1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo estaba con Dios, y el Verbo era Dios.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

2 Este estaba en el principio con Dios.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

3 Todas las cosas por medio de él fueron hechas, y sin él nada de lo que ha sido hecho fue hecho.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

4 En él estaba la vida, y la vida era la luz de los hombres.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

5 Y la luz resplandece en las tinieblas, y las tinieblas no la comprendieron.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

6 Hubo un hombre enviado por Dios, que se llamaba Juan.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

7 Este vino como testigo, para dar testimonio de la luz, a fin de que todos creyesen por medio de él.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

8 No era él la luz, sino que vino para dar testimonio de la luz.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

9 Aquel era la luz verdadera que alumbra a todo hombre que viene a este mundo.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

10 En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fue hecho por medio de él; pero el mundo no le conoció.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

11 A los suyos vino, y los suyos no le recibieron.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

12 Mas a todos los que le recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio potestad de llegar a ser hijos de Dios;

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

13 que no nacieron de sangre, ni de voluntad de carne ni de voluntad de varón, sino de Dios.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

14 Y el Verbo fue hecho carne y habitó entre nosotros (y vimos su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre), lleno de gracia y de verdad.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

15 Juan dio testimonio de él y clamó, diciendo: Este es aquel de quien yo decía: El que viene después de mí es antes de mí, porque era primero que yo.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

16 Porque de su plenitud recibimos todos, y gracia sobre gracia.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

17 Porque la ley fue dada por medio de Moisés; la gracia y la verdad vinieron por medio de Jesucristo.

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

18 A Dios nadie le vio jamás; el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le ha dado a conocer.

19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

19 Y este es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los judíos enviaron de Jerusalén sacerdotes y levitas para que le preguntasen: Tú, ¿quién eres?

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

20 Y confesó y no negó, sino que confesó: Yo no soy el Cristo.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

21 Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué, pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No lo soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

22 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Pues quién eres?, para que demos respuesta a los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

23 Dijo: Yo soy la voz de uno que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo el profeta Isaías.

24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

24 Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los fariseos.

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

25 Entonces le preguntaron y le dijeron: ¿Por qué, pues, bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías ni el profeta?

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

26 Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua, mas en medio de vosotros hay uno a quien vosotros no conocéis.

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

27 Este es el que ha de venir después de mí, el que es antes de mí, de quien yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de su sandalia.

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

28 Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, al otro lado del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

29 Al día siguiente vio Juan a Jesús que venía a él, y dijo: ¡He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo!

30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

30 Este es aquel de quien yo dije: Después de mí viene un varón que es antes de mí, porque era primero que yo.

31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

31 Y yo no le conocía, pero para que fuese manifestado a Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando en agua.

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

32 Y Juan dio testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y que reposó sobre él.

33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

33 Y yo no le conocía; pero el que me envió a bautizar en agua me dijo: Aquel sobre quien veas descender el Espíritu y que reposa sobre él, ese es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo.

34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

34 Y yo le he visto y he dado testimonio de que este es el Hijo de Dios.

35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

35 Al siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y con él dos de sus discípulos.

36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

36 Y mirando a Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: ¡He aquí el Cordero de Dios!

37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

37 Y los dos discípulos le oyeron hablar y siguieron a Jesús.

38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

38 Y volviéndose Jesús y viendo que le seguían, les dijo: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabí (que interpretado quiere decir Maestro), ¿dónde moras?

39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

39 Les dijo: Venid y ved. Entonces fueron y vieron dónde moraba, y se quedaron con él aquel día, porque era como la hora décima.

40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

40 Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que habían oído a Juan y que habían seguido a Jesús.

41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

41 Aquel halló primero a su hermano Simón y le dijo: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que interpretado es, el Cristo).

42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

42 Y le trajo a Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón hijo de Jonás; tú serás llamado Cefas (que quiere decir piedra).

43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

43 Al día siguiente, quiso Jesús ir a Galilea, y halló a Felipe y le dijo: Sígueme.

44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

44 Y Felipe era de Betsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.

45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

45 Felipe halló a Natanael y le dijo: Hemos hallado a aquel de quien escribieron Moisés, en la ley, y también los profetas: a Jesús hijo de José, de Nazaret.

46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

46 Y le dijo Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede salir algo bueno? Le dijo Felipe: Ven y ve.

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

47 Jesús vio a Natanael que se le acercaba y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero israelita, en quien no hay engaño.

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

48 Le dijo Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera, te vi.

49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

49 Respondió Natanael y le dijo: ¡Rabí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios! ¡Tú eres el Rey de Israel!

50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

50 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: ¿Crees porque te dije que te vi debajo de la higuera? Cosas mayores que estas verás.

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

51 Y le dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí en adelante veréis el cielo abierto y a los ángeles de Dios que ascienden y descienden sobre el Hijo del Hombre.
