1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

1 Ahora bien, aun el primer convenio tenía ordenanzas de culto y un santuario terrenal.

2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.

2 Porque el tabernáculo estaba dispuesto así: en la primera parte, llamada el lugar santo, estaban el candelabro, la mesa y los panes de la proposición.

3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

3 Tras el segundo velo estaba la parte del tabernáculo llamada el Lugar Santísimo,

4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

4 en donde había un incensario de oro, y el arca del convenio recubierta de oro por todas partes, en la que había una urna de oro que contenía el maná, y la vara de Aarón que reverdeció y las tablas del convenio;

5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

5 y sobre ella los querubines de gloria que cubrían el propiciatorio; de estas cosas no se puede ahora hablar en detalle.

6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

6 Y estas cosas estaban así ordenadas, en la primera parte del tabernáculo entraban continuamente los sacerdotes para cumplir las funciones de su ministerio;

7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

7 pero en la segunda parte, solo el sumo sacerdote entraba una vez al año, no sin sangre, la cual ofrecía por sí mismo y por los pecados del pueblo cometidos en la ignorancia,

8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

8 dando el Espíritu Santo a entender con esto que aún no se había manifestado el camino al Lugar Santísimo, entretanto que la primera parte del tabernáculo estuviese en pie.

9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

9 Lo cual era símbolo para ese tiempo, según el cual se ofrecían ofrendas y sacrificios que no podían hacer perfecto, en cuanto a la conciencia, al que oficiaba;

10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

10 consistiendo solo en comidas y en bebidas, y en diversos lavamientos y ordenanzas para el cuerpo, impuestas hasta el tiempo de la renovación.

11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

11 Pero, Cristo habiendo llegado a ser sumo sacerdote de las cosas buenas por venir, por el más amplio y más perfecto tabernáculo, no hecho por manos, a saber, no de esta creación,

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

12 y no por sangre de machos cabríos ni de becerros, sino por su propia sangre, entró una vez y para siempre en el Lugar Santísimo, habiendo obtenido eterna redención.

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

13 Porque si la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos, y la ceniza de la becerra, rociada a los inmundos, santifica para la purificación de la carne,

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

14 ¿cuánto más la sangre de Cristo, el que mediante el Espíritu eterno se ofreció a sí mismo sin mancha a Dios, limpiará vuestras conciencias de obras muertas para que sirváis al Dios vivo?

15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

15 Así que, por eso es mediador del nuevo testamento, para que, al intervenir una muerte para la remisión de las transgresiones que había bajo el primer testamento, los que son llamados reciban la promesa de la herencia eterna.

16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

16 Porque donde hay testamento, necesario es que ocurra la muerte del testador.

17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

17 Porque el testamento con la muerte se confirma, pues no es válido entretanto que el testador vive.

18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

18 De ahí que ni aun el primer convenio fue consagrado sin sangre.

19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

19 Porque habiendo leído Moisés todos los mandamientos de la ley a todo el pueblo, tomó la sangre de los becerros y de los machos cabríos, con agua, y lana de grana e hisopo, y roció el libro mismo y también a todo el pueblo,

20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

20 diciendo: Esta es la sangre del testamento que Dios os ha mandado.

21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

21 Y además de esto, roció también con la sangre el tabernáculo y todos los utensilios del ministerio.

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

22 Y casi todo es purificado, según la ley, con sangre; y sin derramamiento de sangre no se hace remisión.

23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

23 Fue, pues, necesario que las figuras de las cosas celestiales fuesen purificadas con estas cosas; pero las cosas celestiales mismas con mejores sacrificios que estos.

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

24 Porque no entró Cristo en el santuario hecho por manos, figura del verdadero, sino en el mismo cielo para presentarse ahora por nosotros ante Dios.

25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

25 Y no para ofrecerse muchas veces, como entra el sumo sacerdote en el Lugar Santísimo cada año con sangre ajena;

26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

26 de otra manera le hubiera sido necesario padecer muchas veces desde el principio del mundo; pero ahora, en la consumación de los siglos, se ha presentado una sola vez y para siempre, para anular el pecado por medio del sacrificio de sí mismo.

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

27 Y de la manera que está establecido para los hombres que mueran una sola vez, y después de esto el juicio,

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

28 así también Cristo fue ofrecido una sola vez para llevar los pecados de muchos; y la segunda vez, sin pecado, aparecerá para salvar a los que le esperan.
