1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

1 Antes de la fiesta de la Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que su hora había llegado para que pasase de este mundo al Padre, como había amado a los suyos que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin.

2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

2 Y acabada la cena, como el diablo ya había puesto en el corazón de Judas hijo de Simón Iscariote que le entregase,

3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

3 sabiendo Jesús que el Padre le había dado todas las cosas en las manos, y que había salido de Dios y a Dios iba,

4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

4 se levantó de la cena, y se quitó su manto y, tomando una toalla, se la ciñó.

5 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

5 Luego puso agua en un lebrillo, y comenzó a lavar los pies de los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla con que estaba ceñido.

6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

6 Entonces llegó a Simón Pedro; y Pedro le dijo: Señor, ¿tú me lavas los pies?

7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

7 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Lo que yo hago, tú no lo entiendes ahora; pero lo entenderás después.

8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

8 Pedro le dijo: No me lavarás los pies jamás. Le respondió Jesús: Si no te lavo, no tendrás parte conmigo.

9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

9 Le dijo Simón Pedro: Señor, no solo mis pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza.

10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

10 Jesús le dijo: El que está lavado no necesita sino lavarse los pies, pues está todo limpio; y vosotros limpios estáis, aunque no todos.

11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

11 Porque sabía quién le iba a entregar; por eso dijo: No estáis limpios todos.

12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

12 Así que, después que les hubo lavado los pies, tomó su manto, volvió a sentarse a la mesa y les dijo: ¿Sabéis lo que os he hecho?

13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

13 Vosotros me llamáis Maestro y Señor; y decís bien, porque lo soy.

14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

14 Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, he lavado vuestros pies, vosotros también debéis lavaros los pies los unos a los otros.

15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

15 Porque ejemplo os he dado, para que así como yo os he hecho, vosotros también hagáis.

16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

16 De cierto, de cierto os digo: El siervo no es mayor que su señor, ni el enviado es mayor que el que le envió.

17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

17 Si sabéis estas cosas, bienaventurados sois si las hacéis.

18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

18 No hablo de todos vosotros; yo sé a quiénes he elegido; pero para que se cumpla la Escritura: El que come pan conmigo levantó contra mí su calcañar.

19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

19 Desde ahora os lo digo antes que suceda, para que cuando suceda, creáis que yo soy.

20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

20 De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que recibe al que yo envío, a mí me recibe; y el que a mí me recibe, recibe al que me envió.

21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

21 Cuando hubo dicho Jesús esto, se conmovió en el espíritu, y testificó y dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo que uno de vosotros me va a entregar.

22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

22 Entonces los discípulos se miraron unos a otros, sin saber de quién hablaba.

23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

23 Y uno de sus discípulos, a quien Jesús amaba, estaba reclinado en el pecho de Jesús.

24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

24 A este, pues, hizo señas Simón Pedro, para que preguntase quién era aquel de quien hablaba.

25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

25 Él entonces, recostándose sobre el pecho de Jesús, le dijo: Señor, ¿quién es?

26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

26 Respondió Jesús: Es aquel a quien yo le dé el pan mojado. Y mojando el pan, se lo dio a Judas Iscariote hijo de Simón.

27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

27 Y después del bocado, Satanás entró en él. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Lo que vas a hacer, haz lo pronto.

28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

28 Pero ninguno de los que estaban a la mesa entendió por qué le dijo eso.

29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

29 Porque unos pensaban que, como Judas tenía la bolsa, Jesús le decía: Compra lo que necesitamos para la fiesta; o que diese algo a los pobres.

30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

30 Cuando él, pues, hubo tomado el bocado, salió enseguida; y era ya de noche.

31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

31 Entonces, cuando él salió, dijo Jesús: Ahora es glorificado el Hijo del Hombre, y Dios es glorificado en él.

32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

32 Si Dios es glorificado en él, Dios también le glorificará en sí mismo, y enseguida le glorificará.

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

33 Hijitos, aún estaré con vosotros un poco. Me buscaréis, pero, como dije a los judíos: A donde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir; así os digo a vosotros ahora.

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

34 Un mandamiento nuevo os doy: Que os améis unos a otros; como yo os he amado, que también os améis los unos a los otros.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

35 En esto conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos, si tenéis amor los unos por los otros.

36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

36 Le dijo Simón Pedro: Señor, ¿a dónde vas? Jesús le respondió: A donde yo voy, no me puedes seguir ahora; pero me seguirás después.

37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

37 Le dijo Pedro: Señor, ¿por qué no te puedo seguir ahora? ¡Mi vida pondré por ti!

38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

38 Jesús le respondió: ¿Tu vida pondrás por mí? De cierto, de cierto te digo: No cantará el gallo sin que antes me hayas negado tres veces.
