces va y toma otros siete espíritus peores que él; y entran y habitan allí; y el estado final de aquel hombre es peor que el primero.

27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

27 Y aconteció que, mientras él decía estas cosas, una mujer de la multitud, levantando la voz, le dijo: ¡Bienaventurado el vientre que te trajo y los pechos que te criaron!

28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

28 Y él dijo: ¡Antes bien, bienaventurados los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la guardan!

29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

29 Y apiñándose la gente alrededor de él, comenzó a decir: Esta generación es mala; busca señal, pero señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás.

30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

30 Porque como Jonás fue señal a los ninivitas, así también lo será el Hijo del Hombre a esta generación.

31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

31 La reina del sur se levantará en el juicio con los hombres de esta generación y los condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para oír la sabiduría de Salomón. Y he aquí uno mayor que Salomón está en este lugar.

32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

32 Los hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio con esta generación y la condenarán, porque ante la predicación de Jonás se arrepintieron; y he aquí uno mayor que Jonás está en este lugar.

33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

33 Nadie pone en oculto la vela encendida, ni debajo del almud, sino en el candelero, para que los que entren vean la luz.

34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

34 La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo; pues si tu ojo es bueno, también todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz; pero si es malo, también tu cuerpo está en tinieblas.

35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

35 Mira, pues, no sea que la luz que hay en ti sea tinieblas.

36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

36 Así que, si todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz, no teniendo parte alguna de tinieblas, será todo luminoso, como cuando una lámpara te alumbra con su resplandor.

37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.

37 Y luego que hubo hablado, le rogó un fariseo que comiese con él; y Jesús entró y se sentó a la mesa.

38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.

38 Y el fariseo, cuando lo vio, se sorprendió de que no se hubiese lavado antes de comer.

39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

39 Y el Señor le dijo: Ahora bien, vosotros los fariseos limpiáis lo de fuera del vaso y del plato; pero vuestro interior está lleno de rapiña y de maldad.

40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

40 ¡Necios!, el que hizo lo de fuera, ¿no hizo también lo de dentro?

41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

41 Pero de lo que tenéis, dad limosna; y he aquí todo os será limpio.

42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

42 Pero, ¡ay de vosotros, fariseos!, que diezmáis la menta, y la ruda y toda hortaliza; pero pasáis por alto el juicio y la caridad de Dios. Pues estas cosas os era necesario hacer, sin dejar de hacer las otras.

43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.

43 ¡Ay de vosotros, fariseos!, que amáis las primeras sillas en las sinagogas y las salutaciones en las plazas.

44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

44 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas!, que sois como sepulcros que no se ven, y los hombres que andan por encima no lo saben.

45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.

45 Y respondiendo uno de los intérpretes de la ley, le dijo: Maestro, cuando dices esto, también nos afrentas a nosotros.

46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

46 Y él le dijo: ¡Ay de vosotros también, intérpretes de la ley!, porque cargáis a los hombres con cargas que no pueden llevar, pero vosotros ni aun con un dedo las tocáis.

47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

47 ¡Ay de vosotros!, que edificáis los sepulcros de los profetas a quienes mataron vuestros padres.

48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

48 De cierto dais testimonio de que consentís en los hechos de vuestros padres; porque a la verdad ellos los mataron, y vosotros edificáis sus sepulcros.

49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

49 Por eso, la sabiduría de Dios también dijo: Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles; y de ellos, a unos matarán y a otros perseguirán,

50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

50 para que se demande de esta generación la sangre de todos los profetas que ha sido derramada desde la fundación del mundo,

51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

51 desde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, que murió entre el altar y el templo; sí, os digo que será demandada de esta generación.

52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

52 ¡Ay de vosotros, intérpretes de la ley!, porque habéis quitado la llave de la ciencia; vosotros mismos no entrasteis, y a los que entraban se lo impedisteis.

53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:

53 Y diciéndoles estas cosas, los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a acosarle en gran manera y a provocarle a que hablase de muchas cosas,

54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

54 acechándole y procurando cazar alguna palabra de su boca para acusarle.
