1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

1 De manera que cuando Jesús supo que los fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía y bautizaba más discípulos que Juan

2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

2 (aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),

3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.

3 dejó Judea y se fue otra vez a Galilea.

4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

4 Y era menester que pasase por Samaria.

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

5 Llegó, pues, a una ciudad de Samaria que se llamaba Sicar, junto a la heredad que Jacob dio a su hijo José.

6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

6 Y estaba allí el pozo de Jacob. Entonces Jesús, cansado del camino, se sentó junto al pozo. Era como la hora sexta.

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

7 Vino una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua; y Jesús le dijo: Dame de beber.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

8 (Pues sus discípulos habían ido a la ciudad a comprar algo de comer).

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

9 Y la mujer samaritana le dijo: ¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? Porque los judíos no se tratan con los samaritanos.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Si conocieses el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber, tú le pedirías a él, y él te daría agua viva.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

11 La mujer le dijo: Señor, no tienes con qué sacar la, y el pozo es hondo. ¿De dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

12 ¿Acaso eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dio este pozo, del cual bebieron él, y sus hijos y sus ganados?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

13 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua volverá a tener sed;

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

14 mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré no tendrá sed jamás, sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él una fuente de agua que brote para vida eterna.

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

15 La mujer le dijo: Señor, dame esa agua, para que no tenga sed ni venga acá a sacar la.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

16 Jesús le dijo: Ve, llama a tu marido y ven acá.

17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

17 Respondió la mujer y dijo: No tengo marido. Jesús le dijo: Bien has dicho: No tengo marido,

18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

18 porque cinco maridos has tenido y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

19 Le dijo la mujer: Señor, me parece que tú eres profeta.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

20 Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, pero vosotros decís que en Jerusalén está el lugar donde se debe adorar.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

21 Jesús le dijo: Mujer, créeme que la hora viene cuando ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

22 Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos, porque la salvación viene de los judíos.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

23 Pero la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad, porque también el Padre busca a tales para que le adoren.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, es necesario que le adoren en espíritu y en verdad.

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

25 Le dijo la mujer: Sé que el Mesías ha de venir, el cual es llamado el Cristo; cuando él venga, nos declarará todas las cosas.

26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

26 Jesús le dijo: Yo soy, el que habla contigo.

27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

27 Y en esto vinieron sus discípulos y se sorprendieron de que hablara con una mujer; pero ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? o ¿Qué hablas con ella?

28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

28 Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fue a la ciudad y dijo a los hombres:

29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

29 Venid, ved a un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho. ¿No será este el Cristo?

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

30 Entonces salieron de la ciudad y fueron a él.

31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

31 Entretanto, los discípulos le rogaban, diciendo: Rabí, come.

32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

32 Y él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer que vosotros no sabéis.

33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

33 Entonces los discípulos se decían el uno al otro: ¿Le habrá traído alguien de comer?

34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

34 Jesús les dijo: Mi comida es que haga la voluntad del que me envió y que acabe su obra.

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

35 ¿No decís vosotros: Aún faltan cuatro meses para que llegue la siega? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos y mirad los campos, porque ya están blancos para la siega.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

36 Y el que siega recibe salario y recoge fruto para vida eterna, para que el que siembra también se regocije juntamente con el que siega.

37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

37 Porque en esto es verdadero el dicho: Uno es el que siembra, y otro es el que siega.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

38 Yo os he enviado a segar lo que vosotros no labrasteis; otros labraron, y vosotros habéis entrado en sus labores.

39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

39 Y muchos de los samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él por la palabra de la mujer, que daba testimonio, diciendo: Me dijo todo lo que he hecho.

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

40 Entonces vinieron los samaritanos a él y le rogaron que se quedase con ellos, y se quedó allí dos días.

41 And many more believed because of his own word;

41 Y muchos más creyeron por la palabra de él.

42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

42 Y decían a la mujer: Ya no creemos solo por tu palabra, porque nosotros mismos hemos oído y sabemos que verdaderamente este es el Salvador del mundo, el Cristo.

43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

43 Y dos días después, salió de allí y fue a Galilea.

44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

44 Porque Jesús mismo dio testimonio de que un profeta no tiene honra en su propia tierra.

45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

45 Y cuando vino a Galilea, los galileos le recibieron, habiendo visto todas las cosas que había hecho en Jerusalén, en el día de la fiesta, porque también ellos habían ido a la fiesta.

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

46 Vino, pues, Jesús otra vez a Caná de Galilea, donde había convertido el agua en vino. Y había en Capernaúm un oficial del rey, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo.

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

47 Cuando oyó aquel que Jesús había llegado de Judea a Galilea, fue a él y le rogó que descendiese y sanase a su hijo, porque estaba a punto de morir.

48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

48 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Si no veis señales y prodigios, no creeréis.

49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

49 El oficial del rey le dijo: Señor, desciende antes que mi hijo muera.

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

50 Jesús le dijo: Ve, tu hijo vive. Y el hombre creyó la palabra que Jesús le dijo y se fue.

51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

51 Y cuando ya él descendía, los siervos salieron a recibirle y le dieron nuevas, diciendo: Tu hijo vive.

52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

52 Entonces él les preguntó a qué hora había comenzado a estar mejor. Y le dijeron: Ayer a la hora séptima le dejó la fiebre.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

53 El padre entonces entendió que aquella era la hora cuando Jesús le dijo: Tu hijo vive; y creyó él con toda su casa.

54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.

54 Este segundo milagro hizo Jesús cuando fue de Judea a Galilea.
