1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

1 Porque este Melquisedec, rey de Salem, sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, que salió a recibir a Abraham que volvía de la derrota de los reyes, y le bendijo,

2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

2 a quien asimismo dio Abraham los diezmos de todo, cuyo nombre significa primeramente Rey de justicia, y también Rey de Salem, esto es, Rey de paz;

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

3 sin padre, sin madre, sin genealogía; que no tiene principio de días, ni fin de vida, sino hecho semejante al Hijo de Dios, permanece sacerdote para siempre.

4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

4 Considerad, pues, cuán grande fue este, al que aun Abraham, el patriarca, dio diezmos del botín.

5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

5 Y ciertamente los que de entre los hijos de Leví reciben el sacerdocio tienen mandamiento de recibir del pueblo los diezmos según la ley, a saber, de sus hermanos, aunque estos también hayan salido de los lomos de Abraham.

6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

6 Pero aquel cuya genealogía no es contada de entre ellos, tomó de Abraham los diezmos y bendijo al que tenía las promesas.

7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

7 Y, sin contradicción alguna, el que es menor es bendecido por el que es mayor.

8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

8 Y aquí ciertamente los hombres mortales reciben los diezmos; pero allí, uno de quien se da testimonio de que vive.

9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

9 Y, por decirlo así, en Abraham ha pagado diezmos también Leví, que recibe los diezmos,

10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

10 porque aún estaba en los lomos de su padre cuando Melquisedec le salió al encuentro.

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

11 Si, pues, la perfección fuera por el sacerdocio levítico (porque bajo él recibió el pueblo la ley), ¿qué necesidad habría aún de que se levantase otro sacerdote, según el orden de Melquisedec, y que no fuese llamado según el orden de Aarón?

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

12 Pues cambiado el sacerdocio, necesario es que se cambie también la ley.

13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

13 Porque aquel de quien se dice esto es de otra tribu, de la cual nadie ofició en el altar.

14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

14 Porque es evidente que nuestro Señor nació de la tribu de Judá, sobre cuya tribu nada habló Moisés tocante al sacerdocio.

15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

15 Y aun es más evidente, si a semejanza de Melquisedec se levanta otro sacerdote,

16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

16 que no es hecho conforme a la ley del mandamiento carnal acerca de la descendencia, sino según el poder de una vida indestructible;

17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

17 pues se da testimonio de él: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melquisedec.

18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

18 El mandamiento anterior de cierto queda abrogado por su debilidad e inutilidad;

19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

19 porque nada perfeccionó la ley, sino que logró la introducción de una mejor esperanza, por la cual nos acercamos a Dios.

20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

20 Y esto no fue hecho sin juramento

21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

21 (porque en verdad los otros sin juramento fueron hechos sacerdotes; pero este, con el juramento del que le dijo: Juró el Señor, y no se arrepentirá: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melquisedec);

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

22 por tanto, Jesús es hecho fiador de un convenio mejor.

23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

23 Y de cierto hubo muchos sacerdotes, debido a que por la muerte no podían continuar.

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

24 Pero este, por cuanto permanece para siempre, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable.

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

25 Por eso él puede también salvar enteramente a los que por medio de él se acercan a Dios, viviendo siempre para interceder por ellos.

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

26 Porque tal sumo sacerdote nos convenía: santo, sin mancha, limpio, apartado de los pecadores y hecho más sublime que los cielos;

27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

27 que no tiene necesidad cada día, como los otros sumos sacerdotes, de ofrecer primero sacrificios por sus propios pecados, y luego por los del pueblo, porque esto lo hizo una sola vez y para siempre, ofreciéndose a sí mismo.

28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

28 Porque la ley constituye sumos sacerdotes a hombres débiles; pero la palabra del juramento, posterior a la ley, constituye al Hijo, hecho perfecto para siempre.
