1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

1 Y había un hombre de los fariseos que se llamaba Nicodemo, un principal entre los judíos.

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

2 Este vino a Jesús de noche y le dijo: Rabí, sabemos que eres maestro que ha venido de Dios, porque nadie puede hacer estos milagros que tú haces si no está Dios con él.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

3 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: De cierto, de cierto te digo que el que no naciere de nuevo no puede ver el reino de Dios.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

4 Nicodemo le dijo: ¿Cómo puede el hombre nacer siendo viejo? ¿Acaso puede entrar por segunda vez en el vientre de su madre y nacer?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

5 Respondió Jesús: De cierto, de cierto te digo que el que no naciere de agua y del Espíritu no puede entrar en el reino de Dios.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

6 Lo que es nacido de la carne, carne es; y lo que es nacido del Espíritu, espíritu es.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

7 No te maravilles de que te dije: Os es necesario nacer de nuevo.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

8 El viento sopla por donde quiere, y oyes su sonido; pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va; así es todo aquel que es nacido del Espíritu.

9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?

9 Respondió Nicodemo y le dijo: ¿Cómo puede hacerse esto?

10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: ¿Eres tú maestro de Israel y no sabes esto?

11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

11 De cierto, de cierto te digo que de lo que sabemos, hablamos, y de lo que hemos visto, testificamos; pero no recibís nuestro testimonio.

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

12 Si os he dicho cosas terrenales y no creéis, ¿cómo creeréis si os digo las celestiales?

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

13 Y nadie ha subido al cielo sino el que descendió del cielo, el Hijo del Hombre que está en el cielo.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

14 Y como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto, así es necesario que el Hijo del Hombre sea levantado,

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

15 para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

16 Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo que ha dado a su Hijo Unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

17 Porque no envió Dios a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino para que el mundo sea salvo por él.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

18 El que en él cree no es condenado; pero el que no cree, ya ha sido condenado, porque no ha creído en el nombre del unigénito Hijo de Dios.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

19 Y esta es la condenación: que la luz vino al mundo, pero los hombres amaron más las tinieblas que la luz, porque sus obras eran malas.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

20 Pues todo aquel que hace lo malo aborrece la luz y no viene a la luz, para que sus obras no sean reprendidas.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

21 Pero el que vive conforme a la verdad viene a la luz, para que se ponga de manifiesto que sus obras son hechas en Dios.

22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judæa; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

22 Después de esto, vino Jesús con sus discípulos a la tierra de Judea; y estaba allí con ellos y bautizaba.

23 And John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

23 Y Juan bautizaba también en Enón, junto a Salim, porque había allí muchas aguas; y venían y eran bautizados,

24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

24 porque Juan aún no había sido puesto en la cárcel.

25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.

25 Entonces hubo una discusión entre los discípulos de Juan y los judíos acerca de la purificación.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

26 Y vinieron a Juan y le dijeron: Rabí, el que estaba contigo al otro lado del Jordán, del que tú diste testimonio, he aquí bautiza, y todos van a él.

27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

27 Respondió Juan y dijo: No puede el hombre recibir nada si no le fuere dado del cielo.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

28 Vosotros mismos me sois testigos de que dije: Yo no soy el Cristo, sino que he sido enviado delante de él.

29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

29 El que tiene a la novia es el novio; mas el amigo del novio, que está de pie y le oye, se goza grandemente de la voz del novio; así pues, este, mi gozo, ha sido cumplido.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

30 Es necesario que él crezca, y que yo mengüe.

31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

31 El que viene de arriba está sobre todos; el que es de la tierra es terrenal y habla cosas terrenales; el que viene del cielo está sobre todos.

32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

32 Y testifica de lo que vio y oyó, pero nadie recibe su testimonio.

33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

33 El que ha recibido su testimonio atestigua que Dios es veraz.

34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

34 Porque el que Dios envió habla las palabras de Dios, pues Dios no da el Espíritu por medida.

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

35 El Padre ama al Hijo y ha puesto todas las cosas en sus manos.

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

36 El que cree en el Hijo tiene vida eterna; pero el que no cree en el Hijo no verá la vida, sino que la ira de Dios está sobre él.
